nikon_85_f1-8dNikon AF 85mm f/1.8 D

Pros: Color fidelity, AF response, sharpness, blurred, open shadows, no distortions, practicality of use, speed of use, compactness, metallic lampshade.

Cons: Slightly noisy focus.

Opinion: It is the lens that, mounted on the D700, gave me the greatest satisfaction. Well balanced on the D700 offers safety in use and safety of results. It is valid not only in portraiture but also in theatre photography and landscape photos. The contrast is never excessive. This lens insulates the subject from the background in the best way possible. Very well readable faces in group photos (when I have enough space I always prefer, in group photos, to use this lens rather than the 50 mm or 35 mm). The focus is quick and precise. Another feature that makes it irreplaceable in night photographs of celestial bodies such as when you need to use manual focus is the fact that you are sure that at the end of the run the fire is set to infinity, without any doubt.

nikon_180_f2-8dNikon AF 180mm f/2.8 D ED IF

Pros: I really appreciate the blurring, the detachment of the planes, the rendering of colors, the sharpness, the compactness, the lightness.

Cons: In hands-free use, rapid exposure times should be set to ensure sharpness of the image.

Opinion: Preferring fixed optics I have always wanted this lens. Great blurring, moving out of planes, color rendering and sharpness. Paired with the D700 it is well balanced and certainly lighter than the 70-200 zoom. I have owned it for a few days and the first shots leave me really satisfied. It has a distinctive stamp of its own that I like. I use the focal 50mm and 85mm and quite the 35mm focal. This 180mm and bright focal lens now manages to complete my needs (portrait and landscapes). I also recommend this to owners of FF Nikon cameras in view of the availability on the market of used models in excellent condition at affordable prices.
