olympus_14-54_v2Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II

Pros: It still performs very well on the recent OM-1

Cons: Not as immediate in the MAF as a micro 12-100 pro but still excellent in most cases.

Opinion: I was suddenly curious to try it on the OM-1, after I had rummaged through the drawers looking for something else and seeing it there. The impression was of a good feeling with it, both for the feeling of solidity and excellent construction, very fluid in movements without play and well manageable with the still rubberized rings. The colors are beautiful, as well as the sharpness on a sensor for which it was not designed, giving me the feeling of something more natural than the 'sharp' images (sometimes too much) provided by modern optics, especially for these in the blurred a bit too invasive. Finally I had the whim to subject it to a "front-back focus" test at f/2.8 to accentuate the difficulties with one of those optical sights inclined by 45 degrees and I must say that even on the modern camera it did not do anything wrong. In conclusion, I think I still use it a lot, even if it is true that at the bottom the angle of view is felt compared to the 12-100. For the rest, being able to exploit it on certain occasions both with the digital multiplier (it's a shame I don't have the 2x of the previous reflex cameras even if I don't know how it would have behaved) but above all the HI-RES, I think it still allows you to do many things.

olympus_omd_em1_iiOlympus OM-D E-M1 II

Pros: Speed and reactivity Autoficus. Very manageable noise up to ISO 3200 (I have them default as Max Range) with filter off, obviously shooting in RAW. Coming from the E-M1 (November 2013) sturdiness and manageability.

Cons: I should say no, although compared to the first version more than the pixel increase I would have preferred a viewfinder a little more resolute, say on the 3.36 K instead of still the current 2.36, even if this to take great photos enough already.

Opinion: But if there are even people who even landed by the FF systems recognizes a vast amount of merits, not least the very low noise and speed AF. It makes me strange that there is always someone who despise, because either he does it on purpose or photography should be his last beach. If it were for the first case would prevail the bad faith, while for the second there are disposable cameras, not even smartphones, as these also require a... "Minimum" of cognition.

olympus_m75-300_v2Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II

Pros: Well built, although not tropicalized (with a strong impression), lightweight and handy - Excellent sharpness even at full opening, which is reduced by a little over 250 mm, but just shut down some stops and things get better.

Cons: For the price it costs I would say no one. The Olympus slim lens, which is indispensable with these focal points, is almost as usual on the economic lenses, but the purchase of the original in after market is also about half the price, so nothing serious. Last but not least because of its lightness and compactness, on lightweight bodies such as the PEN and E-M10, at long focal lengths and freehand, it is more susceptible to microchips than to E-M1.rnrn

Opinion: Certainly not very luminous for the lovers of these openings, but considering the focal length of 600mm equivalent, we are also compared to a 35mm focal point with extender. Of course, someone accustomed to the big openings will have the right to complain, but with this focus, which of them cost only 0.5k euros? It is certainly not the objective to be used in certain light conditions, but even in these, for fairly static animals and the tripod, it goes out anyway dignitously, because where there are AF problems there is always the convenience of "focus peacking "Fast and precise to draw. In conclusion, it is a goal more than honest and can give great satisfaction that I feel to advise many, especially those who do not care about the frills, but the concrete things and ... especially the wallet.
