nikon_afs18-140Nikon AF-S 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

Pros: Versatility

Cons: Backfocus and lack of the lampshed

Opinion: Bought on import at an absolutely affordable price, he replaced the "colleague" 18-105 evicted on the ground. Good handyman who maintains excellent qualities for colors and sharpness especially in the middle. Quite satisfactory the speed and silence of the focus, although it is not a missile. Robust with metal bayonet a consistent weight. Good VR that allows still photos even below 1/15 of a second. It loses something at 140 mm, it becomes soft and you have to push something in post production. The goal, however, is an all-rounder, without artistic ambitions, very suitable for photos on the fly on trips. Suspicious of too many blurry, I discover one day a marked backfocus that I had to correct on nikon d7000 quite clearly. With this adjustment it came back sharp and clean. The presence of the lampshow that is missing would have been welcome. Good photos at all

tamron_90macroTamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro

Pros: Exceptional yield in relation to cost

Cons: Slow in focus. Noisy

Opinion: Good morning everyone. I purchased this lens at a bargain price, used, in excellent condition. Simply spectacular. For years I have been using for macros a handcrafted stuff consisting of a nikor 50 ais forty years ago with closeup rings and self-built flash. For heaven's sake, acceptable but nerve-wracking results in use. Then I finally made up my mind. The tamron has a superb yield, a monstrous definition, all too bright with its 2.8 diaphragm (although at close range, the value increases). Closed between f.16 and f.25 is a razor. Very good auto focus as a definition of edges and contours. On the other hand, we are not in the focus of moving subjects: it cannot hook if it does, nothing is enough to lose focus. In fact I also use it as a portrait lens and even in this field it does not disfigure at all (although the colors are too sharp and takes away naturalness from the complexion of the skin). Noisy but not a big deal, at least for me. In my opinion to be purchased with your eyes closed.
