canon_powershot_v1Canon PowerShot V1

Pros: Unique optics for a "compact", excellent sensor

Cons: No viewfinder, flash shoe that includes adapter

Opinion: Certainly it was designed for video use rather than photos, from this point of view it has several pluses. But even on the photo side it behaves very well. It has an optic that starts from 16mm equivalent up to 50mm. Fairly bright (F2.8-4.5). An m4/3 type sensor, in fact, can be compared in terms of yield and file size to those of the well-known system. Indeed, I will tell you that it appears slightly less noisy, I had the om1 MK ii and I can say that the canon, also thanks to the fact that it has native 100 iso, returns a "cleaner" raw. Sharp, stabilized optics, easily correctable distortion, very useful for interior and landscape photos. In addition, it can be cropped up to a 70mm equivalent using a 1" sensor area, such as those of the Sony rx 10-100 series sensors. Too bad the absence of a viewfinder, useful when shooting outdoors. As well as the flash shoe which presupposes, in order to use "classic" Canon flashes, a special adapter (as also required for the R50). Good battery life. In short, a compact car that is not very small but that can be of great satisfaction when traveling, especially if you take both photos and videos. I won't hide from you that if these prerogatives were now included in a body also equipped with a viewfinder, this camera would also delight many photographers nostalgic for the dear, old, good compacts of the past :-)

Pros: file quality, video compartment, excellent af, stabilizer, battery life

Cons: Lack of flash (not terrible but sometimes you wish it had it), display small 3" but 16/9, small viewfinder, 24 mp when now competition has exceeded this size. it would have been nice to have high resolution shot as on A7RIV.

Opinion: In the pros and cons I think I summed up my thoughts on this machine. it's certainly not the best in its category but it's among those. my dream is to have an HDR in Raw, as well as the night shot without tripod, the high resolution free hand as olympus... but you will get there. In essence it is a great machine, improved the Jpeg for those who do not want to postproduce. Maybe video lovers might dispute a bit of rolling shutter, but it has video settings for editing more than satisfying. And record battery life category! Anyone who buys it maybe at a price close to 1000-1100 euros is satisfied.
