Pros: The King Is back

Cons: Any product can still be improved

Opinion: After so many years of waiting it is finally back in a completely updated version with Z attack. It was not my intention to take this splendid perspective at its release (I wanted to wait for the first cashback or discount at the Nital cash desk) but, thanks to the tempting devil (who took on the guise of a user of this forum who sent me some RAW), I took it practically a few days after its launch on the market. Amazing optics, sharpness at all focal lengths, always very contrasted, very low optical distortion and practically absent on the entire focal range. Very light, excellent construction, superior OLED display useful in various conditions (especially at night, digital scale of the perfect maf (at least on my copy). It comes with 2 hoods and, the larger one, allows the mounting of 112 mm filters. Hood that can then be used on other Z optics (tested on 24-70 f 2.8, 70-200 f 2.8, 50 f 1.2) and this is a great thing. The only disadvantage is that it does not allow you to mount more than one filter at a time but easily solved using the clip filters in the room or the rear filters (solution that I have embraced since the first hour). Flare resistance never seen in such a lens. Needless to say, in terms of coma, in the 14-16 mm range, this lens is undisputed and probably will be at least until the next generation of ultra-wide anglers. Over the years I have purchased, used and / or tried all the most famous lenses for astrophotography also of third-party manufacturers and also of competing brands and much more expensive than the 14-24 Z (also thanks to friends and various associations of amateur astronomers that I frequent and that I have attended) and no one can keep it up in astrophotography (especially in the range indicated above) where it is, without a doubt, the top that the market today offers.

Pros: size and weight, optical qualities.

Cons: to name one, the only fact that on the hood it has a small slot that in long exposures can be subject to light infiltration.

Opinion: His for a couple of months and I must say that compared to his older brother for SLR has improved in everything. Weight and dimensions with the front lens no longer protruding, flare resistance to the condition that at night you use its hood to avoid the flares of street lamps for example. Excellent sharpness and very controlled distortion make this lens a MUST HAVE for Nikon ML owners. the price I do not find excessive. Possibility to mount filters more comfortable and slightly cheaper than the 14-24 v2.8 G. Rating 10 without reservations

Pros: Sharpness, weight, handling, tropicalization

Cons: cost a bit 'excessive

Opinion: Recently purchased, I have to try it with the starry but based on what I see, it does its job very well. Obviously being a particular target, its use is quite limited (it is not a 24-70 all-rounder, here) so it is required in particular situations. From the first moment I was amazed by its sharpness, it simplifies post-production so much. It can always be used with a totally open diaphragm without giving any problem or disturbance. Highly recommended, if you really need it!

Pros: Sharpness, Resolution, Weight

Cons: Shinshiods to forget

Opinion: At a first examination, to be deepened, the optical qualities are significant: much better than its homonymous F mount and also of many fixed optics; plastic appearance, like all Z's, but still functional. Brainy choice to provide two plastic shiners, despite being the construction of the lens already petal, with several unreasonable drawbacks. The larger hood is needed to use 112mm filters; in fact it is not possible to mount a fixed protective filter (essential for a curved lens) but it is necessary to fix it on this hood, with the consequence that the size of the lens and what you need to carry with you significantly increases. I do not understand why the thread for circular lenses on the petal of the lens and / or on the smaller hood has not been prepared (it seems to me quite possible). The use would have been more effective and the overall cost reduced (a 112mm protective filter ranges from 150 euros to over 300: an absurdity). I am amazed that other reviewers have not noticed the problem, which is evident to those who use filters and need to contain the size of what they carry around.

Pros: A razor, very sharp, very high quality

Cons: dimensions towards fixed lens lenses, price, not free from distortion

Opinion: For me who come from the so-called analog, the photos with rolls in short, having such a marked sharpness in a non-fixed perspective was a very pleasant surprise. The lens is really sharp and pleasant, the files produced are definitely beautiful and need minimal pp, this is a personal point of view of course but objectively the files are really good. I understand those who call it small and handy... compared to the fixed lenses from analog photos I see it huge but I appreciate the point of view of those who have a different perspective. Just a consideration from this point of view, alternatively I had assumed the 14-24 Sigma that costs a lot less, here is that weighs almost twice as much on its own and for the Z attack you need the adapter. A drawback that I would like to point out is that this lens is not free from distortion, at the minimum focal length and for very close subjects, you have to pay attention to it.

Pros: Weight, bulk, optical quality, filterability, data display at night.

Cons: Price, just wanting to look for the defect

Opinion: Purchased in place of the glorious old 14-24F and replacing the 14-30 that did not really convince me, despite having stayed with me for a couple of years. I would say that it is basically perfect, optically without defects, incredibly low weight considering the optics, not small dimensions but definitely inferior to the predecessor. Having an endowment of 100mm plates I bought the NiSi holder, which works perfectly. Nikon has definitely pulled the rabbit out of the cylinder.

Pros: Weight,portability,sharpening

Cons: nobody

Opinion: Taken as a replacement for the old 14/24 I can safely say that it is a spectacular lens. The first thing that comes to the fore is the weight and size, which now makes the lens very comfortable to carry. Flare problems are an old memory, and even in the backlight it is very easy to shoot. Possibility with adapters to mount 100mm slab or 112mm screw filters that help in portability. The quality rendered by the image then is incredible, a lens that costs but that is at the top of the category. A must to have.

Pros: Very light, small size, great sharpness, removable (double) lampshed.

Cons: Only the price

Opinion: Happy owner of this magnificent lens for a few days. The thing that immediately impressed me by opening the package was the very small size and a much lower weight than the predecessor of the F series. The lens in the front does not protrude much, indeed say very little and is supplied with a double light shield, one standard and one to use circular filters Ø122. The old 14-24 also had the odious problem of not being able to disassemble the lampshed, as well as an embarrassing weight. Now paired with my Z7II I find myself a much lighter backpack, for me this is a really important thing. Great sharpness, I still took a few shots to be able to fully judge his surrender but do you hear ? I made enough countersuns to understand that the flares problem that plagued the old 14-24, has almost zeroed. Something remains if in the frame the sun is lateral but always very controllable and circumscribed around the sun itself. For now I am very satisfied, soon I will test it (if they remove this cursed curfew) at night at the maximum opening, I am curious to see if they are manageable coma effect, astigmatism or other typical distortions outside the frames.
