Pros: Versatility, burst, megapixels.

Cons: Price.

Opinion: I waited quite a while before giving my opinion on this camera, a very positive opinion. I state that I use it mainly for nature photography together with its younger sister the R6. Burst, lightness, autofocus, megapixels and ability to crop, at the top. The only drawback I found it for its digital noise at certain ISO, certainly for its many pixels, unlike the R6 that gives a cleaner image. For the rest, colors, details, and versatility of use at the highest levels.

Pros: AF system - Image quality - responsiveness - versatility - viewfinder

Cons: Cost - sporadic freezing - autonomy - cf express (speaking of photographs only)

Pros: 45 mp, in-camera crop, weight, handling, button customization, shooting options

Cons: Weight, materials,

Opinion: For those like me looking for a "big megapixel" at home canon at the moment has two options, 5dsr (obsolete SLR and out of production) or this ML eos R5. Leaving aside the cost speech (which I think is due to the fact of the compact 8k video, which I do not use) this camera offers many options on the photographic side: Possibility of crop in the 17 mp room (and this led me to the decision to sell the R7 in favor of only R5 and R6 to be part of my kit) It offers the possibility to save files in hdr-pq, RAW, JPG, DPR, in short, a complete camera on the photo front. The shooting speed / burst is very good, you are still talking about a 45 mp ff. The resistance to high iso is good, it holds up well up to 12800 iso. The af takes a few minutes for the right configuration, but once set up nothing escapes, even face and eye recognition. The ibis as on R6 is a bit disappointing, I do not find all those advantages of recovery of the stops declared by canon. The files it returns, despite being 45 mp are fluid and well workable. The "old" 5dsr required very bright optics and possibly L-series, this ML defends itself very well even with cheap and bright RF optics. Video side : I do not practice video, I always remain of the idea that a camera remains a tool dedicated to the dorography, but I was curious to try the 8k. This video format is not compatible and playable on 3 of my 4 PCs, despite updates to the codecs of DPP and windows play but as I said, the video side is not of interest to me. Having to sum up and give an opinion on the R5 I can say that my opinion is very positive, not using the video sector I would still give a vote 8 out of 10, we must still keep a margin dedicated to the possibility of future improvement. Too bad that just picked up L has found light (perhaps too much), identical to the R6 (this is good on the positioning and customization side of the keys) it is still very handy, the materials and appearance leave you in a little perplexed if you think about its cost, but its value is all inside and its potential. The 5 series of the SLR was distinguished from the rest of the dsrl for size and materials, in this case the R5 is indistinguishable from the rest of the Canon ML. The cost? If compared to the 5dsr (which remains the only real comparison possible on the photo side, at canon) I find the R5 cheaper than the old SLR at the time of its launch for all that it offers in addition, video side, connectivity, touch and adjustable display, high iso resistance, burst, af zone and use of the new cf express. Great product that is worth all the money it costs.

Pros: 45 Mpx, dynamic range, shadow recovery and highlights. Compactness, sensor cover curtain, deadly AF. Wi-Fi. 4K 120 fps. Adjustable screen. Viewfinder really crazy in terms of colors and rendering.

Cons: Price, but adequate to the product. Delicate compared to the 5D I come from. Viewfinder definitely small (the R3 has the perfect one). It tends to overheat in burst or video mode. I would add that it is absolutely necessary to upgrade your PC, memory cards (CFexpress) and a hard disk. Very large and heavy files, especially with the Dual Pixel Raw!

Opinion: Almost a year after its possession, after several years of 5D mk iii, I must say that after getting used to the R5, I find no defects except its delicacy, especially in the materials. Fast and accurate AF with its native (RF) optics. Excellent dynamic range, recovery shadows and high lights crazy. The only thing, the colors, are not those typical of Canon, although with a little retouch you get crazy results. Definitely happy with the purchase, especially for AF tracking vehicles, which is why I use it more often. 45 Mpx of pure pleasure. If I recommend it ? Absolutely! Hard to beat.

Pros: lots of news, highly developed AF

Cons: cost, battery, many parameters to learn

Opinion: Born with the canon 600D, passed to the 5D III (which in my opinion is and remains an extraordinary machine), bought the R that I kept for 1 year .. and in the end spent 2000 euros thanks to trade-in at RCE and I bought the R5. I do not want to go back to the technical disquisitions that people much more experienced than me have clearly described. Just highlight in a very practical way..... 1 I did not notice a great advance in sharpness and detail relative to 45Mp. I think I get who knows what .. but if I have to be honest a normal photo in the mountains, maybe of a wild animal or a panorama is practically identical to the R and slightly higher than the 5D mIII. 2. as a good passionate user, I downloaded the whole manual, printed, read everything, tried to study it ... I think there is so much stuff to know that it is easy to get lost. I honestly find that you lose the immediacy of a car where perhaps with fewer options it was easier to take and shoot ... 3. The battery is a different world... percarita seems the comparison of when we all switched to smartphones, the old nokia lasted a week and the smartphone barely arrived at half a day. let's say that you have to count 600 shots in manual mixed car mode to be sure to stay active with enough energy. 4. I have not noticed any particular improvements in having internal stabilization, on or off for my way of photographing has no incidence. 5. from 5d to R the difference on the viewfinder I noticed it, perhaps it was the thing that bothered me most of all (in addition to the obnoxious swipe), but from the R to the R5 it has definitely improved and I must say that I do not notice so much difference. It is not what makes you photograph better or worse, percarita is not yet up to the optical viewfinder, but I think it is absolutely superimposable as a yield. 6. I thought that the selection of the af point with the touch was manna from heaven, but practically I can not use it, I find myself using the joistick or relying on the car identification of the car. 7. the Af as a chase is very valid and very helpful, but it is often deceived. a huge advance, but first the machine must understand what you want to pursue. my subjects (children, animals, insects) often move quickly in an environment rich in details and the machine sometimes makes mistakes to identify the subject or the eye of the subject. with this I am not saying that it does not work, but simply that reading here and there I thought it was really infallible. Instead it is very advanced, it chases very well, but let's say that you have to work on it a little and it does not do the whole car at all. (I have all L-series RF lenses, so I don't blame the lenses). 8. I don't know anything about videos because I don't make 9. the file size is passable, we are from 25 to 35 mb for photos in compressed raw format. I have rather difficulty seeing the preview on both win 10 and 11, slightly faster on 11. keep in mind that windows tends to apply some sort of filter after a few seconds after viewing for cr3 files. it is therefore necessary to always use dedicated software such as lightroom or photoshop. I hope that sooner or later they will fix this nonsense that once put in place could be very convenient. 10. is it worth it for the 2000 euros? no in my opinion no, I have no improvements on the photos that are worth 2000 euros.

Pros: Dynamic range, burst, raw quality, af

Cons: Ibis not very incisive, cost of rf lenses needed with this sensor, no focus stacking in the room, sharpness

Opinion: I gave up my 6Dmark2 and the Eos R attracted by the Ibis and the possibility of taking sports photos thanks to the fast burst and the most permissive viewfinder in the pursuit of fast subjects. The Eos R5 does not disappoint, the first surprise is the dynamic range, the color rendering is absurd compared to my old cameras. In sports it behaves well, easily holds the subject in chase mode and in portraits it is excellent. The defects that I found are in the ibis very little incisive, in the focus stacking that exploits the electronic shutter and therefore does not allow you to use the flash and in the use of ef lenses that do their job but suffer the 45mp of the camera, it results in a poor sharpness, even compared to the Eos R with which I allowed myself to shoot at F1.2, with the R5 it is no longer possible. For an amateur photographer buying RF lenses is really a nice expense and as long as third-party manufacturers do not produce RF lenses, this will remain a limitation of this camera.

Pros: Autofocus, burst, high ISO rendering, IBIS, image quality in general, very high customization

Cons: Cost, lots of settings to be aware of.

Opinion: I have been using it since July 2021, mainly for nature and macro photos for now. Compared to my previous 7D, undoubtedly another world. I read a lot before the purchase, I remember many of the conclusions reached by the authors of the reviews, and I like to set up my review by synthesizing and confirming them. So: 1) for naturalistic use, this machine greatly increases the percentage of successful shots, which you can take home. Good or bad, in my case, the beautiful occasions, to which I cared, were almost always exploited thanks to the burst at 20 fps and the very fast and precise autofocus (eyeAF in particular, both on old lenses such as the EF 400 f / 5.6L, even more on the RF 100-500); 2) my base ISO value has gone from 400 to 1600, and I am not afraid to get to 6400 when needed, especially when this is functional only to have very fast shutter speeds even in so much light; this allows you to always photograph at times around 1/2000 even with lenses that are not very bright, thus bringing home still images of subjects that start in flight, shoot, etc., often unexpected events; 3) the IBIS, especially coupled to the RF 100-500, is really a remarkable help and I can shoot freehand at 500 or 700 mm at times even of 1/20 s, especially if in support; imagine photographing a blackbird with the streamy water of the stream; it is a concrete possibility to follow the subject freehand from one stone to another and shoot at the right time, even taking advantage of the burst (as long as it stands still during the shot ...); 4) if the light you shoot at is even minimally good, the R5 will do it full justice and exalt it, without having to go crazy with particular stunts in post production; excellent, in particular, the management of backlight and strongly contrasted situations; 5) being able to crop images a lot thanks to the 45 Mpx is really an undeniable advantage, and also gives here the possibility of having an acceptable shot as a resolution on many more occasions than with a "normal" 20-30 Mpx (lapalissiano, but when you really realize it is still very rewarding!); 6) generally, I can't wait to mount the RF 100-500 and go where there is some promising situation with various animals, so much so that perhaps I am neglecting a little the other genres, given the pleasure that this camera gives in this type of photography! I have therefore listed a series of non-technical considerations, but of real satisfaction deriving from practical use. I hope they serve beyond the strictly technical parameters, which you can find everywhere. In a nutshell, it is really nice and pleasant to use it. The only flaws are the cost, undoubtedly. Then, being very customizable, on the other hand sometimes you get something wrong and you go to alter the settings without realizing it too much. To be clear, a bit like it can happen with a very complex smartphone in the settings. One last negative note, common to the whole RF system. The fact of having to mount the caps of the lenses and the machine by aligning the notches is certainly not very practical, especially for those who take pictures in often uncomfortable conditions and are quickly changing lens (or multiplier) for a suddenly appeared subject.

Pros: Image quality, excellent ISO performance and dynamic range to have a 45 mpx sensor, AF speed and precision, REFLEX ergonomics, white balance compared to r6.

Cons: Weight of files that need a high-performance computer, then I can not find others.

Opinion: Finally the machine I wanted for a long time, as a holder of canon R and R6 and also sony a7iii, this is on another planet, already from the first shots you realize you have in your hands a machine with the attributes, detail and quality of very high image, the 45 mpx feel all allowing you to crop great and recover excellent images, the colors it returns are beautiful far superior to the R6 that veer towards the reddish, obviously the R6 remains a beautiful machine, but this r5 currently remains a multipurpose machine that has given me satisfaction in all kinds of photography, landscape, avi fauna, portrait, set astrophotography and much more, I have always used sony a7iii for night for the advantage in terms of GD, but this machine at the moment led me to sell my sony and stay in the canon house.

Pros: Autofocus speed, image quality, stabilization, EVF, ergonomics and dimensions

Cons: cost, consumption

Opinion: I purchased this machine as a replacement for the 5DsR. I must admit that already the 5DsR was already oversized for my use and here we are literally on another planet. As for many, it was more of a whim than a necessity. From an ergonomic point of view I have always appreciated the setting of the Canon 5 series machines and the R5 fully falls into this category. For those who already use a machine of this recently manufactured series, the transition to the R5 from an ergonomic point of view is simple and painless. It is only lighter and more compact but it grips well. The autofocus of the machine is all to be discovered, it is literally another world. In three months of use I do not have a photo out of focus. I tried some water sports and the subject was followed with absolute precision even when he returned to the frame after being covered by some unexpected obstacle. Obviously back and front focus are no longer a problem. The machine is very responsive and always ready. From the point of view of the resolution I have made some summary comparisons with the 5DsR and without making quantitative measurements I would say that the latter prevails. The differences, however, are minimal, practically laughable. Exposure and colors are different from those of the 5DsR but I would still say perfect. The colors are by default slightly more vivid. Stabilization does its job and gives away a few more options with lenses like the 24-70 EF II that lacked them. The EFV has its limits only in low-light situations where it tears slightly in greeting losing a few frames. The machine works perfectly with my 3 EF, 16-35 f/4, 24-70 f/2.8 II and 70-200 f/2.8 II, zero problems and always effective focus. I do not find useful for the moment the articulated rear display that I often keep closed. When I needed it, often the ambient light conditions made it useless. The machine obviously consumes much more energy than a Reflex so a second battery is recommended. The only substantial negative point is the price, really high.

Pros: Speed, AF, stabilization, grip, resolution, EVF, LCD display, connectivity, beautiful aesthetically.

Cons: Superior display switch mode from photo to video menu, a bit 'weight.

Opinion: I state that I come from an RP for which the jump was obviously considerable. I've had it for a long time and I still haven't tested it 100%. Needless to say, it is a gem, very fast, the AF with eye tracking is a sniper. EVF and display quality are at the top, touch is worthy of an iPhone, perfect Canon-style menus as well as connectivity, connects on the fly with the smartphone via the native app and in a few seconds you transfer photos. As for the small upper display I do not like the way to switch from the photo menu to the video one, in practice you have to press two keys, I know they are small, but I have always been used to the wheel that was more practical even if aesthetically less beautiful. I don't really like the level and the focus dot that you see on the EVF, they are too small in my opinion, on the RP they were a little more invasive but they could be seen better. Beautiful aesthetically, as well as the materials and grip. Coming from an RP that weighs only 450 grams obviously I feel a bit the difference in weight (it weighs almost double). I do not pronounce on the video side because I use it very little, even if with the potential it has it is really a waste not to use it, so who knows ... maybe I'll try more.

Pros: resolution,speed,ergonomics,focus

Cons: nothing

Opinion: premise:this is a camera that for an amateur like me is without undoubtedly (cit.) oversized, but since I came from a very difficult personal period I wanted to take off a touch and satisfy my ego a little, giving inside my Eos R and making this change that made me become a camera owner that I could call "definitive" ,or almost. we start from the beginning, it has the ergonomics that one expects from canon, all the keys in the right place and in general a family feeling that immediately puts you at ease and allows you to start mastering it, obviously making it make the most of it is another talk, especially with regard to the countless possibilities given by its focus module ,very fast and precise, with very advanced options to track people and animals the image quality is excellent, the 45 mpx are ideal to be able to crop images at will and to use it when needed in apsc mode, the filter is much less invasive than the R and rows are beautiful crisp and crisp the yield is excellent even with the adapted optics ,the rolling shutter very limited, the burst at 20 fps in ES formidable , but also the one at 12 fps in mechanical is really remarkable the buffer is infinite especially using the (expensive) cf express type B,the battery life is adequate but not to be mistaken I took the battery grip and a second original battery that allowed me to safely finish a day of dance essays with still the battery grip and a second original battery that allowed me to safely finish a day of dance essays with still the 35% charge on both batteries after more than 1000 shots.. in short, for my needs it is a formidable machine, I am still familiarizing and doing comparative tests between the various shooting and focusing modes, but I would say that she does not really miss anything price chapter:it is high,3800 euros plus 350 battery grip are not a joke (although in the store they evaluated my R well) ,but I think the technological contents of this R5 fully justify the required figure defects?not received, but I am a simple amateur so I do not make much text

Pros: Very fast machine at 45mpx, ergonomics and really good key layout, given and considering that I have been coming from 14 years of Nikon (and there we are at our best as ergonomics..), I used it only 2 times and immediately I found myself and did the sets properly. Very comfortable the rear wheel to which I have attributed the times in the shot, Canon makes you feel immediately at home also as a menu, even more intuitive than the Nikon who are already the best, Robusta, does not make you regret the SLRs, a camera that perfectly embodies the photographic philosophy of the shot. Very configurable at key level, robust and well built machine. Use CF E (B) cards, I think they are the best compromise today in storage level for these technological wonders.

Cons: Batteries. In about 3 hours of shed and 700 photos taken both in electronic /first curtain /mechanic has consumed a battery, it is energivora, and for a whole day of my kind you need at least 3, the BG is recommended, I do not mount it for practicality and lightness of the machine itself (in the future who knows). Sneeging ring explodes a little recessed and almost difficult to reach (I set it to Iso use). Viewfinder, however it is known sore of all ML, will not soon match a nice pentaprisma, which in many cases is also used for naturalistic observation. Too much information that distracts from the composition, but can also be removed. Boards once used for consistent bursts tend to heat up a lot (inevitable since the machine has to work out a lot of impressed data).

Opinion: Camera that brought back in Canon many "crooked packages" that were in other beaches because of the sensors that until yesterday mounted Canon, a wire Under sony. Compared to the shots taken with the D850, this R5, it hardly notices differences, if not a veiling wire conferred by the slight AA filter that the machine has, but to which the Canon lenses, very resolving on average, obsess. The total system change is always an unknown, and although the big shot is still not in my hands (Canon Ita is in distress and not delivery) and that is used with the 100-500 (fantastic and very fast) and the 400 F5.6 EF that I have on trial, the machine has always given its best. The adapted EF lenses "can't be heard", everything goes away linear and clear as if you were using an EF native attack reflex, which in Nikon with FTZ on Z7II (which I had on trial) and FL canvases (600 F4) was not. Crazy AF, in all customizable houses, 20fps, really too many, I don't think they look at 80% of the people who use it, it makes you feel right at home, and you don't regret switching to another Brand at all. Iso usable until 12800, the color is not affected at all, sensor that makes it good to climb iso in the color seal, which is very important when using very tight times on machines with a lot of resolution, and isos, often go to the stars. I reserve the right to make further considerations after intensive use of the same, so as to be as objective as possible in the knowledge of the medium.

Pros: Better than DSLR. AF, color rendering and ISO greatly improved. Very fast burst, perfect for everything.

Cons: It does not allow you to shoot above 1/60 with flash in electronic mode. But I don't make a drama out of it. You switch to normal mode and away.

Opinion: Coming from 5D mk4, 1DX and RP I was happily amazed at the quality of the files, already great for RP and R. Different types of AF hooking for all situations. The dynamic one for eyes or animals is mind-blowing, it does not miss a beat. With the new 2130 mAh LP-E6NH battery, on two occasions I have reached up to about 3450 shots in 2 hours of event, in burst mode, with electronic shutter. Double slot with CFExpress and very comfortable SD. For cfexpress I use 128GB Manfrotto and are faster than Lexar. IBS only works with some third-party optics, and activates automatically when needed. It also applies to Canon lenses and always depends on the lens stabilizer and at what times you shoot. You don't notice and there are no warnings in the crosshairs. They're no use. Very convenient if you want to use some lens without stabilizer. High YIELD of ISOs. Beautiful Jpeg files almost as a flagship. The adjustable display is a crazy cool for uncomfortable shots at first. With the BG-R10 battery grip excellent overall body/optical balance. There is only a small sore note left for those like me who are forced to shoot in electronic/silent mode, the anti-flicker option is not activated and flash shooting is limited. I hope in the next firmware for the anti-flicker. Excellent materials as per Canon tradition. The backward compatibility of the LP-E6 batteries is very intelligent.

Pros: Everything: autofocus, burst, stabilization, resolution and sharpness, dynamic range, construction, customizations, video compartment, etc. etc.

Cons: To be just picky, the only thing that can be reported is the battery life, good but not exceptional.

Opinion: Practically the state of the art of mirrorless technology. As someone who preceded me in the judgment, I come from many years of experience with canon professional cameras, but I find this R5 resolutely ahead of all the SLRs of the 5 series, in my opinion now surpassed in many respects even by the best APS-C on the market (vds. Fuji XT4). Compared to the 1DX III, whose ergonomics and robustness it does not achieve, it offers more than double resolution, which allows useful cutouts in case of excessive shooting distances, obviously without losing details and quality. In conclusion, progress is obvious and obvious. A large camera, which forces all other brands to chase for the time being.

Pros: Autofocus, burst, speed, innovation.

Cons: Chromatic aberrations with expensive optics, and gamut color and lower-than-competitive dynamic range.

Opinion: As a owner of almost all canon top-of-the-range bodies, the latter did not fascinate me like previous cameras. Color gamut and dynamic range are still to be improved. Compared to the canon 5dsr it has less colors and detail, and the files look fake and plastic. I find the quality of r6 better as colors but it doesn't have the resolution of r5. This canon didn't thrill me!!!

Pros: Autofocus, burst, sensor, video compartment, construction, "ibis" and flash management in E-TTL

Cons: Real efficiency of the IBIS based on the declared and exposure meter that follows the af point frequently below exposes of 2/3 Stop.

Opinion: I tested IBIS (based on my way of photographing is to make small videos) together with IS but I am satisfied in half indeed a little less than half!!! This test I did with burst shot and in SERVO I took the ef 16-35 f/4 L Is Usm (where Canon declares UP to 4 stops) and put it at 35mm with the R I can keep the time of 1/6 with 50% of the result. with the R5 I can keep the time of 0.3" with 50% of the result Practically the IBIS earns me ONLY 1 STOP I did the test even at 16mm but I had the same result Somewhere in the Canon web I read that the ibis combined with the IS of 16-35 came up to 7.5stop so I would have a gain of 3.5 STOP 2. I took the RF 70-200 L Is Usm (where Canon declares 5 Stop) and put it at 70mm with the R I can keep the time of 0.3" with 50% of the result with the R5 I can keep the time of 0.6" with 50% of the result Also here the IBIS earns me ONLY 1 STOP 3. I took the Sigma 50 f/1.4 ART (not stabilized without IBIS I keep 1/30 with 50% of the result with IBIS I keep 1/6 with 50% of the result Here the IBIS earns me 2 STOP Final deduction In practice the IBIS in addition to is earns me only one stop, and between IS RF and IS EF there is no difference in gain, while with optics without stabilizer the IBIS earns me 2 STOP which is not bad. While in the Video field I manage to have excellent stabilization with EF 16-35 do/4 freehand without finding strange postures as happens to me when I use the R. I really like flash management in E-TTL! I often find myself photographing with flash in dynamic situations where there is no time to use it in manual so I have to use it in Automatic. The flash used is a Canon 470EX Ai often used with automatic or semi-automatic bounce with the plastic diffuser because I happen to take pictures of children in a kindergarten who are often on the move in playful activities, so depending on how I turn I have backlight windows, partially lit areas and areas in favor of light. I rarely find photos overexposed, under exposed or with those very ugly black shadows, practically the algorithm manages to manage the light exceptionally making it always soft, when there is little light and the iso is already at 1600 instead of giving so much power, as happened on the 5D IV and R because iso was stuck at 1600, here it is unlocked so that there is less contrast between natural light and artificial light. On the other cameras I often had to move the iso and adjust it manually to prevent the flash from firing too much light. Not to mention the burst shot that with the flash now manages to do I think 3 shots in a second while with the R about 1.

Pros: Autofocus, file quality, viewfinder, display, 360° versatility

Cons: Price

Opinion: I meditated a lot before the choice, initially on the plate of the scale there was the 1dx II then the 1dx III (really too expensive ) but in the end in my kit there is this amazing machine. The doubt about compatibility with my EF kit has vanished, all the targetss I have works and without any difference on the speed and quality of the images, indeed the Sigma 180 seems more responsive. I spent 3 days studying the advanced manual (I advise everyone to read it) in order to make the most of this little technological monster. Combined with its BG-R10 grip it is perfect to counterbalance my 300 and still grips perfectly. I'm really satisfied and I think I found my ultimate car. Video side I don't express myself because it's not my field

Pros: Autofocus, medium good iso highs, gust. The ability to use the duplicators greatly increased.

Cons: Battery and lag Evf

Opinion: I'm not an expert. So take my opinions "cum grain salis". I can only compare it to the Canon 7d mkII that I have always used only for birds, mostly in flight. The r5 comes and will be used for the same purpose, with the 100-400 and the 500. The only problem I found is the Evf lag when the battery is about 50%. It becomes difficult to follow the birds in flight with the gust, especially the fast ones (and the small ones are....). I also think I found a bug in the software (... I think...): I set the back keys (af and asterisk) to the autofocus. With one I go to the area, with the other on the Eye. I forgot to take the autofocus off the shutter button. For a couple of times I pressed the autofocus eye and the shutter button in half. The car froze and I had to turn it off to reset it. For the rest... damn what a car!

Pros: Pretty much everything...

Cons: M-fn button too small... they could make it a little bit bigger...

Opinion: I would like to start by saying that I also own a SONY A9 and a NIKON D850. I bought the CANON R5 exactly on July 9th, the day of the official presentation, thanks to the pre-order made directly on the Canon website, and on July 30th I arrived home. Now I've been using it for a while now and I can say it's just a FANTASTIC machine..!!! The AF is perfect, the WB is always accurate, the exposure is always correct and then this electronic viewfinder is something magical, it has an extraordinary resolution. I connected an RF 24-70 f2.8, the stabilization of the IBIS - that of the lens really allow to shoot freehand with slow times getting always perfect images, the high ISO works very well and even the HDR I like as much as it works because it is never invasive. As for the video part I use it little but for what little I use it to me they look like videos with an exceptional quality, especially the 8k, but here I have to say that unfortunately when you resume in 8k then it becomes really difficult to handle the video file... I have a 21.5 Mac, but it just can't handle the data stream... It takes very powerful computers to be able to work the video in 8k, so I would say that this 8k as far as I'm concerned will remain a resolution that I will never use... I put the other two cameras aside because with the R5 you don't need anything else... I have to congratulate Canon because he has brought out a real MOSTRO of quality and technology... It's probably going to be a machine that's going to last a few years. Take a little thought... you won't regret it...

Pros: All

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Superb!!!! amazing to say the least I thought long before the purchase having a 5dmk4 I was a bit hesitant, but in the end I made the right choice... don't miss a beat unless you miss the impostazioni.la file quality is impressive, the shadow recovery capability and dynamic range are unrivalled.

Pros: Versatility and responsiveness

Cons: Excellent ergonomics, but perhaps further improveable.

Opinion: Among the aspects that impress the most and that impress at the first uses are definitely: the containment of noise at the high ISO, the stabilization that goes far beyond the expectations and the responsiveness of the autofocus module, as well as its complexity as a whole, which guarantees performance as unusual as excellent. Another very interesting feature, of which little or nothing is talked about, is the incredible development that had the Dual Pixel Raw, now landed on new and interesting practical applications. Coming from the reflex world, at least at the beginning, something seems to be missing in ergonomics, but it resolves with the very high degree of customizations. For reasons of non-use, I can not comment on the video sector.

Pros: live and real colors, superlative quality sights

Cons: unable to register in small RAW

Opinion: I've had this camera for two days and it's already love at first sight. Let's start before the "defects" if we can define them: 1) there is no longer the possibility, as in all the latest cameras, the possibility to record in RAW of small size, very useful when you do not need a thousand pixels. 2) Cost of CFexpress cards still absurdly high... I took a Sandisk from 1700 mbps from 128GB at a price of over 300 euros. They are not defects of who knows what gravity, you learn to live with it but you make themselves heard, especially the files from 45megapizze The positive aspects are then divided into two categories: 1) those strongly touted 2) those passed almost muted on the first even I do not even dwell, they have already talked about it far and wide and I can only confirm them. On the merits not so much told among the various reviews I have identified the following: 1) electronic viewfinder greatly improved both as sharpness, due of course to the double of the px, but especially in the quality of the colors and in the correspondence with the reality of lights and shadows. The previous R-1 crosshairs that I already praised, when approaching extreme exposures tended to show pixels burned earlier than due... this is much more reliable. 2) Joystick's responsiveness: it was my strong fear... instead I found a very fast and fluid command without any kind of snag or slowdown. I was afraid that the thousands of Af points would slow the movement of the Af point while it is quick and accurate. You press the joystick and the dot immediately passes to the center of the frame, not like the R you need to search for and press the trash can button. Configurable the fact that the jostick for the choice of af point is always active and activates at the preemptive press of the button in the upper right dedicated. The position of the joystick is finally perfect... best series 1. 3) the build quality of the body feels that it is of a different class than the R; seems to be holding a flagship. Plastics that actually give a strong metal feel; significantly improved button that returns a beautiful and durable pressure sensation over time. 4) File processing: even with files underexposed to high ISO (below I attach an example to 6400 ISO without corrections) you can recover unthinkable lights and shadows without the grain becoming unmanageable. I dare say that at 6400 ISO exposing right returns a file type the 1Dx2 (which I know well) to 800 ISO... so by eye and cross. 5) the 3 dials: this novelty has gone quite muted... they did not want to enhance the comfort of always having ready the values of the triad times-diaframmi-iso ... I assure you that being able to act on ISO without first having to press any buttons is really a wonderful, fast, responsive thing... Instinctive. A little like you could customize the dial on the new RF optics but having it on the body is available with any optics and a totally different ergonomic comfort. 6) the return of the double card is an indispensable thing in my opinion: it offers the ability to record in double format simultaneously without losing speed or for backup... even though I've never ruined any memorycard the fact of having a copy makes you sleep peaceful dreams. Since there the 8K in the video the CFexpress becomes indispensable otherwise 2 SD would have been the best choice as it is for the R6... lower expenses and a card goes well in both slots as well as being a format more easily found even by a friend outgoing with us. 7) ability to control the external speedlight directly from the camera without the need to purchase external controls... are still another 300 euros about saved that justify the price of the camera

Pros: Construction quality, grip, ergonomics, autofocus system, 2 memory cards, sensitive up to -6EV, LCD screen, electronic viewfinder, image quality, adaptability to EF- EFS optics with adapter, silent click, weight.

Cons: at the moment I have nothing to say

Opinion: Good morning, mine will not be an in-depth review of the EOS R 5, but a partial description of my first "hot" impressions I had using this new Canon camera. I waited a few years confident that Canon would churn out a high-quality mirrorless camera to match it according to my working needs to the other cameras in my possession and I have to say that at the moment (I repeat, first impressions to be verified over time...) Canon has produced an excellent camera that will certainly satisfy the photographer and the professional. The R5 is slightly more voluminous than other competitors, but when you have this camera in your hand you immediately sense that it provides excellent gripeability combined with an excellent level of construction. After reading the manual, I tried to memorize the basic operations that I will use in the daily life of my work and I am very satisfied today, the touch screen responds quickly to the touch and is customizable at will, I would say that the menu is intuitive with a few smudges, just a little patience and training. The Canon RF 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM lens lives up to my expectations, very good and very flexible in various situations. I have tried the compatibility of the EF lenses through the ring adapter ring and I was fully satisfied, which means that at the moment I can use all my EF optics with the usual quality. The level of digital noise even at high iso (12,800) is very well controlled and the files (jpeg) are quietly printable, talk of raw files is early, at the time I write are workable with the canon DPP (digital photo professional) software. You can set the shutter to remain closed (when the camera switch is on off) to prevent the dust from sticking to the sensor when changing lens. By using the video part little I abstain from opinions. I hope I have been helpful, a warm greeting.
