nikon_z14-24_f2-8Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S

Pros: Weight, bulk, optical quality, filterability, data display at night.

Cons: Price, just wanting to look for the defect

Opinion: Purchased in place of the glorious old 14-24F and replacing the 14-30 that did not really convince me, despite having stayed with me for a couple of years. I would say that it is basically perfect, optically without defects, incredibly low weight considering the optics, not small dimensions but definitely inferior to the predecessor. Having an endowment of 100mm plates I bought the NiSi holder, which works perfectly. Nikon has definitely pulled the rabbit out of the cylinder.

nikon_z14-30_f4sNikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S

Pros: Weight, footprint, the ability to use 14mm slab filters without vignette, excellent central sharpness.

Cons: High distortion, resolved via firmware by the machine with some damage to the corners. Collapseable structure. Price.

Opinion: I bought this optics with many expectations. The set of its characteristics makes it a unique object. The overall yield if diaphragm is very good even if the distortion to the wide focals is huge, visible with sw that do not apply automatic corrections. It is corrected by the machine or sw with some damage to the corners that lose enough sharpness. However, I continue to consider it a must have for the landscaper, perfect for travel, usable with 100mm slabs at all focal points. A mole as for all ML optics is the focus by wire system that creates big manual focus problems if you try to focus in infinity.

nikon_z6Nikon Z6

Pros: Sight, compactness, high ISO hold

Cons: Battery life, monitor not fully articulate

Opinion: I've owned this car for 2 months. After an inevitable run-in problem I have to say that I am very happy, it replaces my now sold D800, with top dynamic performance. I chose the 6 for price issue and for the estate to ISO highs. For now the only small downside is that the monitor can articulate but it is only convenient for horizontal photos, vertically it becomes useless. The battery did not have the duration it had on the reflex but I would keep the backwardcompatibility allows me to use the two I had. The optical park, for now, is lacking, although you can use everything that Nikon has produced so far without leaking.
