sony_rx100Sony RX100

Pros: Compact, produces good images

Cons: Colors, dynamic range, not very handy

Opinion: I bought this used machine for outings where weight is everything and for multipitch climbing. It is very convenient to keep in your pocket and take out if necessary in no time. The images can be beautiful with the right light conditions, I find them difficult to work in post otherwise (especially the greens). The biggest flaw is that I often keep it on my wrist and it is regular that the rings move (probably due to contact with the ropes or the rock) and change the shooting settings without me noticing. It also happens, more rarely, that it turns on/off. The zoom is a bit limiting, an equivalent up to 200 would have been much more versatile. However, all in all it is really a useful and light car, more than perfect for the kind of photos I want to get and not to see the phone fall into the void for hundreds of meters as has already happened to several friends ...

sony_a7cSony A7C

Pros: Weight and dimensions, sensor, autofocus, battery life

Cons: No second SD slot

Opinion: Undecided between the A7 C and the A7 III I opted for this one and I do not regret it. The autofocus is excellent, it only loses a little in dark environments. Perfect weight and size (I can slip the car into the crampon pocket of the backpack and I still have room for the 70-200). The battery life is great. Possibility of silent shooting, which also extends the life of the shutter. The lack of the front ring to adjust the apertures is annoying, the viewfinder is not the best but it is a sacrifice that makes the machine a little more compact. The real flaw is the absence of the second SD slot. For some reason I thought it held up better at high ISOs. For me it is the perfect car, to always have behind you in the mountains and on trips.
