![]() | Venus Laowa 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Pros: sharpness, compactness, lightness, build quality. immense angle of field. Total absence of deformation Cons: Poor resistance to flare Opinion: Let me just say that this is not an "easy" goal. First, for its lack of resistance to flare (eh.. only true mole of this lens). Second, because being an ultra wide-angle so pushed (the most pushed ever!), requires good attention to the composition, not to fall into the "discounted" (e.g. lack of a clear subject). That said, in my opinion it is a really remarkable lens: compared to the "cousin", it keeps the impressive sharpness in the center, and improves the one at the corners (where the 15mm tends to be too soft). Quite constant on all focal lengths, it does not even present an exaggerated vignette, considering the focal point. Laowa has kept its promises, and even here no deformation due to the wide angle (the lines remain terribly straight!). I did not get to try the native filter (the internal one), and unfortunately on a 100mm system the vignette is strong (but at least it is compatible with Haida holder). sent on September 03, 2019 |
![]() | Venus Laowa 15mm f/2 Zero-D Pros: Very bright, possibility to use plate filters without special fittings, solid and robust, virtually no distortion Cons: Coma visible up to af: 4 Opinion: This lens is breathtaking, luminous and practically free of distortion. The fact that it is specifically designed for attack E makes it compact. You can use 100x100 sheet filters, or regular screw filters, as the hood can be removed. For night photography is a great lens, it has a coma slightly higher than the other "typical" lenses (see samyang 14mm f: 2.8 and Samynag 14mm XP). Excellent resolution, though slightly lower than that of the Samyang XP series. Wonderful contrast. rnrnFor landscapers, architecture and night photos is a must sent on October 31, 2017 |
![]() | Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: Tropical conditions, excellent finish, right hardness of the rings, good resistance to flare Cons: Slack sharpness, distortion and chromatic aberration evident Opinion: Honestly I think it's a lens definitely overrated, just because it says above Sony Zeiss. I expected much more from a lens, the price of which is anything but low. rnCiò that most impressed me is the lack of clarity: I was able to compare it to the Nikon 16-35 (mounted on a A7r with the adapter ring) with the same focal length, and a Samyang 85mm (ok, it's a fixed focal length, but it is an optical to say the least economic!), and the results are embarrassing! It 'like comparing a lens "serious" to a plasticone kits nikon ... rnmi needed a zoom travel, and I was almost forced to choose .... this sin, you know I kept the money sent on February 02, 2015 |
![]() | Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: target native, fast in focus Cons: Chromatic aberration, sharpness is not exciting Opinion: Honestly a lens marked Zeiss expected more, especially at that price. I had it on probation for a day, and I took advantage by taking a bit ', and making comparisons with the Nikon 16-35 mounted via adapter ring. rnOnestamente I expected much more .... the 16-35 proved to be absolutely the same level as regards the distortion ... and probably also for the sharpness. Instead the nikon wins by far the comparison on aberration chromatic ... I'm sorry not to have thought of resistance assessment flaring rnOnestamente ... I wanted this to have a kit lens optical native (and therefore lighter, and with Exif data on the pictures) .... but at this point I avoid carefully, and I keep my old Nikon ring .... sent on January 20, 2015 |
