![]() | Fujifilm GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR Pros: Super sharp, lighter than it looks, well constructed, outstanding OIS! Cons: Maybe the foot on the collar could be Arca-Swiss, but this is no big deal Opinion: Overall outstanding lens! Makes my 110 and 120 nearly obsolete. The weight and balance on the GFX are fantastic. The removable tripod collar is well designed and easily removable or installable. At first I was worried that the Bokeh would not be so nice, given the lens is 5.6 maximum aperture. However, the bokeh is quite pleasing and nice, which allows the lens to be very useful for portrait work. Essentially, it is like my 50-140mm f/2.8 for my X-series cameras. It is about the size of a FF 70-200 f/2.8 so travel is also quite practical. I can cover approximately 95% of my work with just two lenses; this 100-200mm and the equally fantastic 32-64mm. sent on February 26, 2019 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-H1 Pros: Ergonomics, image quality, film simulation modes, Build quality, EVF Cons: Battery life, Q menu Opinion: Coming from the GFX and Nikon system, the layout is very intuitive. I love the manual controls and simplified menus. The build quality is excellent. I found the IBIS to work quite well and was able to get very usable images with non-OIS lenses at relatively slow shutter speeds (e.g. 1/4 sec., etc.). Most important...the images are quite impressive. If you shot Fuji films, the film simulation modes are really very nice; rendering color fidelity nearly identical to the actual emulsions. I do not shoot video so I cannot comment on that. I do not care for the 'Q' (quick) menu feature. The activation button is on the ergonomic thumb rest and I frequently bump this. The 'Q' menu can be deactivated on the GFX, but not the XH-1. Perhaps this will be addressed in a future firmware update. Interestingly, the 'Q' menu activation button was moved adjacent to the shutter release on the vertical grip. This is a much better placement IMO. The EVF is just stellar! Overall, I have been very impressed with Fuji and after 30+ years of shooting Nikon switched completely to Fuji. Complaints about weight, size, etc. are all subjective and vary by user. The XH-1 fits my needs and I am pleased with it and the available optics. sent on March 11, 2018 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR Pros: Range, sharpness Cons: None - I understood what it was and accepted the trade offs! Opinion: Great travel lens. When I want to travel really light, I can take a FF with this lens and one other (wider), and that's it. It produces good results for most things and for most shooting situations. Obviously, it is not a prime, nor a pro-grade zoom. However, it is really a nice tool to have available for certain situations. Mine is sharp and the VR works very well. I never hesitate to use this lens, and it is actually pretty rugged. sent on April 19, 2015 |
