![]() | Venus Laowa 14mm f/4 Zero-D DSLR Pros: Compactness, lightness, good sharpness, quality construction, can use 67mm filters, almost no distortion, excellent control of parasitic reflections, close focus (14cm) Cons: Chromatic aberrations evident but not excessive, optimistic maximum aperture actually F.5.6 (I think it concerns only my sample, hopefully!) Opinion: Owning, in addition to a complete Fuji kit, a Nikon D700 and a Df, equipped with AIS lenses from 24mm onwards, I needed to add a super wide angle with manual maf and, by chance, I came across a reception on a foreign site of this lens. What can I say, I am very satisfied with the performance, good sharpness, almost no distortion, but then great was my surprise when I noticed that it underexposed by a dry aperture at any set value. Maybe it's a defect of my specimen (hopefully) because otherwise it would be an unbearable cunning of the manufacturer. In short, an F.5.6 sold for an F.4! So by setting +1 on the exposure correction selector everything is perfect. However, I will always use the lens on a tripod given the difficulty of keeping it in perfect level, in this way I think I can fully enjoy it because otherwise it is definitely a good/excellent lens, both optically and as a construction, all metal. sent on October 11, 2025 |
