sent on December 06, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, blurry, lightness, compactness, general build quality, unattainable focal length for the same weight and size Cons: Slightly hard zoom ring and slightly slow AF depending on ambient light Opinion: Lens in my opinion fabulous that for those who can afford it and love zooms should not be missing in a micro kit four thirds! Beautiful blurred that allows you to make stolen portraits sharp and pleasant, AF in good light conditions excellent with little light a little less but still good, good AF customization keys, excellent hood, very light compact and robust unreachable from any other lens for compactness and weight, used with Panasonic G9 is perfect! |
sent on June 29, 2020 Pros: High sharpness up to about 300mm, build quality and compactness in relation to the focal range. Cons: The size, not in absolute but in relation to the size of the m4/3 cameras! But you know when you buy it.... Opinion: Although not making great use of focals so long I wanted to complete my kit with a quality super canvas and I have to say that this lens does not disappoint, indeed! Even at 400mm the yield is very good, for the top, in my opinion it is better to stop at 300mm though. Very pleasant blurry, which is not taken for granted in such an extreme zoom. The build quality is excellent and the weight, despite being felt, is contained, especially in relation to the covered focal points. I use it on a G9 and it's very manageable. Very efficient stabilizer. |
sent on April 17, 2020 Pros: Sharpness, weight, stabilizer, blurred Cons: The zoom dial a little hard Opinion: I have owned it for almost a year and a half now and I feel like doing a verified review . The optical quality is great, great sharpness, loses something at 400 but recoverable by closing the diaphragm by a stop. I use it on Olympus OM D E M1 II and behaves very well , also excellent focus also to chase and stabilization. It returns fabulous bluy, very creamy and suggestive, and even the construction is great, the only thing is the a little hard zooming but it doesn't seem like a big deal. All this with an avifauna aviauna atlife that reaches one and a half kilo with a focal point of 800 mm. And that allows me to carry it quietly around my neck using it freehand. To conclude, very satisfied, a great lens with many merits and very few defects, overconsilted. |
sent on April 09, 2020 Pros: Very high quality of construction and image, tropicalization. The size and weight are contained for an optics that is equivalent to 200-800 for FF. Perfect for wildlife and wildlife photos. Great freehand use, Thanks tothe compactness and double image stabilizer, unthinkable for focal andquivalent in FF format. Cons: Perfection does not exist. Opinion: I've had this lens for almost 2 years, and I'm just excited about it. I use it with a Lumix GH-5 body and it gave me great satisfaction in photo hunting and birdwatching. The weight and the small size allow you to walk long distances in the mountains (even in winter with snow) without excessive effort. Thanks to the double body-optical stabilizer, you are not obliged to use tripods, which also facilitates the pursuit of moving subjects. The focal excursion allows you to cope with almost any situation. It is true that a brighter diaphragm would have been convenient, but at the expense of greater weight, footprint and price. |
sent on March 09, 2020 Pros: 800 mm equivalent to a fair price, excellent perceived build quality, excellent image quality; minimum focus distance that also allows close up Cons: A little dark... 6.3, autofocus every now and then struggles to hook at 400mm Opinion: I bought this 800mm equivalent zoom for my OM DE 10II, enticed precisely by the focal and affordable price. The first thing that has come to my eye is the quality of the materials, robust although light and compact. It has a very good image quality for what are the pretensions, as on the other hand all the other m43 goals (Olympus). If it had been brighter it would have been the top but I know it would not be logical to expect it at these prices. It allows me to take naturalistic freehand photos like I shot with the 70-200 Canon. Also excellent the minimum distance of focus that if I remember badly is just over the meter: it gives the possibility to do not say macro, but good close up. I'd buy it back and recommend it. |
sent on January 01, 2020 Pros: compactness in relation to useful focal points, balancing, overall quality Cons: modular lampshade and zummata block selector not instinctively fast; fine focus to learn with experience Opinion: Having a similar range of focal points, plus Leica's brand and quality is already something special; the general yield is splendid, all the more so for what it costs. Having also the Olympus 40-150 PRO 2.8 I can say that, with equal size and weight, I prefer the Panaleica for greater versatility, also because the different brightness is balanced by the anti-vibration system, also double, of the body machine G9 and goal |
sent on December 05, 2019 Pros: close-up focus, size footprints and weight. Bokeh, sharpness Cons: to want to fill the field (i.e. to want to write something about the "CONTRO") you can say that f/6.3 to 400mm is not the maximum, but two paradises you can not have! Opinion: Ggiornamento after 1 month of use: I confirm the first extraordinary impressions: on the Panasonic G9 is perfectly balanced and the bracket for the tripod decouples the optical/body system with a screw that unlives in an instant. The quality is at the highest level, returning a feeling of pleasant robustness. The size and weight are half the size of the equivalent optics on FF (of equal brightness). Excellent sharpness, excellent I would say also at the maximum focal (cala slightly but remains excellent). Being able to focus at distances of just over 1 meter with the 400mm (800mm equivalent) is very useful. The only thing that upsets me little is the zoom dial... slightly duretta (obviously with zoom selector unlocked) but not as much as you read around. Maybe using it improves (CONFERMO!). The stabilization coupled with the G9 leaves you speechless: 800mm eq to 1/60 sec with no choppy effect I consider it a result to be blown away! The micromove? Maybe there's a hair... but we're talking about 5stop! 1/250 is no longer a trace. The AF is lightning fast! What to say: wonder of optical engineering and electronics fused together to return excellent results! The sharpness at 400mm f/6.3 is not as stellar as you would expect from a PanaLeica lens --> (RETTIFIC: 400mm is extraordinary, you don't have to make the mistake of blaming the lens when the result is affected by free-handed micromove - let's talk about 800mm equivalent - or the effect of air refraction when photographing objects very far away. I did and redone various tests and at 400mm it remains amazing, if I know how to use). |
sent on December 04, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, weight, build quality Cons: Maximum brightness Opinion: Excellent lens in all respects. The optical quality is very high, with a slight loss to the maximum extent that in my case does not affect the usability. Very solid construction and very pleasant to the touch, fantastic to be able to quickly put and remove the bracket for the attachment to the tripod. In comparison to other M43 lenses is great, but if you think you have 800mm eq the size and weight are amazingly contained. Brightness does not excel, but falls into the category and price range. AF Performance (on EM-1 II) very good. A bit of a surprise even a very nice bokeh. If you do (AVI) Fauna with good light is spectacular, if you make itineraries in the woods or with low light coupled with M43 hurts a bit for the ISO. |
sent on March 19, 2018 Pros: construction, AF, image quality, dimensions, versatility, stabilization. Cons: Hard coupling with olympus bodies, not very soft zoom ring Opinion: I recently bought the zoom in question, after having for a long time thought of the Olympus 300 f4, but the versatility of the zoom and the different cost, in the end prevailed.rnUsed twice with time by wolves for outdoor soccer services and the first feeling is more than good. Very clear, the AF-C also performing on the EM-1 (not yet tested on the mark II) and I do not even find a big drop over 300mm focal length to tarnGli unique "against" are of mechanical issue. the coupling with the Oly bayonet requires more strength than with Olympus lenses and also the zoom ring needs much more force than for example at 40-150 f2.8 Oly.rnA more than positive judgment at the moment, which will surely improve as soon as I can test it in different areas with better light than gray and gloomy days. |
sent on December 27, 2017 Pros: Fast AF / AFC even on Olympus bodies, sharpness, weight, stabilization, versatility, tropicalization Cons: On the Olympus bodies the dual IS does not go, loss of sharpness over 350mm Opinion: Having the Olympus body, I was aiming for the 300mm f / 4 Pro but it was too expensive and I was afraid of the fixed lens. So I decided to spend € 800 less and take the Panaleica 100-400mm and I am highly satisfied.rnThe hand of Leica in my opinion is seen for image clarity up to 350mm. From 350mm to 400mm starts to knead the image (of course), but up to 350mm is really a beast! RnPort yourself into the bag or shoulder a 200-800mm equivalent is a pleasure. Weight and loads are record-breaking. |
sent on August 21, 2017 Pros: Sharpness, versatility, construction, weight, autofocus, stabilizer. Cons: Hood. Opinion: Having less than 1kg a 200-800mm equivalent, tropicalized and with a monstrous stabilizer has no price. I do not know if my copy is particularly performing or if I have lower claims than anyone who has reviewed the lens before me, but I did not notice any sharp drops of sharpness even at the maximum focal point. The construction is impeccable and the stabilizer allows unimaginable times even on Olympus bodies (I've been standing at 1/20 "to 400mm without micromax). Colors and blur are very good and also the autofocus module responds perfectly on em1-ii. I have preferred 300 f4 for versatility and I do not regret the choice made after a few months of use. RnPossies a hinged part in the back, which can be attached to another supplied bundle; I find a thread uncomfortable and I think it could Remedy with a different choice. It is not a daily lens and its uses are quite specialized, but if combined with 12-100 it can be covered from 24 to 800mm equivalent with a good quality and about 1.5 kg Of weight.rnrn |
sent on May 26, 2017 Pros: Image quality, design and aesthetic quality, fast and silent Maf, optimum stabilization with no noise at least on the Olympus M1MKII on which you use it Cons: Price in my opinion exaggerated, at 400 mm. Loses some quality but by closing one stop the diaphragm is recovering quite well. The unusual weight compared to the 4/3 system is otherwise a feather compared to the FF lenses. I had the tamron 150 300 weighed nearly 2 pounds more !!! Opinion: I did a number of pictures but to enjoy it enough I want to try it at some safari zoo to test it. I consider it a goal to keep in the kit but being a specialist lens (avifauna - naturalistic) is clearly not everyday. It has an exceptional blur of a powerful focal length, the equivalent of 200-800 mm that is safely carried around your neck without getting tired |
sent on March 08, 2017 Pros: Excellent blurred, considering that it is a 20-lens zoom lens. Probably the Leica experience on this parameter has counted a lot. Engine very fast and very quiet even on Olympus (the 100-300 Pana on Oly is noisy). Very effective stabilization, you can work freehand with very slow times for these focal canvases. Very robust and well finished construction. Excellent portability for an excellent use also freehand. rn Cons: The resolution at full aperture and at all focal lengths at 100-300 Pana is slightly lower. Considering the cost I expected more. At 400 mm at full aperture the yield is a bit 'soft, closing even at 7.1 see the improvement.rn Opinion: The versatility of a zoom lens that is so extensive (200-800 equivalents) is remarkable in nature photography from stalking where the subjects can present themselves at different distances. It is more useful for shooting outdoor events such as parades, historical re-enactments, sporting events, etc ... where it is not possible to freely approach the subjects to be filmed. The ability to capture portraits even from a distance without the subjects are aware of and stiffen in the pose, is a precious feature that combined with the softness of the blurred, allows you to get excellent results in this kind of images.rn |
