sent on October 28, 2022 Pros: Absolutely excellent performance, beautiful colors on both Olympus and Lumix bodies, silent AF, razor-sharp, professional construction! Cons: It risks not letting me use other Lenses anymore Opinion: There are few things to say, I have never had an all-rounder zoom that has a fixed yield everywhere! He never missed a beat, absurd colors and superb sharpness. I have a D610 with the tamron 28-75 and it is not as brood as the Leica, ditto my old Fujifilm X-T30 with the 18-55 f2.8 and the 16-55 are not so sharp unless I close the diaphragm! All-metal construction and excellent material quality. In short, my favorite lens currently! It was not understood, right? :) |
sent on September 11, 2020 Pros: Sharpness, build quality, color tones. Balanced focal excursion from wide angle to medium canvas, which allows quality to all focal points, from 12 to 60. Cons: On compact rooms in the gx series, the weight is felt (I suppose even on the small Olympus M10 and M5 home). If it had been a little smaller and lighter it would have been perfect. It's f2.8 only at 12mm. Opinion: Taken to replace the 12-32 kit, the first thing you notice right away is the build quality. Shooting you appreciate everything else. The sharpness and "crunchiness" of the photos stand out immediately. The fact that zommando moves quickly from f2.8 to f3.5 is actually a weak spot that immediately puts the buyer's question about whether to buy this or the Zuiko 12-40 f2.8. The extra stop in itself is not a big problem and does not lose the quality, also because the blurry is pleasant even at 60mm, but... |
sent on April 09, 2020 Pros: Color, contrast, sharpness at very high levels. Construction quality and tropicalization. Cons: Nobody. Opinion: Purchased about 3 and a half years ago in kit with Lumix GH5, it was my entry into the micro 4/3 world. I chose Panasonic for the catalog presence of Leica optics and for the possibility, via adapter, to use the old Leica R optics. The 12-60 is an excellent all-rounder target, which today I mainly use with a GX8 body. I find them an excellent pairing for street photography and travel photos, when the prevailing need is to travel light and photograph in fluency. The results never disappoint, in any circumstance. |
sent on January 25, 2020 Pros: Highest quality, stabilization, AF-MF and Power O.I.S. buttons, versatility 24-120 Cons: Weight and size just over the limit of the m4/3 philosophy, made in china Opinion: Purchased to replace the Panasonic Lumix G 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH OIS of 2009, after 10 years of honored service, first used with the G1 and most recently with the G80. The first things of panaleic that are immediately evident are the larger size, weight and extraordinary build quality (metal and glass with a fluid lychee zoom) that immediately give the feeling to the touch that you are maneuvering a precision instrument. This lens changed the character of the photographs by giving that extra edge and sharpness that were missing at the excellent 14-45. The detail is very clean and we immediately notice it, even before the shot, when the MF assistant intervenes by zooming the camera to 8x. The 2.8 to 12mm opened up new possibilities for me compared to the 14 3.5, it seems little but it's like having an extra goal. The 60mm with f4, compared to 45mm f5.6, also added value for portraits. All while maintaining a very high image quality and that I am not going to explain why it is easily understandable by looking at the many photos posted. The stabilization combined with that of the G80 sensor is impressive! The buttons on the lens are very comfortable! All this is enough for me to give my modest "10" rating to the goal. However, I hold back the praise because: - I suffer a little because it is made in china, as is also my G80... With the G1 and the 14-45 I had got used to the "made in japan" near "panasonic" - the weight and clutter are not from philosophy micro four-thirds - the size of the lens are not perfectly compatible with the internal flash of the G80, so you have to take into account that the shadow will invade the frame on the subjects nearby |
user144605 ![]() ![]() | sent on August 22, 2019 Pros: Equivalent focal length 24-120; Opening diaphragm; Tropicalization; Standard lampshade Cons: Flare; Ghost images; Edge sharpness Opinion: It is my custom to stress equipment, testing bodies and lenses in the most diverse contexts (street, landscape, portraiture, night, etc.). This Pana-Leica proved to be versatile, ideal to carry attached to the machine for a full photo day without feeling the need for other lenses. It does everything right and stabilization helps when you need it. The construction is excellent and solid and gives great sensations although I would prefer a larger manual focus dial. Paired with the micro 4:3 Olympus (E-M1, E-M5, E-M5 MkII) produces undoubtedly good files but with problems kneading on greens (e.g. trees and foliage), reds (e.g. flowers) and and ghosts in the backlight and in night photographs. The sharpness at the edges also decays a little to intermediate diaphragms. On the other hand, chromatic aberrations are almost absent. Overall, an all-do that I would recommend, given the fact that it has no competitors among the standard zooms apart from the 12-40 2.8 Olympus (but to me the 20mm more than the Pana-Leica are convenient). |
sent on July 01, 2019 Pros: Everything: focal excursion, enough macro, sharpness, lightness, blurry quality, AF speed, silence, stabilizer, no flare or particular ghost, tropicalization, ..... Cons: A little bigger and heavier than the kit (similar to the 12-40), more expensive than the kits Opinion: I am totally satisfied with this lens. I can't find any particular faults for him. It solves all situations with the focal excursion that goes from 24 to 120 of an FF. He can get a lot of fire up close so that he can take pictures of little flowers and insects, so on an excursion I can do almost everything beautifully, from the panorama, to the closeup, to the photo of some animal if at a short distance. When I use it to portray it is fine, clearly with the blurring limits of an m4/3, that is, a 60mm that opens to F4 at most. Even at night I have no problems in the presence of light. Before I used various lenses, from kit zooms to fixed, well the 12-60 replaced them all, I rarely happen to use the 14-45, the 25 1.4 or the 60 2.8. For me we recommended. |
sent on June 29, 2019 Pros: focal extension, lightness, colors, build quality, tropicalization, price and blazon Cons: the only flaw I found is that I found myself involuntarily with the anti-vibration disengaged by moved key by mistake and that could be better protected Opinion: A must-have handyman for the micro 4/3 system; the absence of constant f. 2.8 is absolutely made up of the combined anti-vibration of the machine body and lens; it really photographs itself with unthinkable freehand times; lightness and compactness are also unthinkable in positive for those like me who come from the full frame reflex world; despite having bought a complete equipment of lenses for all uses I think I will end up using this 95% also because it reaches up to 120 mm. equivalent, really many |
sent on January 29, 2019 Pros: Lightness, focal hike, construction Cons: Nobody Opinion: What about, excellent lens under all points of view and at a good price if taken from kits. It's great to have the focal lengths from 24 to 120 in such a small and qualitative package. The construction, like all the Panaleica is excellent and makes it very pleasant to use. Tropicalization Excellent. Sharpness and very good aberration correction, has a particular stamp that I love (also had the pana 12-60 smooth and JPG that come out of the EM1 II are immediately distinguished). Blurred just mentioned, given the format, but that makes me crazy. Only downside: You will want to try 8-18 and 100-400 (which are excellent) and 50-200 (which I have not tried yet). Compared to the Oly 12-40 loses a stop, but gains in flexibility and I find the yield softer and natural |
sent on October 27, 2018 Pros: Constructive quality, versatility, ergonomics, tropicalization, the focus distance does not change with the focus, so great for video, good sharpness, always very fast focus. Cons: f/2.8 only at 12mm, good sharpness but not excellent Opinion: I used two copies and they're pretty much identical in all. Obviously it's a limited sample, but it's reassuring to have quality control confirmations, which is supposed to be particularly accurate for a premium lens like this. I was surprised by the build quality: I have never had a lens of such a invoice. Solid, geometric tolerances are very small, like a caliber of precision, yet the drive of the zoom and focus ghieres is fluid and well-muffled, perfect for video. It does not suffer from barrel extension when oriented downwards and is very versatile. It is ideal as a travel goal. However, it tends to be darker than you expect: as soon as you turn the zoom dial, you see the aperture go from f/2.8 to f/4.0 very quickly. The sharpness is good without being exceptional, which you only notice in photos, not videos. Great contrast anyway. It is the only lens with which, in particular situations, I felt to hazard a change of focal length during video shooting: the dial is fluid, the focus distance does not change. I honestly can't feel the "Leica" character, it just seems like a good lens to me. Ultimately it is excellent for travel and video, good for everything else, phenomenal for the satisfaction it gives to the touch. |
sent on July 18, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, construction, weight Cons: No one in my opinion Opinion: I have this wonderful lens for about a week. I was pleasantly amazed by its extreme sharpness at the focal lengths between 2.8 and 16 (besides it suffers much diffraction). Very fast and precise Autofocus (combined with G9), impeccable construction and very low weight and dimensions (I also have the Big Brother Zuiko 12-60 for 4/3). The only flaw, perhaps, is the price of the lens if found out of the kit. In fact, the new lens costs about 1000 euros, if found by Kit is located at about 700 and then the "game is worth the candle". |
sent on March 06, 2018 Pros: Great unit versatility with an excellent quality yield; good price if in kit; stabilization; efficient autofocus. Cons: The brightness fades very quickly, increasing the focal length Opinion: Taken in kit with gh5 I was surprised by the high optical quality, really good at all focal lengths, even at the edges. Reaches the top of the sharpness on the middle diaphragms. Sufficiently light it is very balanced on the gh5. Exceptional, precise and fast autofocus. Unexceptionable stabilization that is added to that of the machine, making video shooting much easier. Color and transparency of the laudable shadows, as per Leica tradition. |
sent on October 04, 2017 Pros: A rugged, high-end, all-purpose helmet with a very good definition and great three-dimensionality typically Leica. Excellent stabilization in combination with the GH5 Cons: As already noted by others before me: too high price if not in kit. Try it out of remnant kit! Opinion: The definition is very, very good, even if not in the top (to explain: that of "brother" 8-18 is just a thread, but a meaningful, taller and really top thread). On the other hand, the yield of the macrocontrasto, or the typical "three-dimensionality", the separation of the Leica floors is all combined with the usual Leica color rendering. The stabilization, verified in conjunction with that of the GH5 body machine, is really very , very effective.rnAnd a 24-120 rugged and high quality handyman, very suitable for holidays and the like (holidays and situations where, especially video, there is always no way to bring the tripod. 'excellent stabilization to offer surprisingly stable footage) .rn |
sent on September 22, 2017 Pros: metal construction, dimensions, dual stability 2 with gh5, tropicalization, sharpness Cons: honest price in kit, out of price if purchased separately Opinion: From the day of purchase I liked the touch. Solid construction and very good materials compared to other lenses. To be a 24-120 equivalent is small and well balanced on GH5. I agree with friends who write that it is an F / 2.8 virtually only to wide angle focuses (some say only 12mm, actually not much more). For those who make videos, however, unless you need light, is a negligible defect. In fact another good thing is the stabilization that works fine with dual is 2 .. if you have some hand you can get great free-hand results. As for the colors that the lens offers, I'm not saying that everything can be post-production or that depends largely on what software is used for raw management. |
sent on September 22, 2017 Pros: construction, feeling of solidity, colors, stabilization, tropicalization, possibility of mounting circular screw filters Cons: f2.8 only at 12mm Opinion: Optic that transmits solidity in everything; beautiful to see and to have in hand; very cured; only if only f2.8 is only 12mm then they mannore that the focal length increases the aperture closes but keeping in mind the fabulous dualIS2 it suits the hunger of brightness with much slower times than other cameras where this stabilization is absent; I compared it with the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 first version and I have to say that at equal conditions and therefore also diaphragm (panalei was at f.3.5 or f4 obviously the 12-35 was with diaphragm at the same aperture ) 12-60 photos were slightly brighter especially in shadow areas; these were in fact much more "legible" in 12-60; colors much more faithful than 12-60 than with 12-35 (always in JPEG as RAW can work in post) in short, it seemed to me that Leica imprint is also visible to cameramen like myself and therefore not professionals; Stabilization works well with both the small gx80 and theGH5, not to mention videos that with the electronic stabilizer seem to be turned on a tripod. Drawing sums vote 9.5 |
sent on August 31, 2017 Pros: Solid construction, TA clarity, focal range, limited weight, very gentle blur. Cons: Stabilizer coupled with the g80 that I expected most efficient Opinion: It's the first zoom I bought for the g80 and the first absolute zoom for the m4 / 3.rnSolo system remained pleasantly impressed with its quality and since I've taken it has almost always been attached to the machine. With the 5dII + 24-105L combo I had before but less weight, less clutter, and a handful of mm the longer on the long side that never fails. 60nm f4 has a great bokeh and the minimum focusing distance allows Some interesting detail.rn The only minus is the stabilization combined with the g80 that allows you to shoot securely no more than 1/15 sec. And sincerely I was hoping for better |
sent on May 29, 2017 Pros: Sharpness even at full opening, flare resistance, weight, impeccable construction. Cons: I do not like the hood lock system. Opinion: I've always had a 24-70 zoom, but with the transition to m4 / 3 I preferred versatility to brightness. The Leica imprint is there and even with the noon sun the colors have never faded. I use it almost always open without loss of quality. Coupled with my gx80 guarantees a good stabilization and I think it will accompany me for many years yet. |
