![]() | Meike AF 85mm f/1.4 Pros: Blurred, sharp even at the edges, no aberrations, incredibly accurate and fast Cons: Quite chilling lens hood, very noisy af motor and aperture ring Opinion: A little hesitant, on advice, I took this instead of the Siriu or the Panasonic 85mm 1.8. The blur is nice, very pleasant. The aperture ring is smooth, but it's easy to find yourself at f16 instead of A. This thing doesn't drive me crazy, also because the aperture closes suddenly and doesn't give me the idea that it's good for the blades. It doesn't even drive me crazy that if you go back from f16 to A, you take it to f4 and don't keep the last setting set in the car in memory. Noisy autofocus, but unexpectedly and incredibly fast and accurate. The sharpness is really top over the entire frame, already at ta. Aberrations are absent, while vignerration and distortion are quite contained. It is true that it is made of plastic, but the sensation to the touch is not of a low quality product but rather it is very robust. The same cannot be said of the lens hood which seems to be made of paper. I have an idea that the coupling system will break quickly. Even the bayonet mount (L mount in my case) is not very smooth and you have to apply a bit of pressure, even if compared to the very first times it seems to me to be a little less hard. I would not recommend it to those who need little noise and do not give me security (but only by feeling) the assistance service. For the rest, sharpness and autofocus are the strong point and not only in relation to the low price, but just in general. sent on May 27, 2025 |
![]() | Samyang AF 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Pros: Sharpness on all focal lengths, versatility, brightness and bokeh, AF speed and natural skin tones Cons: Just so as not to leave the space empty, the cap doesn't always hook well and it gave me a bit of a nuisance Opinion: Socket for L-Mount I just did an event with this lens (updated to the latest release of fw 3.4). Given some reviews I was a little worried about the choice made, but I immediately changed my mind. The lens didn't miss a beat. Sharp at all focal lengths, both in the center and at the edges (where obviously it yields a little, but nothing considerable). I still have no idea how it can behave in sporting events, but I will try it in basketball, in the meantime I have tested it on my daughters running and on the swing and it has always followed the subjects precisely. I particularly appreciated the complexion and the detail returned, even the bokeh is very interesting. Combination the videomaker I met had the same lens for more than a year and he was enthusiastic about it too. Neither of the two specimens has particular flexing problems (mine flexes a little, but I have to hold it completely upside down and shake it). As for the weight, it is certainly important, but the only lighter alternative is the sigma 28-105 f2.8, the other competing lenses even of other brands are larger and weigh. I'm glad I made this choice sent on April 10, 2025 |
![]() | Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Pros: Excursion from handyman, blurry, sharpness, speed and precision to maf Cons: Brightness suffers dark colors and backlights Opinion: It's a great handicap goal: landscapes, portraits and wildlife / wildlife with great results. Excellent performance at any focal point, even the most pushy. Stabilizer not last generation, but well-functioning. It has a wonderful blur, so that sometimes it seems to me an optic thought more for the portrait than for naturalistic. It weighs 2 kg, heavy for a handyman, but in line with the other supertels, so I do not consider it a defect. It gives excellent details in birdlife and wildlife photographs even at big highs (I came to 6400 iso with 7dII without great affliction) even though the results are not always uniform. In fact it suffers the dark colors and subjects. I happened to be impressed by the detail pulled out on a busy jewel less than a ninth of the frame, as I was disappointed in photographing a male bark at a short distance. Even the backlights (of course) are not really his strong. But overall it is an exceptional lens, a couple of times I wondered if it was the case to switch to something else but I'm notI feel like leaving her and I think she'll be in good shape with me again sent on October 04, 2017 |
