pentax_k1_iiPentax K-1 Mark II

Pros: Robustness, dynamic range, pixel shift. Spectacular built-in astrotracer and GPS, double SD slots, customizable dinghies and buttons, K-attack, ergonomics, battery life, sensor stabilizer, high ISO management and more

Cons: For my use no one

Opinion: Spectacular machine. Built-in Astrotracerand and GPS bring home spectacular photos. Just place the car on the tripod, turn on the GPS and she starts to "follow" the stars avoiding the crawls. Exposures of several minutes do not have to worry if you use wide-angle lenses. The pixel shift proves to be a positive surprise every time. 4 shots joined directly into the machine which provides the user with a single RAW file. Perfect ergonomics and stabilized sensor allow you to shoot for many hours even freehand without the risk of micromove. Spectacular dynamic range. The AF is not lightning fast but in 99.9% of cases it is enough and advances, at least in my case. Excellent management of high ISOs in all situations. Rating 10

pentax_k50Pentax K-50

Pros: Excellent ergonomics, effective tropicalization, good quality materials, double ring, quality pentaprism, ISO management up to 6400, battery life

Cons: Some models suffer from a magnet problem. Nothing impossible to fix

Opinion: A great machine that I continue to use with great satisfaction. He accompanied me (and will continue to do so for some time) in many situations really on the edge for a reflex (for example during the high water, which I remember is salty, in Venice while it dilutes). The perceived and real quality is high. It doesn't even look like an entry-level machine. The materials are very good and carefully assembled. The battery life is very good. Excellent double dial that allows you to have on one finger the times and on the other the diaphragms (often using the TAv mode I find it very comfortable). Up to 800 ISO files are extremely manageable. Over 800 and up to 6400 with a little accuracy you can get good quality files for prints of discrete size (printing 30x45 to 3200 ISO is not too much of a problem, indeed). the cons are basically zero or almost zero. Some models (few from what I know) have suffered from a problem the magnets that leads to take dark photos. On ebay the magnets are located at about 10 degrees and are in a fairly accessible position to replace them.

pentax_kpPentax KP

Pros: Build Quality, RAW file quality, AF, very customizable

Cons: Battery in some cases

Opinion: I Have the KP for a few months but I'm using it almost every day. Once you have made the habit of all the commands that it makes available (one wheel per ISO, one for diaphragms and one for the times for example) is practically perfect. Outstanding RAW Quality. The shadows are recovered very easily and the noise is practically never excessive. It becomes more than 12 thousand ISO (difficult to ask for better at the moment). The pixel shift function returns files from over 100 MB (huge chance of being machined). Only downside the battery. The duration is not great. It Allows you to arrive quietly until the evening in normal conditions, but if you have some extraordinary session it is advisable to get a spare battery (or to equip the KP of battery grip).

pentax_kxPentax K-x

Pros: Ease of use, build quality for an entry level room, 9-point AF, light weight of the machine body

Cons: AF not visible in viewfinder

Opinion: My first reflex. Very workable RAW files (provided you stay within 1600 ISO). In my model with the AA batteries, the room almost immediately gave low battery (though then actually you could do 300 shots). I solved by buying Ethinesan high capacity 3000 MWh lithium (problem disappeared definitively). Used in various conditions and never had any problem. Too bad for the absence of the AF points visible in the viewfinder. My slightly tends to underexpose. Solved by compensating with a + 1/3.
