Pros: L series; Ergonomics; Sealed; Stabilized; Solid; Well built; bright.

Cons: It is addictive; If he had been black, it would have been nicer.

Opinion: I use it with the stabilizer off, but the stabilizer-free version isn't tropicalized, which is why I took this. F4 opening I think is right. I recently mounted a Canon 1.4X III multiplier to him, bringing it to 98-280 f5.6, but I don't notice the difference, in the sense that I don't find it dark. It's not super bright, but very bright metrics don't use them because my favorite openings oscillate between f5.6 and f.16, so here we go.

Pros: See paolomcmlx's great review below

Cons: Basically none

Opinion: on these focal points I tried a little bit of everything, the first love was (and in some ways still is) the hawthorn, that is, the 70-200/2.8 L IS II but the weight and the objective difficulty in bringing it everywhere became, over time, good reasons to change it but it was not easy. In fact, it took two optics instead of one and precisely a 135L and this 70-200/4 (which I also preferred to the 70-300 L). It is not white, in fact its nickname "affective" is "white" and it is not only a question of the obvious difference between f/4 and f/2.8, the hawthorn is superior to him in everything but, although not bordering on the excellence of white I found it surprising in real use on the street, I feared much worse, the optical quality is definitely good, the lightness and transportability do the rest. I find this couple more comfortable than just the white one, and if you don't have to go to an auditorium or other situations with poor light, you can go out with this alone. There's only one thing I didn't understand about Canon at this stage: why he wanted to do a useless version II of this zoom is a mystery.

Pros: Sharpness, excellent construction, tropicalization, circular diaphragm, weight and small size, excellent value for money.

Cons: Basically no one, at the limit a not perfect backlight hold, however inevitable in a zoom and in any case no worse than that of 135/2 L, and a minimum distortion but I repeat: these are flaws that can be charged to a fixed certainly not to a zoom.

Opinion: In my opinion, this is a somewhat extraordinary objective, since it maintains a truly exemplary clarity at all focal points, and is also quietly able not to disfigure in comparison with the best fixed focal optics; all enclosed in a robust and well-structured body without even being particularly bulky and heavy, and even the blurry, although not particularly soft, contains a remarkable texture and pleasantness.

Pros: Sharpness, stabilization, blurry, build quality, super tested and L-series

Cons: NO cons!

Opinion: I have had it for several years, and I can certainly say that it is an excellent goal. Very pleasant its blurry, lightning-fast focus, and its robust construction. For years on the market, it has been one of canon's best targets. It is not afraid of comparisons. Light as transportability and at the same time solid. I can certainly only highly recommend it!

Pros: All

Cons: if you don't need the 2.8, NONE

Opinion: It is lightweight, tropicalized, stabilized (including panning mode), fast and reliable MAF, compact (internal zoom). What more to ask for? Ah yes the price of the used is great! I've been owning it for 5 years now, and it's a marvel from focus to color rendering. I mainly use it to "chase" my 2 monelli (which are never immobile) and it is giving me many satisfactions. With the extension tubes I was able to make even more than satisfactory macros. If you don't need a 2.8 (but watch your weight and pay attention to what you choose!), because you're professional or otherwise, it's your lens!

Pros: Sharp, Light, Tropicalized, Efficient Stabilization

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Optics that do not need presentations, at this time begins to become accessible even on the new if you have a minimum of patience in research or negotiation with stores. Beautiful blurring, detachment of the planes, separation of colors and sharpness I think have very few rivals in its band, the only venial defect that it carries with it is the fact that it does not go unnoticed, otherwise it is compact, light, robust, ideal companion of photographic outputs because it is versatile.

Pros: L quality, sharpness, stabilizer, price (used), transsporability.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Fantastic lens, sharp, stabilized , preceding and fast in focus. bought model built at the end of 2013 for a few hundred euros. despite being an F4 lens, it gives remarkable results, soft and pleasant blurry and an excellent color rendering (often used for portraits). Its sharpness splits the hair already at F4. I recommend this lens to those who want to make a leap in quality without having to spend much (used price talking ).

Pros: Sharpness, weight, speed and precision AF, colors.

Cons: I can't find any.

Opinion: Bought for a few months now at a good price, used but indistinguishable from the new, which even to find it again, for the prices requested would take you to buy the Series II. Right from the start I found a special feeling with a net floor detachment and high contrast. The lower weight made me prefer it to the big brother 2.8 series II, so a place in the backpack is always found. I owned the 70-200 f2.8 of Sigma years ago and when I changed it, in favor of the stabilized 70-300 Tamron, the shoulders heartily thanked. I arrive at this 70-200 f4 L IS from a modest Tamron 70-300 stabilized that accompanied me for several years and then from a smooth version of the white (purchased with guarantee of 6 months), but made after just a month for the manifestation of the fateful focus shift that usually afflicts the IS version. What to say the Tamron was good, but comparing and enlarging to 100% you realize that the difference is there and it is not pochina, then sacrifice the 100mm more it offered, but especially from 250mm up were not quite exceptional. Then what to add that others have not already pointed out? The lampshade? That's, or you're going to buy the tulip ones on Amazon. Isn't the easel attack included? But even this you already know at the time of purchase, also as with the Tamron stabilized, the monopod or tripod is something that is used very rarely, unlike with smooth white. However, now on amazon with about 25 euros take a good metal attack with a color completely equal to the optics and with the fast attack of the type Arca Swiss. Even today very valid and highly recommended.

Pros: Fairly light and compact, internal focus and zoom, stabilized, good quality

Cons: For now, no one

Opinion: Taken used but to see it looks new!! In your hand it gives you a nice feeling of solidity. When you use it, you appreciate its qualities!! Once I switched to ff I needed a good quality canvas, stabilized, that didn't cost a madiness and didn't weigh so much. I found a good chance and here we are. Of course brother f2. 8 is more luninous but weight and cost rise. That, in my opinion, is a good compromise. In addition to taking beautiful photos the thing that drives me crazy in using it is the softness of zoommata. I had entry level goals and still another L series (24 70 f4) but the fluidity with which the zoom dive moves on this lens is super, of butter!!!! I recommend to those who want a light zoom, quality, used does not cost a kidney with which to have fun.

Pros: Sharpness, weight, stabilizer, speed

Cons: Bulky paralight

Opinion: This lens makes me excited with every passing day: impressive sharpness already at f/4, gorgeous colors, super precise focus speed and performing IS. I have used street in Milan these days and it did not disappoint me at all, only great satisfactions: it is the lens of life Unique negative note the lampshade too bulky and perhaps the lack of the ring for the tripod. Paired with the 7D it's scary

Pros: L-series, 4-stop image stabilizer, USM, compact, light, very pricey, constant f/4, chromatics, sharpness, in-view, blurry.

Cons: Nothing. Just a note, but insignificant. I had to get the ring for tripod attack, since they sell it separately.

Opinion: A stratospheric telephoto lens to say the least. Excellent color yield and sharpness. It's the optics I use and prefer when I have to do portraits, since it has a knockout blur. And then it is equipped with image stabilizer where you can go down well by 4 stops... and it's no small feat!!! Especially recommended for shooting butterflies also, since I love photographing lepiddeurs. In short, a little gem to be kept with much regard and never to sell!!!

Pros: L series, weight, colors, constant f4, price

Cons: Nobody.

Opinion: Already had in the past a few years ago then sold for big brother. What about...... nothing against it. First of all, the weight weighs exactly half of the big brother f2.8, and if you don't need a bright opening for indoor photos this is an exceptional optics, for portraits and landscape. After about 4 years spent with the Hawthorn I realized how wonderful this optics is, Fantastic Broker but the weight eventually became felt and considering how much I used it at TA I decided to take a step back.... Of course, the step back refers only to the aperture that goes from f2.8 to f4. The maximum f4 aperture is not a flaw, it is stabilized and you manage to get off by 4real stops. Af fast and precise, great colors no color aberration, spinning, or distortions, no problem regarding the infamous slipping focus. Also used with 1.4x multiplier becomes a fixed f5.6 still of excellent workmanship. I highly recommend it, there are no negative considerations.

Pros: All

Cons: Unique in the are the vignetting, correctable in post with automatic profiles, and the beige painting too light.

Opinion: I should sell it to switch to Sony FF, and among all the lenses is the one that I regret most to sell. Do not miss a photo, whatever the genre you want to photograph. Light, sharp, balanced, chromatically excellent, gives perfect images, even too much, sometimes seem fake so they are perfectly in focus. Over time it has ruined the surface paint, not for scratches, the white color is actually a thin layer on the bottom of black paint. Too bad, because I used it with regard.

Pros: Lightness, sharpness, transportability

Cons: Nothing to report

Opinion: A jewel, purchased used in excellent condition, was a few years at my side employed to approach the world of nature photography paired with my 7d mark II. The two main qualities of this glass are the sharpness (even a TA) and the weight that make travel companion reliable, precise, discreet. Obviously a little short as the maximum focal distance for wildlife photography so, before we passed on to anything else, I picked up a Canon 1.4x III teleconverter. The behavior from multiplied is excellent, it will be the last perfect generation of Canon multipliers or it will be the same lens, but the results were of absolute prominence. If you do not need higher focal distances, this lens is a bargain in relation to the price in which it is now, especially if used. I used it sporadically also for portraits, it seems too engraved for this kind. In One word: Highly recommended.

Pros: Optical quality and constructive, AF speed, sealed and stabilized.

Cons: Price from again considered that the third-party manufacturers are churning out fearsome rivals and performing

Opinion: I purchased used about three months ago. Again I would not have taken it as it has a formidable competitor in the Tamron G2 which is also brighter and costs less. That being said I use little just because I love too wide angle lenses but when I need is perfect. Sharp already at room temperature, weighs the right, internal focus and internal zoom. Substantially in its class of tele is not iperluminoso don't think rivals. The autofocus is very fast and accurate even on my Canon 200 d which only has 9 points to focheggio in the viewfinder. Good focus, good color rendering. I'll look for him a duplicator Kenko 1.4 x hoping that all behave as I read in many reviews. If I recommend it? used it, certainly ... is a real number L.

Pros: Colors and sharpness at the top

Cons: At the moment none

Opinion: I wanted to buy one to have a canvas in my backpack and two for the excellent reviews in the end were not wrong good optics and clear beautiful colors point 3 and its strength the moderate cost for a series L, tested on APSC and FF and it does not disappoint on either. The car focuses and fast enough and the weight is not bad, the rest I have said the others

Pros: Colors, sharpness, excellent stabilizer, af very fast, build quality, lightness

Cons: For me no one

Opinion: Bought used by a friend who after 5 months has changed it with the 2.8 ... for my joy. I find it extraordinary. I've used it up to now on aps-c and now that I'm going to ff is the only lens that I kept for the joy of my eyes and even ... pockets:) rnMi like how it behaves, the clarity of images and, above all, lightness. The fact that f4 does not affect me, the older brother is too heavy and then costs an eye.

Pros: good sharpness, speed of action

Cons: nothing special except the bulk, but it is so, unfortunately it is not foldable.

Opinion: I've been trying for a long time even 2.8, but I honestly prefer the less bright. It is much more precise and incisive. One of my colleague sold me to buy 2.8 instead! However, it is a good optic, but it does not hurt the previous one. Of course, I keep it tight, and even though I use it with a limited frequency, it has technically given me some great satisfaction.rn

Pros: sharpness and colors, high speed, remarkable stabilization, solidity and build quality, low weight for an L series, fixed diaphragm brightness.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I couldn't choose a medium long zoom better I think. Light to be an L-series, quality (colors, blurred, tropicalization), precise and sharp at all focal distances and diaphragm openings, finally the autofocus is a splinter as usual for the USM and stabilization helps a lot. I think he's going to be in the set for... All the time. At the limit we cried a 1.4x II in addition, and away go! :)

Pros: Sharpness at all focal lengths and diaphragms. Colors, lightweight, robust, size (compared to 2.8), stabilizer.

Cons: Uncomfortable haze to handle.

Opinion: After a year of use, I also want to express my full satisfaction for this zoom. Used on 40D, it delivers great images, colors, sharpness to every iris and focal length. Also nice is the blur that from 135mm onwards is also great at f4. Now I will use it on the 5DII just purchased and I'm sure I will not disappoint. Stabilizer great.

Pros: Sharpness, rendered colors, AF, IS, robustness, weight

Cons: For my use, no one.

Opinion: Since the age does not give you anything, I changed the version without IS with this because the hands are no longer a rock ... ;-) and because I always take a free hand, sometimes with really low times. Its * sferragliare * accompanies the use, but for the kind I do is not a problem. I find it fast and precise, very sharp and with good colors. Always in my bag / backpack when I do not need 100-400 and when i want something less flashy (ehhmmm ..., in short ...). Nice glass.

sent on May 13, 2017

Pros: Superb sharpness, great focal length for varied use, construction and solidity, all in addition to the used price, fast AF

Cons: It's not 2.8, AF though quick sometimes has difficulty focusing close distances (even within the 1.2-1.5mt limit), 6D sometimes unsafe AF, not easy to use for those who like me landscapes

Opinion: Bought after reading extremely positive comments. First click that I look at the PC completely restless. Scary sharpness that does not require any PP intervention. The same thing happened to me with the 16-35 f4 IS but the 70-200 seems to me to be much more incisive. It's a good one I use very little by taking mostly landscapes, I hope to use it for some portrait. Surely if you are looking for quality the 70-200 f4 is the right choice. The 2.8 is less clear (at least the first versions), the others cost considerably too much.

avatarsenior
sent on March 03, 2017

Pros: Exceptional quality, very fast and quiet AF, very valid stabilizer even up to 4 stops, lightness, focus and internal zooming that keep the size of the lens unchanged.

Cons: Perhaps the white color that makes it very flashy, the paralight a little cumbersome and the price of the new that is not quite within reach of all pockets.

Opinion: Exceptional optics for chromatic rendering and sharpness. Great for landscapes, but also for portraits and sports photos as long as you do not search for close-ups from 50 meters away. If it were black it would be more discreet and less flashy, but then those canonists who "pull it" could no longer pull it easily. I've been using it for 2 years and I'm very happy with it; taken used by a friend who bought himself (blessed him!) the lens counterpart f. 2.8 (stunning, but heavier!).

Cons: I sold it ... shame on me ...

Opinion: exceptional goal. Just came out I sold immediately freatellino unregulated for that. The quality is impressive, never replicated in any other lens in my possession. I used it a lot, even in Safari with the multiplier 1.4x and I have never betrayed neither nor disappointed. Defects I've never found. Pros: Sharpness already TA, AF, weight, optical performance in general, effective IS, weather sealing, price.

Cons: IS noisy and quite thirsty for electricity, ring tripod sold separately and with exorbitant price.

Opinion: I own quest'obbiettivo for about 5 years and I find it amazing. The landscape is a killer, lends itself well to the portrait and, in decent lighting conditions, that's great for the sport. Sharpest already at f4, improves further closing, even slightly, the diaframma.rnStabilizzazione efficacious, pity about the loud "click-zzzzz" that emits every time you turn. The charm of being a "white" you pay at the discretion of (well known), if he did that noise would be better, because it becomes more difficult to go unnoticed. Also impacting more than other IS lenses in my possession on the autonomy of batterie.rnrnL'anello tripod is helpful but the original, not given it an indecent price. Pros: Portability, excellent image quality already at full aperture, tropicalization.

Cons: I find no particular contrast, those who seek him know benissimpo which is white (cream) and is f4.

Opinion: I use this as amateur zoom is on APSC (50D) than on FF (6D) and I must say it is very good on both formats, of course FF has increased use since the minimum focal length is "real" but of the APSC 200mm x1. 6 come in handy in different situations. I used it for sports, portraits, landscapes and wildlife / nature in general gave me great satisfaction. I think that an amateur photographer "normal" can safely settle for this purpose by the "normal" price but by excellent performance. Those who want more spending much more.

Cons: noisy stabilizer, lack tripod ring, WHITE, and thus not very discreet, not having

Opinion: I love this lens, proven to canon day of Palermo, bought the day after taking advantage of a very good offer of Euronic and cashback canon 150 euro.rnL'obittivo is impeccable in all, can not fault it! Rni pros and cons found them up there ! rnlo stabilizer will be noisy, bulky hood, the color is not the most discreet, but looking at the pictures made with this gem makes you forget all these (do not call them that) difetti.rnHo coupled this objective at 16-35 f4 and an .stm 50cc and already I think my outfit is nearly complete.

Pros: virtually all

Cons: stabilizing a bit noisy

Opinion: It 's my first zoom and really are satisfied. For those who make photographic safari 200 mm unmultiplied I am a bit short. I find it a very useful lens to take with when traveling, very clear already at maximum opening and closing improves a few stop the diaphragm. It 'a feather, very light considering also the presence of the stabilizer. Ugly and uncomfortable the lens hood, slightly noisy stabilizer and cumbersome. If you want quality and a abordabile price, on the market are good offers, this is a lens to be reckoned with.

Pros: Construction, constant f / 4, sharpness, stabilizer, autofocus

Cons: Lack of tripod ring, bulky lens hood

Opinion: Finally my first L series lens, I have not tried it yet in every condition but with about 200 shots (motorbike) some things I immediately noticed especially comparing it with the 55-250 STM that has stopped (which again costs a quarter of the 70-200 used). I will not dwell on solidity and tropicalization, it is an L series and there is no need to add anything else.rnrnIn practical tests I immediately found it very clear both at the center and at the extremes at all focal distances. At full aperture is excellent, closing up to 7.1 improved a bit 'and to my surprise it is very clear even at f / 13 (over I have not yet tried) .rnAction chromatic, vignetting and distortion absent. It must be said that I use it on a 1200D (aps-c) so the sensor only sees the center of the light cone, that is, the typically best part of each lens. Let's say that I put racing tires on a panda ... rnAutofocus precise, reactive like a modern STM but in my opinion even faster and more precise (absence of focus). rnrn -------------- rnUpdate: for a year I use it on FF, I can only confirm the qualities of this fantastic lens, even when the use with attached the extender (Canon 1.4x II) remains excellent.rnStabilizer very effective, I consider very likely the 4 stops declared. Surely the technology is different from the current one, comes into operation with a slight delay and stops a couple of seconds after releasing the shutter (while the latest stabilizers work virtually on / off instantly without almost hearing the noise), however his work does him very well. rnThis lens is a project of 10 years ago, I had no doubts about the quality of construction and optics but I did not expect miracles from autofocus and stabilizer, instead hold up the comparison with the most modern technologies.rnrnThe lens is not heavy or bulky , but the final diameter of the hood is quite large so it can be cumbersome to store but at the same time guarantees stability when you support the photocamere "face down" .rn

Pros: sharpness

Cons: focus slipping

Opinion: Possible that in the reviews no one speak of the enormous problem that this lens. There are lots of people who have this problem in making vertical fire and everyone says that it's okay? Professional a lens that costs EUR 900/1000 should work without any problema.Come all things there may be some bad lens but so many no.E the funny thing 'that many owners have not yet or never will riscontrato.Poi happen to buy it used at a good price, and find that 'faulty send it in for repair, spend some money and close accorgerti that the final price, at the end, far exceeds that of the new. Cons: I do not think it's easy to find!

Opinion: I use it on a 'aps-c (320mm) for the photographic hunting to f / 4 or at f / 5.6 with the multiplier (slows slightly AF) EF-1.4II (448mm) and' exceptional and gave me a lot of satisfaction preserving a relatively low budget! then that allows you to zoom in but that still coserva quality 'd' image of a 'fixed lens senior mon and' underestimated. I have one EF-300 f / 4IS but the gain and 'only on the speed' of the 'AF avoiding the Extender EF-1.4II otherwise I have nothing to regret! rnsuperconsigliato !!!!

Pros: Exemplary sharpness, lightweight, stabilized, tropicalized. A real gem.

Cons: Stabilizer just a little noisy.

Opinion: You are right Paolopi when you say Can it ever be a fault if I choose a petrol car and then mention the flaws that it is petrol? The example you bring is perfect;) But many people do not know what they say. But then if there is little light to have a f f2.8 lens or a f4 that changes? Just lift up the iso of a stop. Or maybe you want to insinuate that in a situation of poor lighting who has a f2.8 does the shooting and who has a f4 can not do it? I found myself photographed in the interior and the shooting difficulties there are for both the lenses both f4 and f2.8. Having a f2.8 does not solve the problem in low light situations, as if a f2.8 was the winning move. There is a lot of ignorance about the dear Paolopi .... for one stop of difference the one is worth the other. If they were 2 stops of difference then the advantage would be really substantial.

Pros: Clarity, weight, weather sealed, AF

Cons: F4

Opinion: Lens sharpness impressive, fast AF, weather sealed, not too heavy, stable, a real blade; landscapes, portraits, wildlife I never tried because it's not the kind of photos you snap, but I guess it's a little short ... although it can be multiplied ... in extreme situations with the stabilizer and raising the ISO allows you to achieve excellent results ... for non-professional use that I do is perfect! Opinion: I own it for some years now and although I sometimes get the urge to change it with the greatest big brother, I think I can go to the cost and weight of the Canon 70 200 f2.8 is II.rnIl bianchino is a versatile lens, lightweight and clear at all apertures and focal lengths, also not tired to carry it around attached to the car all day, even during trekking in montagna.rnL'autofocus is accurate and velocissimo.rnA sometimes photographing concerts, with the 6D, being a F4 are at the limit and I have to raise the ISO, but the results are still buoni.rnQuando need mm more we add the 1.4 tc iii Canon and the quality remains high: to see the differences you have to zoom in to monitor the 100% excellent rnUn goal! rnrn

Opinion: Used for a short time but "squeezing" maximum in 2 outputs for wildlife (no birds) .rnOvviamente for nature in general is short, but in my opinion, to use from time to time and for large animals (chamois, ibex, deer etc. ) and with due caution is sufficiente.rnL'ho used with the 70D multiplied (1.4x Kenko Pro 300 DGX) and not and I must say that I found myself very well, certainly the multiplication slows down a little bit but nothing AF critico.rnPer other genres is fantastic, I loved it sfocato.rnrn

Pros: Good in all, it does what it should and the right coast

Cons: ndn

Opinion: I own it for two years and it was a choice ponderatissima. I am a professional and I chose the "little brother" x a number of reasons: weight, made entirely paragonabilie to 2.8 (at the same aperture and focal) footprint is, af excellent and the price of 40% infetiore. I am a portrait painter and love fixed, but the zoom qursto always carry with me, and when I call into question responds properly is sharp and well in counter-balanced chromatic level, I'm not a fanatic of diagrams and extreme tests, the picture is more for me . Usually I always two bodies hanging with its lens and carry around a 2.8 is would be a sacrifice. I recommend it. Ps I read some reviews and I read as account: "only f.4" I would understand if it is a surprise and you did not know before buying it? Pros: Construction in the first place, Series L, Tropicalisation, Speed ??AF (USM), Lightness, Sharpness, Stabilizer (2 types), maneuverability.

Cons: "Only" F4, ring not included in the package

Opinion: This was my first lens over 70mm. I wanted to stand tall choosing "bianchino stabilized" the four 70-200 proposes that the canon. Well I have immediately LOVE and would not go back for anything in the world. In the first place I put the all-metal construction worthy of a L-series lens and care of every detail. the lens itself makes her figure !! I chose the version stabilized F4 as it gets sometimes to recover 4-stop and also for the use that I do and 200mm in my opinion is a must to have the stabilizer (a bit noisy but it's nothing) that is proposed in two ways of use (mode 1 which works for any situation, the way that works for two subjects in motion perpendicular to the use of the camera). the lens is to clear all the openings, no vignetting nor neither distortion nor chromatic aberrations of any kind. if you have to just do a critique has a little flare but you can eliminate even more with the lens hood dotazion (not the best but there is). The locknuts are to smooth and pleasant to the touch. Presents the full time manual focus. My usage is on APS-C and I have to say that it very well on my 600d so I dare not imagine what would become of FF monster! The Council !!

Opinion: This lens was my first L series and out of the box, I do not regret the money spent! excellent construction and exceptional strength. I had to use it in the rain for a soccer tournament and with the lens hood fitted, did not bat an eyelid. Regarding the sharpness, nothing to say, closed in a bit pulls out of the images excellent and also to F4 the results are very good. I was undecided whether to throw me on canon tamron 2.8 or 2.8 but for economic reasons (canon) and materials (tamron) I chose the smallest little brother! Stabilizer great. The lack of the ring I did not weigh that much. I found a ring of Phottix € 15 with velvety interior and exterior metal. recommended target

Cons: "Solo" f4, ring not included in the price ...... nothing

Opinion: Fantastic Canon telephoto lens, the "Whitey" is my first objective above 70mm, and my second series L (The other is the excellent 17-40 f4) .rnLa construction is bulletproof: solid, sturdy, easy to handle , tropical conditions: just hold it to understand what he is made this little gem ... the thing that impressed me was the weight: only 760 grams for this lens; accustomed to 17-40 with fixed lenses and it pleases me very much, because I do not like to travel pesante.rnEsteticamente is also very nice, with a great design to my taste, plus it's weather sealed, and then constructively we are really at my Top.rnLa second option was the Sigma 70-200 2.8 stabilized, but weighs more than twice and really think there is an abyss at the level of construction and quality of materials, despite having more or less the same APS-C costo.rnUsato on the quality and 'excursion are significant, it returns an incredible detail and sharpness to the images; the stabilizer allows you to earn at least 3 stops buoni (also 4) and Autofocus Lens is truly remarkable (a wire noisy but it is a detail) .rnSu FF (5D2) the yield is still higher ... the thing that left me speechless is the His extraordinary incisiveness and dimensions to f4, if you close to 1 stop embarrassing the quality that the bianchino can regalare.rnInoltre from 70mm up to 200mm optical perfection has a disarming, and it is totally free of distortion and chromatic aberration in any diaframma.rnI are saturated colors, rich detail, high contrast and very nice bokeh (we consider that it is f4 !!!): ques'ottica is a MUST for every canonist ... now that I own I can understand what the field words that it is hard to descrivere.rnParaluce and soft case are standard, while the tripod ring (expensive in my opinion ...) must be purchased separatamente.rnIo I use it for landscapes, architecture and urban details, photos " stolen "around the city, manifestations / outdoor events, reportage (really light), Closeups posing and "improvised" and also dark places such as churches where the stabilizer (very useful in both modes) is richiesto.rnNon practical photographic hunting and outdoor sports , but I think the second option for this lens is able to get away with egregiamente.rnSe you need a 2.8 stabilized by steering the harrier, but if you do not require a diaphragm so open, this tele for me is the # 1 !!! Cons: Mancacanza ring for Tripod (original Expensive), F4

Opinion: Since they are in possession can not do at least use it with both 70D with 5DMarkIII that has a light output with Spectacular colors and rendering Details Incisors much, I use it to 90% in Freehand is very portable you can Photographing throughout the day, you can multiply by 1 / 4x without losing too much quality on both formats, while the 2x can be used with parsimony with FF format with the APSC sconsiglio.Lo advice to those who can not afford to buy the Brother II 2.8 both the weight that the cost will not regret it I have tried the 2.8 but it is very heavy if you are not using it in the studio or with the tripod, and the True 2.8 II is more powerful because of the Focal wider and a construction more accurate multipliable with 2x without losing detail, but for what it costs if you want a zoom multipliable is the best 400 / 5.6 spending half or even the old 100/400. I use to remedy the 70-200f4-IS with MT1 / 4x with my 70D with no problem.

Cons: Not specified

Opinion: A lens that will surprise you with its stabilizer really powerful to see the slight chromatic aberration you shoot in very difficult situations otherwise not actually see anything, maybe if you really need to find fault and that someone might not like the buzz emanating stabilizer, the filter diameter of 67mm also allows you not to spend much higher figures for the latter, the comparison personally with his older brother f/2.8 should not be done, costs twice as much and it is heavier

Opinion: A superlative optics, a real blade, characterized by clarity at the highest level that can compete with the 70-200 f2.8 mark II (which weighs and costs more than twice). Excellent at all openings also to F4. The sharpness is surprisingly also the corners of the frame. The color rendition is excellent: I had also intervening in post-production to eliminate the haze of the atmosphere (the weather was wet). Aberrations almost non-existent. The speed of focus with the 5DMKII is great and if the limits itself to 3 meters becomes truly instantaneous. For use in road freehand is suitable given the weight really content. Cons: No.

Opinion: A "must" for the canonists. It 'an objective free from defects, with perfect image quality already at 70mm at RT. The light weight allows you to carry it everywhere, maybe with 1.4x multiplier. The AF is lightning (especially if you tare from 3 meters to infinity), the stabilizer really effective, robust and tropical. The bokeh, although not to the levels of other targets far more celebrated, is more than good. Pros: Clarity, strength, AF, low noise, F4 throughout the focal length stabilizer with two axles

Cons: It's "only" 200 mm

Opinion: It 'a superb lens can make beautiful landscapes, portraits, and why not ... video quality. The stabilizer earns at least 4 stops and allows you to shoot in low light like optical 2.8. The image quality is perfect, the colors are very saturated and contrasted. Surprisingly also the softness of the bokeh despite its limited opening. The autofocus is fast and quiet, so the lens is well suited to pictures of animals and birds, and it is for his performances that unfortunately the "feel" short. The problem is marginal if you work on APS-C and add a 1.4x extender (you will not lose the autofocus or stabilization). The stabilizer allows you to take pictures of landscapes by hand with great clarity. On the easel need to disable IS.

Opinion: Without mincing words is the best in its class, excellent weight / performance ratio, constant aperture, sharp at all focal lengths and apertures, a true champion! If you are not interested in higher brightness, with just under 1000 euro you bring home a beautiful lens and you can (something important and often underestimated) take with you, given its lightweight. APSC of its range of focal also allows to use it for birds. A lens which will hardly be separated. Defects? For me, no.

Pros: Impressive sharpness, lightness, excellent stabilizer, construction, speed, value for money, tropicalization

Cons: Nobody except the limited opening.

Opinion: A lens with emotions, characterized by great clarity, remains to this day one of the sharpest zoom lenses on the market, compact, lightweight and fast, has the Canon stabilization system that allows you to take even in unfavorable light, bridging the gap with goals brighter. The ability to capture the detail is comparable to many fixed lightness allows you to use where weight is not required (I shoot often going in snowboarding and a 2.8 gets heard) does not show chromatic aberration even at the widest aperture, the Distortion is virtually absent, the soft blur characterizes it, only sore suffers a little in backlit conditions of extreme flare, this brother more than 2.8 L IS II USM that is absolutely not comparable by price (twice) and construction (4 years of technology are felt). A lens with which to make portraits from fear and sports photo day. An excellent value for money can make accessible the optical quality of typical bianconi also to those who do not want to spend big bucks. A lens that once purchased hardly think of selling
