![]() | Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM II Pros: Quality and reliability Cons: Weight & Cost Opinion: After many years of using the sharp Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 I switched to this high-end Canon lens with a different focal range. The first impressions after a week of use are: Weight: its 700g are felt but so much weight should also guarantee a lot of sturdiness and reliable materials Sharpness: here I am finding some doubts, the previous Tamron was a blade and also having a larger aperture the MAF was always perfect. The Canon for now seems to give softer images that require, in some cases, a more pushed PP work precisely on sharpness. It's not a final judgement but for now I still have some doubts, I had also suspected a back focus problem but I don't think I'll fall back into this problem. Portraits: at 100mm and around this lens proves to be suitable for portraits, the bokeh is pleasant and "modern" Landscape: undoubtedly on an APS-C it is not a wide angle so it is not the best lens for "postcard" photos. For travel photos for me it is a great all-rounder that allows close-up shots while remaining at a distance as in fact this lens is a medium telephoto lens. Conclusions: overall it is an excellent lens, its cost places it in the very high range of optics but hopefully it will last over time. sent on June 26, 2024 |
![]() | Canon 77D Pros: Handy, high performance AF, great picture resolution, great LCD visibility Cons: For now I have not caught anyone Opinion: Bought a few days from a 400D elder I enjoyed the "sound" of the shot from the start. I took photos at Villa d'Este at Tivoli in full daylight and in optimal light conditions (clear sky) I enjoyed the excellent results of focusing and exposure measurement.
