![]() | Tamron SP 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Pros: Focal range, construction, practicality Cons: Not a monster of sharpness Opinion: It is a lens that makes the quality/price ratio its winning weapon. By now you can find it very little, especially for those who use Pentax bodies like myself. The results are fair to good if you use it in the range from f8 to f12 (after that due to diffraction it is better to leave it alone) even if at the corners at the minimum focal range a certain softness always remains. At full opening, better to leave it alone. If used in combination with DxO it can give good satisfaction. It is not too heavy and even if it is made of plastic it seems to me excellently built. For the rest, it has the characteristics of all the wide angles ... tendency to flare even heavy and various distortions, but it's okay. At this price, what to expect? sent on September 11, 2024 |
![]() | Pentax K-S2 Pros: Construction, ergonomics, file quality, compactness Cons: Exposure meter not always very accurate, lack of focus bracketing Opinion: Taken in excellent condition a year and a half ago, I must say that so far it has behaved very well. To date, the dreaded and not improbable problem of the solenoid has not occurred (from K30 up to 70 it can occur with greater incidence on the first models of the K series): let's touch iron! The construction is what Pentax has accustomed us to: robust and very well tropicalized. Ergonomics as well.. All the keys are easily accessible and the menu is logical and designed for photographers rather than for engineers or nerds who like to fiddle with hundreds of settings. The file it churns out is very beautiful and also well workable for those who like to do post push as well as jpgs in the camera (perhaps with a little too much sharpening but just lower it a little, nothing dramatic). Excellent with vintage lenses and of course also with DAs. A camera that I recommend to those who do not want to have too much weight and bulk but do not want to give up a nice reflex viewfinder and the feeling of having a camera in your hand and not a PC churning out files. The only small flaw... The matrix exposure meter is not really the latest so some readings are to be taken with a grain of salt (always check the exposure with the live view first). There is no focus bracketing, too bad. sent on September 11, 2024 |
![]() | Canon PowerShot G10 Pros: Professional construction, controls, CCD sensor, lens, compactness Cons: Yield over 200 ISO, OVF viewfinder, operating slowness Opinion: I bought this 2008 machine (!) mainly for three reasons: the CCD sensor, the portability and the robust and almost professional construction. Despite the sensor of less than an inch churns out beautiful images, balanced and with a pleasantness of colors sometimes enchanting. Forget about using it over 200 ISO anyway... the sensor is what it is and you will find yourself with a tide of grain not really pleasant (even using DXO things do not improve much, indeed you get rather unnatural results for my taste). Its optimal use is at 80 iso and in P (so much the lens is a 2.8 to 28mm equivalent and therefore the blurred is what it is.... rather non-existent). It is a very basic machine and I consider this a great value: well-arranged physical controls and few things to set. It suffers from hotpixels even with very short shutter speeds, so watch out when developing RAW (with Lightroom and Silkypix they are automatically corrected while with Exposure X7 or Rawtherapee just act on the appropriate slider). The OVF viewfinder is comfortable in emergency situations but very small and optically it is really scarce and in addition without any information ... patience, just rely on the good autofocus in flexizone. Forget about bursts and photos after sunset freehand. I paired it with a small Metz flash (the AF 24) and indoors now goes which is a wonder. Do I recommend this vintage car in 2022? If you want beautiful natural colors, you are not interested in a megarisolution (14 mega are not so few anyway especially on such a sensor), you are not interested in 10 fps and take night photos freehand ..... this in my opinion is an excellent and very cheap purchase. In addition, you can literally always carry it with you! sent on July 08, 2022 |
![]() | Olympus OM-D E-M10 II Pros: Stabilization, very comfortable functions, very well-groomed construction, size and weight, very good image quality up 1600 iso Cons: Small keys,a bit complicated menu, size (it's also a counter),suffers from 2000 iso and up Opinion: I bought this model having found an excellent opportunity in kit with the 14-42 and the 40-150 as the second body to use for light travel, as I think have done in several, without expecting much as image yield and instead I have to say that it is wonderful and not little. I say that I normally use a Sigma dp 2 four,so I think I am very "demanding" and fussy in terms of color rendering, sharpness and IQ and this is my first m4/3, a format that has always attracted me but that for one reason or another I have never even tried.... and this first approach is very very positive also in terms of IQ as well as obviously portability. I think it's one of the ideal machines for doing street: perfect stabilization, high operational speed also has useful functions as well as fun functions such as live composite and livetime. In short, using it you have a lot of fun and you always take home good shots. I'm not a fan of the post so absurd recovery of shadows or extreme "malleability" of the file can not give me less but anyway the files that churn are also discreetly workable,as long as one knows how to shoot decently. The body is small and light and obviously the keys and grip are what they are but all things have the downside. I would say that paradoxically it is a machine suitable for both novices and the opposite for the smive and navigated photo-amateur. In my opinion for the vast majority of amateurs the m4/3 is more than fine (instead of inflating with FF or apsc you spend half and you have great photos). For everything else there is the Foveon and the middle-formed :) p.s. Made me want to take a G9 or an M1 mk II ... Sigh! sent on May 26, 2020 |
![]() | Sigma DP2 Quattro Pros: Unreachable file quality for any Bayer camera (APSC or FF that is), ergonomics, build quality and optics Cons: Suitable only for certain types of photos, high ISO bad, autonomy Opinion: I have this car for a few days and I started to test it recently. What I'm going to say is that for the kind of photos that I usually do (landscaping, flowers, some portrait set) is a kind of holy grail. I would probably get the same results with a medium format (Hasselblad or Fuji or Pentax that are) but what Costs, weights and dimensions? On the Foveon sensor have been written in the network millions of words, measurements and technical data but for me what counts is the result, and the result when used in the areas for which it is conceived is amazing in terms of definition and naturalness of colors. As they have already written is suitable for a meditated and reasoned Photograph: it takes you to regain a way of doing analogue photography, where every shot is thought and desired and I find it a good one. We live in an era where we can shoot at 30 fps to have 30 usually mediocre shots to choose from and lose hours to fix that less worse than the others. Why? If you are looking for a light machine, small with a particular ergonomics but that I find comfortable and that will make you discover or rediscover the taste of "photographing" (write with the light) This is the machine for you. I suggest you buy your Galilean ovf or the visor to be applied to the LCD (expensive and cumbersome). As a last remark I can only tell you to try it if you have occasion, maybe you hate it and will not do for you but if you like what you do will soon become a drug...... I would say that it is a machine for amateurs, I do not see it in the hands of professionals (maybe only for those who do landscaping) or buff of the forced tarocloading (pp as if there was a tomorrow). Last remark: The lens is excellent and thought to be coupled to this sensor. Quality of German tradition (Leitz and Zeiss just to say a couple) really made in Japan. sent on October 18, 2018 |
![]() | Nikon D5300 Pros: Sensor, ergonomics, weight, quality of files even at high ISO, robustness, GPS integrated, wifi Cons: Few configurable buttons (one!), Menu a bit 'cumbersome, live view slow, pentaspecchio (no pentaprism), no engine af in the car Opinion: Taken second-hand (practically unused) to replace a Fuji xt-10.I wanted to regret the jpg ready to use Fuji and instead, despite the sensor a bit 'old, I had to change his mind: it's a still great car capable of producing high quality photos with a dynamic range of absolutely high level already with the 18-55 and with very little noise up to 6400 iso.Ergonomia perfect for me since it offers an excellent grip combined with a low weight and size equal to that of a mirrorless without having the defects (the usual: small body, small keys and unbalance between the camera body and mounted lenses). Even after hours that you carry around not tired. The AF is very good, fast and accurate in 99% of the cases and 39 points are more than good though obviously the sports photo is not his bread also because of the limited 5fps burst. The adjustable screen is very comfortable, robust and helps not just for the most difficult shots while the viewfinder, despite not is a pentaprism (unfortunately% 29 is not too dark and I definitely prefer it to an evf (at least to that of Fuji that in itself was not bad at all). With this 5300 frankly I do not see the advantage of using a mirrorless if not to play with vintage lenses, which I did and I find it fun but that leaves a little 'time that finds. I do not think I'll get tired so soon because for my needs as a simple enthusiast it offers everything you need and even more with very high level performances. if I had to change it I would orient myself on a seire 7xxxx only for the pentaprism and the af in the car to be able to use any Nikon lens: for the perfect rest! sent on February 19, 2018 |
![]() | Canon EOS M10 Pros: Pretty compact, good quality sensor, kit optics provides good performance, ease of use, great photos without too much effort Cons: Autofocus a bit slow and not always impeccable, slow blur, lack of hotshoe, no option to mount an optional electronic viewfinder Opinion: Bought to replace a Nikon J1 (a really portable car but with a 1 inch inches mediocre) I often carry with me during my walks and I have to say that it can offer really good, sometimes striking shots in relation to its price range . The sensor is the same as the 1300d but also the kit optics that is not bad. Unfortunately, like all mirrorless suffer from the lack of the viewfinder, since in this case you can not mount an optional electronic (there is the M6 for this if I'm not mistaken but it costs really much, in my opinion, in relation to the performance it can offer.) Very fun to use with old optics and adapter rings: I have a Helios with which I realized that particular momentum and I think I will attach another just right for fun (the M10 has a manual focus that works really well). In conclusion if you are looking for a mirrorless without too much pretense but with the Canon quality able to offer you good photos in 90% of the situations I will strongly suggest! sent on October 02, 2017 |
![]() | Samsung WB750 Pros: Ease of use, compact size, good construction, rather customizable, excellent zoom range Cons: Raw anything, jpg not very defined, lcd rather small and not very defined, no wifi Opinion: Purchased on offer a few years ago as a compact all-rounder always bring giro.Le performance discrete despite the small sensor (which, however, and 'backlit) and as for all compact like you get enough good photos in low light conditions the ottimale.Oltre iSO 400 noise becomes quite evident that, when added to optics not excellent, is patently void yield with little luce.Ha a good number of settable functions (mode dial PASM modes) and has always proven reliable strapazzandola also a bit ' .For the price paid, definitely lower than a Sony or similar Nikon, i would say that is a good machine to use every day thanks to the powerful zoom sent on May 04, 2016 |
