canon_rf35_macroCanon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM

Pros: Light, bright, defined, stabilized

Cons: Evident vignetting at TA, supplied without bag and without hood (very expensive optional), is not a real macro, STM engine, not tropicalized.

Opinion: Lens purchased to evaluate on the R6 the practicality of the new ring that at the end of the day did not make me say ... wow. Lens provided so naked and raw with only the box! The STM focus motor is a bit noisy and maybe even a bit rough (slow) compared to nano-USMs. It produces an obvious vignetting that falls with apertures from f4 onwards, the definition is good on the whole frame, excellent at f5.6. I did not notice chromatic aberration, bokeh not particularly exhilarating but pleasant. It is not a real macro but has a minimum focus at 17cm with a 1:2 magnification ratio. The construction is taken care of but the barrel is made of plastic of not excellent quality with metal attachment, it is not tropicalized. Recommended lens to access the new RF system with a lens dedicated to it, not EF with additional.

canon_rf24-70_f2-8Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM

Pros: Stabilized, L series, tropicalized, perfect AF with Nano-USM, sharpness over the entire focal range

Cons: Vignetting at 24mm and maybe the price.

Opinion: I come from the excellent brother EF second series, so accustomed well regarding image quality, color return and build quality. I used the EF with satisfaction on the R6 for several months with the adapter, until I got to try the corresponding RF. It was love at first sight: exceptional. Everything I have always appreciated about the EF in rf I found improved, even the materials used are more pleasant to the touch. The zoom ring is very smooth and precise, the color rendering warm (as I like it), the definition sharp up to the edges even at f2.8. Stabilization is a very welcome added value that, coupled with the R6, provides unexpected performance. There are two small discords notes: the vignetting evident at 24mm as well as the presence of barrel distortion. These imperfections can fortunately be recovered in the room with the appropriate settings for the lens, or in PP. It is advisable to check the Canon website for updated firmware, yes because rf lenses are equipped with updatable clip sets. The cost is still very high, if you find an opportunity do not miss it.

canon_rf15-35_f2-8Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM

Pros: Sharpness, stabilization, build quality

Cons: Hood not always effective

Opinion: Canon in this perspective has included all the know-how related to the three editions of the EF 16-35/2.8 and the result can be seen! The RF 15-35/2.8 is a practically perfect lens if it were not for the excessive vignetting, however easily corrected in the car or recoverable in PP. I keep it practically always hooked to the R6 with which it achieves an excellent combination. It is an L series and as soon as it is put to work it does not betray expectations. The hood is not so effective with strongly side lights, sometimes you notice unwanted reflections and/or ghost images. Unfortunately, the price is still very high.

canon_eos_r6Canon EOS R6

Pros: Lightness, quietness (I come from 1DX), low noise, ergonomics, double slots, excellent file workability, 20MP, articulated display, aesthetics, on-board stabilization.

Cons: Annoyingly shaky viewfinder during horizontal movements, very articulated menu: many (too many) options.

Opinion: Purchased about 2 months ago, it was not love at first sight but, shot after shot, it was able to conquer me. I photograph especially concerts in the theater and the beloved 1DX, although excellent, was too noisy ... hence the choice to switch to mirrorless. I chose the R6, over the R5, for essentially four reasons: 1. the price, 2. I use AF at -6.5EV, 3. optimal operating flow with 20.1MP, 4. the 8K is not of interest to me. Along with it I also took the EF-RF adapter to use the substantial optical kit already in my possession. With the adapter the EF lenses, all L series, behaved indistinguishably from using with the previous 1DX. I immediately appreciated the focus function with face-eye tracking: it doesn't miss a beat, not even at 20fps. Given the operating conditions (theater) often use very high ISO 12800, the R6 returns RAW files easily workable with PhotoShop. The colors are very faithful and the images possess an exceptional three-dimensionality. As mentioned, the viewfinder is not yet up to the optical one but, with a little use, you get used to it. Machine certainly recommended but you must carefully read the over 900 pages of the manual to set it in relation to your needs.

manfrotto_mt055cxpro3Manfrotto MT 055 CX PRO3

Pros: Lightweight, rugged, equips max

Cons: Expensive, basic equipment nonexistent compared with a Benro with feet with steel toe and carrying bag.

Opinion: Great tripod with a host of accessories. Only fault the lock levers of the sections of the legs that challenged not properly tend to pinch (painfully) the terminal part of the index. Excellent for use with head rocker co canvas or heavy ground-based telescopes for naturalistic observation. Really useful the possibility of orizzontalizzare the column for macro shooting down.

canon_7d_mark2Canon 7D Mark II

Pros: Burst from 10f / s, FullHD video at 60 f / s, feeling of strength and solidity general, 65 point AF, dual slot for SD memory cards and CF, snap to 3.5 f / s silent, flexibility of AF, 3 settings personalized immediately available

Cons: Menu very articulate, manual over 500 p., Another additional manual AF, pentaprism very protruding flange coupling optics which does not allow a quick change lens can not see the red dot with a portable reference.

Opinion: The 7d mk II is a reflex for photographers improvised but is a camera body to which we will arrive after a course and evaluation of the actual requests to the machine. If used with knowledge of the facts is very satisfying but if you expect me to do everything she falls into a big mistake: should be set, led to the result, it addressed to what we want to achieve. You can not take it and shoot you will be disappointed and you'll think you have thrown your money. The machine has to be experienced, proven, experienced only so give the maximum of itself and gratify its owner.
