Pros: Excellent materials, excellent yield and optical quality

Cons: honestly I do not know, not even the weight I put into consideration just for the excellent materials

Opinion: Little to write, for the price I paid I also had much more than I expected (and I expected a lot given the reviews). It has fantastic colors and an excellent sharpness that I found in more or less all the focal lengths I used. Heavy but excellently built. AF not lightning fast but still I never "canned" a photo, it has always been accurate and I also used it in concerts and events in my city Recommended

Pros: This lens has a fantastic yield. It's also a nice object.

Cons: I don't know. Not stabilized, but you know. Not motorized, but that's also known. Maybe not a 2.8 blade but still very, very sharp.

Opinion: It's my main lens. At 80 mm diaphragm a wire has excellent detail even for panoramas. Nice blurry, nice colors. The backlight doesn't suffer much. Possible problems are the non-practical autofocus/manual switch ring and a little delicate. Tires over the years become lasche. Another problem, there's a lot of metal. If you take a winter hike before returning to a warm environment, put it in an airtight bag... Or it will produce condensation for hours. Paid 350 euros, to know, I would have done it sooner!

Pros: Materials, sharpness, colors, ring for tripods, weight

Cons: Yield at 200mm 2.8, front/back focus, dancer lampshade

Opinion: I bought this lens for 490euro used guaranteed. It is a great lens, in my opinion to always take with you especially for travel. The weight I do not feel, being accustomed to the 150-600 sigma sport that weighs more than 3 kg. Not excelled at TA, gives the best closing the diaphragm at least of a stop. Fabulous starting at f8. At 80mm just an f4 for a fantastic detail, at 200mm, from tests made at home, for a detail equal to 80mm, I had to close to f11. They are defects, if you can call them that are visible only by zooming the photo to 100% and are very solvable in post production. He suffers greatly in the backlight, creating conspicuous chromatic aberrations. The Af is quite responsive on d7100, great on d500: it's fine, in my opinion, also for naturalistic/sports. My lens was back focus, then adjusted in the room I solved.... from the other reviews read, it seems to be a frequent problem for this lens. The lack of stabilizer is not felt, because it is very usable freehand, with times no higher than 1/100 I am satisfied with the purchase and recommend it to anyone who wants a great lens without spending a fortune

Pros: Unparalleled construction and robustness. Zoom all in. Warm chromatic yield. Gorgeous Bokeh. Open shadows.

Cons: only and exclusively the weight

Opinion: I love vintage lenses and this is the best canvas ever tried and definitely the most solid built to date by any manufacturer. It's certainly not a super-modern-hyperfast-multicoated but it gives away exciting images. Blurred by chills, warm tones, perfect sunstars... its only problem, alas, is weight, an inevitable counterpoint to its solidity. I did not put between the cons the absence of VR because with that it would come to weigh about 2 kg...

Pros: Nice lens if found at the right price

Cons: Possible molds Lurking

Opinion: A very interesting lens. Compact to be a 70-200 (10mm do not feel), definitely brandable freehand and the absence of the VR is not felt. I'il be the big one, but it really seemed like a feather. The yield is interesting, the coldest colors of the bestial VR II, but the sharpness is completely satisfactory. Unfortunately the technology is felt, and if for the optical rendering the difference is not so marked, for everything else yes. Not having an internal AF motor, it exploits the engine machine, and albeit fast it is very noisy. I would not recommend it for weddings, but for sports where the quietness is superfluous yes. Also because the VR in sport I find it quite unnecessary, however, having to use very fast times to freeze the image. Only huge downside is the use of glue for the lenses. The molds are lurking. Beware when you buy it used, because the sellers are very clever (I happened one today), and certainly will forget to tell you. To be sure open the diaphragm to TA, aim the inverted lens (as if it were macro) towards a light source very weak or close (if the direct bet you blind and see nothing), and make sure it is clean. Don't panic about some speck of dust, but mold yes. It can be dangerous even for the other lenses you have. It's not worth the risk. Don't worry because the molds are recognizable. Looks like cobwebs. In case there is some speck of dust, just avoid keeping it in damp places where it might arise. Once a lens is attacked by molds, it is better to throw it. 9 times out of 10 repairs are not carried out as required, and you will risk throwing hundreds and hundreds of euros in photorators who will answer "eh but you can not do more".

Pros: Great build quality

Cons: Weight, footprint and price when I buy it again

Opinion: I had this lens for a couple of years if I remember well in the period 2000/2002 after using the monoghiera for some time, which was still fine. I regret to have sold it, after all (in my opinion) both the monoghiera and the bigot were zoom to say the least excellent, by the undersigned stupidamete with the more modern 70-200 F/2.8

Pros: Image quality and build quality.

Cons: Nobody.

Opinion: I was looking for a bright teletarget within a certain budget, in the end I opted for the bivor and I do not regret it. The image quality is at the top, the mechanical robustness also. I preferred the bigot to the 80 200 afs version precisely because of the fragility of the autofocus while this is a tank. The autofocus will not have the performance of the afs but is much faster than they describe it, loses in the fast chase. The lampshade isn't beautiful, but it does its job. Level fluid and mechanical ghieres without uncertainty. The weight is referred to as cons, actually given to the hand weighs 100 grams less than the 80 200 afs and of all versions 7O 200. Each time at 2.8 it amazes me how the subject stands out. For my use I do not feel lack vr. Bokeh great. After a few months of use I can confirm the goodness of the optics (mine has an imperceptible correct back focus in the car), it gives me satisfactory photos. Update: I switched to FF and the optics are even sharper... the back focus is gone... on the D600 is stratospheric for my use.

Pros: Sharpness already at 2.8, color rendering, soft tonal passages

Cons: Autofocus limited by the internal engine of the camera, no VR

Opinion: Are you looking for a quality telezoom for portraits, concerts, theater, scenery? This is your goal, quality is unquestionable, colors and tonal passages beautiful, shadows not closed as the G.rnIl versions against, perhaps, the autofocus speed, which on my D700 is good but certainly does not reach the AFS and the fact that is not VR, to me personally this does not create problems, not recommended for those who mainly photographs sports, photographic hunting and all those fast moving situations, for the rest is a really excellent goal, excellent build quality.

Pros: Quality, brightness, price

Cons: Very few, maybe the condensation ... yes, the hood is ugly :)

Opinion: I bought this lens used but practically new to a fantastic figure (450) and I'm very happy, has a great quality, a surrender of "hot" colors that I like a lot.rnPersonally I do not find so limiting the AF, it will be because the his on d300s and it will be because I do not take pictures of sports situations pushed, but so far has never lost a shot.rnI also made tests on cars and birds in the race, but with AF set to C and dynamic area has never lost the fire. rnIf I had to express negative sides I think it would only be 2 per hour, but not so serious.rn1. A 2.8 is not so defined as to cry to the miracle, I tend to agree with those who said that the 50 1.8 is a bit sharper, but we are talking about cropped photos because otherwise it is acceptableissimo.rn2. This is something I had never encountered before this goal and made me smile. The condensation. It seems strange but one never thinks about it, the objectives, above all chiaramenin winter if they are kept externally for some time they cool down, when you switch to indoor environments the difference in temperature generates microcondens, in other words they fog up, all normal, only with the objectives in "plastic" (pass me the term) modern this you go to solve within a few seconds.rnThe bighiera is metal and this phenomenon lasts much longer because the lens body stays cold for much longer (if not stored near heat sources, but I do not even think about doing it do this thermal overhang) .rnThe problem is actually ridiculous for those used to pass a cloth on the lens (I'm not among them) and then I find myself waiting a bit more in this passage out / inside.rnBut to this goal he forgives everything ... Af, weight, softness ... has colors and bokeh that lately I'm alternating 50 1.8 and bighiera and enough ... given the price you find today you can not recommend it.

Pros: Sharpness, mechanical construction, IF and internal zoom, optical scheme, AF focusing precision, collar with tripod mount, almost everything.

Cons: Weight (if you can make a counter), lack of tropicalization on the graft, some uncertainty of the switch M / A that sometimes does not hook completely in A.

Opinion: I purchased it on DX for use on the D7100 and I compared it with the Sigma 70-200 that I already had. On 24 mpx the difference is seen both in the color rendering and in the quality at full aperture. Going up with the mpx on FF (D800) the differences are not so obvious because even the 80-200 shows some limitations but overall remains a decent and well built, with a quality of image I would say even today of the highest level if used well. My specimen does not suffer from particular aberrations or flare in backlight. It is a good lens. The weight is felt but it has been built like that and it is almost a pity to have to write it down among the defects. The only neo - shared with (almost) all the objectives of the time - is the lack of a tropicalization on the graft objective (perhaps missing altogether) also considered that it is a declaredly "professional" lens to its release on the market. It can be used without problems at f / 2.8 and does not suffer from focus breathing with increasing focal length and minimum focusing distances. Even the distortion it generates is minimal. The blur is beautiful. The lack of VR is not a defect, since it was not designed with that function (and perhaps it is better to prefer this lens to the 70-200 VR 1 which according to many had a really annoying VR). The best (and better than the next AFS80-200) for those looking for a lot of quality at a small price in addition to FF compatibility as it is used at about 500 euros in excellent condition. You will not regret the VR. rn

Pros: Great clarity at all focal lengths - creamy and "battered" in the out of focus - Price of used - Excellent construction. Stand collar.

Cons: A pity not to own it.

Opinion: A guessed optical scheme, supported by the fact that it is still in the Nikon price list (last version with double ring) and a longevity never seen before, demonstrating the goodness of the product. Sharp at full aperture, it becomes spectacular as soon as the diaphragm closes. Returns balanced images regarding color and a really nice blur. Recommended for those looking for a zoom (with these focal lengths) Pro features but the price (in used) prosumer.rnP.S. The pump version (version II) is not less clear than that of the bighiera as claimed by many. Both have the same optical scheme: same number of lenses in the same number of groups. They have, therefore, the exact same sharpness. Prefer one or the other? Whichever one chooses, one always falls on his feet. I have preferred the bighiera only because it has a collar for a tripod. To have absolutely !!!

Pros: super-sharpness, bokeh to be scary but with a "what" of the past (excellent!), construction, optical quality.

Cons: Weight

Opinion: Few lenses can boast of such an excellent optical quality. I sell (reluctantly !!!) because I am a victim of 'stroke. It's heavy, but it's right to be ..... !! Tropicalized, it's a good thing. Bright: a CT makes f / 2.8 effective; closed you can send it to the moon !! Portraits, sports, concerts .... never fails. To look at the reviews everyone says "Lack of VR ...". Mah ... For 3-4 years I use it, I did not realize the lack. Apart from that it works with the AF motor of the camera ...... rnWhat? Beautiful, beautiful ... rnVely recommended!

Pros: Cromie, good balance, sharpness, great AF though not USM

Cons: lack of stabilizer

Opinion: I sold him a while ago with great pain because I preferred his younger brother (f4) but infinitely more technologically advanced. He accompanied me wherever he was, he was with me in Morocco, USA, Korea, jazz concerts, etc. wherever I got the chance to bring me the camera. It was my favorite target. Great for those who want a professional lens, excellent, indestructible chromatic rendering (and needs 2.8).

Pros: AF speed, construction, tripod ring, chrome

Cons: Weight and stabilization

Opinion: I'm using it on D5, ... the focus is not bad, it's certainly not an ultrasonic, but it's fine, the colors are very nice, catching beautiful lights, warm tone, very clear already from f3.2, .... an excellent point of view for my way of doing photography ... the sore note is the lack of stabilization and non-tropicalization, .... and a hair the weight, .... in general is a Good lens, ...... second-hand, but well-made .nn I recommend it to anyone looking for a professional lens and constructive value and not least for making amazing photographs.

Pros: image quality, superb bokeh, color rendering. Of professional camera bodies autofocus is more than satisfactory

Cons: lack AF internal, VR (if desired)

Opinion: Never sell this lens, I purchased new. It has a build quality Currently in Range no longer detectable. rnMetallo excellent and not plastic made in China, professional image quality workmanship, few risk breaking components. rnPossiedo cameras pro or semipro and all autofocus, criticized by many, it is very quiet and fast. I used it for sports photographs with rapid and unpredictable movements (eg. Tennis) with great satisfaction, as well as for shooting wildlife, always satisfied. Never occurred to front or back focus phenomena, always ready lens and rapida.rnPersonalmente believe it can be a lack of use prompted the internal autofocus motor, VR for me, of long life perspective lenses, is just one more component at risk of failure, but I understand that the comparison is a lack of modern lenses. rnIl weight issue that is sometimes referred to as a flaw, it is 1,300 grams: the 70-200 VRII average peak paintings and praised by all weighs 1,451 grams per s ...turn on and off in the pound you have to "climb" on f / 4 model. rnPer me, if you find a good used, with the price / quality ratio is an unbeatable choice for the amateur (mode separately).

Pros: Sharpness, Brightness, Quality construction, Bokeh

Cons: Absence VR, Weight

Opinion: Excellent lens, took just over 420 euro used, I consider it a bargain: Sharpness on top, soft at f2.8 but rightly so, incredible brightness, bokeh spaventoso.rnDal construction point of view is very robust but inevitably also quite heavy , do not think it particularly suitable to the casual tourist, you would find it inconvenient: for this reason in part can not justify the lack of VR that would have worsened the lens. The af did not give me any problems under the light, while the dark sometimes makes the tantrums, but to complain about? So do some ultrasonici.rnNel Overall I think it is a great lens and a tremendous value for the price!

Pros: lens quality, brightness, sharpness, but modern with an antique look

Cons: Pesantuccio (but nemeno too) absence of VR, AF loupe.

Opinion: I use it recently but with great satisfaction. I realized that the HIA sio pinto strong and its naturalness of the colors and sharpness of the file that produces a good quality and regular. You never jams, I do not know never crashes. A bit of chromatic aberration see but recovers with one click. I had this lens almost as a gift, and I just DO NOT go to the stable version. Cons: No VR, AF that maybe some of us think

Opinion: Lens exceptional .. my kit I sold a 24-70 f2.8 Nikon and a 35mm 1.4 ... yet when I sold this lens I had tears in his eyes. simply amazing. used both for portraits to sport but also for views and I was never disappointed .. it can happen that it serves to raise the ISO to avoid camera shake, which can happen in the dark struggling to find the fire .. but this jewel forgive everything. truly a masterpiece ..

Pros: Clarity, purity of the image blurred, robustness, practicality of double ring

Cons: Weight, and vr who needs ....

Opinion: Optical quality, lenses clean, very nice sharpness together with good brightness, an almost indestructible and always there ... some are the lack of stabilizing a major failing, I would say that there is a real need, the past there taught to shoot without vr. In some models there may be keys (full) and the small key metal with the giuochi not too good, it would suffice move once and nn touch them again, in this way we would have a complete excursion always ready even for the macro..Altra what not minor, certain optical suffering from front / bach focus, who so mild, those more heavily ... the thing is not to be underestimated although partly manageable but not accettabile.rnRibadisco the grandeur of optics as robustness , cleaning lens, excellent color and contrast very very nice, soft at the right (then the question of taste) circular blur beautiful ... in short, a perspective that never sets. Highly recommended ...

Pros: Color and sharpness ... ... Construction of Focus creamy and beautiful ... Cost ... It 'a PRO

Cons: Nothing rilevante..forse a tad noisy ..

Opinion: Optics I fell in love ... I love just proven that the portraits are offering a mix of creamy pastel colors and high sharpness already at f2.8 ... At the beginning it was very easy to manage on my D800 but once the right confidence you may not remove more by reflex .. Pastel colors worthy of the best Nikon lenses of the past (personally I prefer them to the current) high color rendering and very blurred by fear make it a perspective of absolute value. I was lucky enough to get one (at a fair price by a very proper) almost like new without the classic problem of F / B focus. Raising some iso when there is little light does not feel the need of VR and personally I do not find the AF slow (maybe a bit noisy) .. anzi..ho tried lens AF-S much worse. I use it for portraits and landscapes of D800 and sports photos and fauna of D300s and I was never disappointed.

Pros: All you should have a professional viewpoint. And it did.

Cons: Nothing. Perhaps the stabilizer.

Opinion: Excellent throughout. Optical quality to solid construction. It has everything you should have a zoom PRO. Regarding the autofocus is still possible that many do not realize that some objectives af-d are more responsive to some af-s? I possess both of them and I am not that much difference in speed for the AF-S. But who said the nikon af-s are so fast? I repeat, some AF-D are more reactive to certain AF-S. I work with both systems canon and nikon. Not typhus it for the one nor to the other as both are very valid. But unfortunately the objectives Nikon AF-S Silent wave although ultrasound is not as quick as the canon EF ultrasonic. Mettetevelo that into your head.

Pros: optical quality

Cons: compatibility autofocus

Opinion: Stickiness and engraving. O of the compromise between the two instances. This is the 80 200 True union. Slightly less impact of the current 70 200, but characterized by a pleasant creaminess of surrender. Some professionals still prefer, for this. How to reactivity assisted in focusing a, I can say - having previously had a copy of the pump model - who is from True union that in this respect the behavior can comiunciare to define fine (although an optimal response will come only from the versions that follow). Pros: Image quality (even at room temperature), blurred, building, tripod mount ring, ring diaphragms.

Cons: Lack of sealing and stabilization, autofocus ultrasound and slightly noisy.

Opinion: Perspective of excellent quality: even at full aperture the quality is excellent and it has nothing to envy to slow as the 70-200 VR I or blurred II.rnLo is beautiful and the yield is typical of lenses designed for the film, which I prefer not dubbio.rnL 'autofocus, although it is a version of more than 15 years ago, is not bad and I was able to take photographs in sharp focus during racing: there are also limiting the focus and the AF / MF.rnAltro big advantage is the aperture ring, and that is essential if you use an SLR film meccanica.rnrnGli only flaws are the lack of tropicalization (although I would not be too worried about photographing while drizzling or snowing) and the autofocus is not ultrasonic and on certain occasions (eg. weddings) may also be felt when there is silence.

Cons: No AFS - No VR - Pesa (Like all quality lenses)

Opinion: Optics really excellent, I possess the second pump version. Blurred by fear. Clear from the envy of big brothers. The grandfather of 70-200 does its dirty work. I went from 70-300 to this and I can only feel happy and satisfied with the transition. I lost weight, AFS, VR and 100mm but I gained in strength and image quality. Opinion: I rediscovered this lens despite the flaws mentioned above has a clean image and remarkable even when money is important than the big brothers of the house Nikon, its cost must be taken into consideration.
