Pros: Size, price / performance ratio (especially if bought used), image quality

Cons: Lack live view, small screen, slow burst, slow AF

Opinion: I have about two years the 350D, which is also my first SLR. I bought it used, to see if the world of digital photography, which fascinated me seen from the outside, was really intriguing. I must say I was immediately surprised by the performance of the small 350D. Past the initial enthusiasm for the leap from a compact to a DSLR, I started to explore the many functions. Outwardly is a totally plastic body (not weather sealed), good robustness and ergonomics (for hands not too large). Unfortunately has a very small LCD monitor and from which it is difficult to understand if we got a picture really sharp. The connection to the PC via USB cable and the camera is automatically recognized by Windows. The picture quality is very good (even today) and there is the possibility to take in raw + jpeg, while shots at high ISO (above 800) return a little 'noise. The AF is not the fastest and the burst stops at 3fps, making it not suitable for extreme sports photography. It should be also noted that the lack of live view, but it helps to maintain performance of the battery. At present is an excellent starting point for those (like me a couple of years ago) wants to enter the world of digital SLR photography, without selling a kidney. The capabilities of the 350D I still meet in full and if you change your body (mainly for AF and live view), would pass directly to a XXD series.
