![]() | Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25mm f/4 Pro Pros: Image quality, wide focal range, build quality. Cons: A bit bulky and heavy, but it allows you to travel with one less lens Opinion: An all-rounder lens that ranges from a wide angle to a normal focal length. Perfect for traveling, it's addictive. Remarkable optical quality, does not suffer from flare and has almost zero chromatic aberrations. Excellent build quality like almost all M.Zuiko "PROs". For a micro4/3 system it is a bit heavy and bulky, but it allows you to leave at least one lens at home. Price a bit high but justified in my opinion. sent on June 06, 2024 |
![]() | Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4-5.6 R Pros: Very light, good sharpness, cheap, holds well flare and ghost Cons: All plastic, missing the lampshade Opinion: I was amazed, I admit. It has a pleasantly unexpected yield. To hold it in its hand it looks (and is) a plastic object from which to claim little. It actually returns very sharp shots at any opening, even at 150mm it is still well defined. It holds up the backlights very well and does not suffer from flare or ghost. It is very light and very compact, so it never misses from the backpack or bag. The only defect, but very marginal, is given by a slight chromatic aberration at the edges in case of strong contrasts. Unfortunately, there is no lampshade that costs as a percentage at the price of the lens a disproportionate! I still have some doubts about the durability, being also the plastic bayonet, but at the cost of less than 150 euros for a new one, surely in case it breaks I will buy another one! sent on October 23, 2019 |
![]() | Irix 11mm f/4.0 Pros: Breadth of field, excellent sharpness in the center, price, low distortion, easily correctable chromatic aberrations Cons: Sharpness at the edges poor and pitiful at the extremes, heavy, locking ring MAF too plasticose Opinion: I just took this lens and the first impressions are very good, especially with regard to the definition in the center. At the extremes loses much of incisiveness. The chromatic aberrations, especially at the edges, are present, but with Lightroom I noticed that they are corrected automatically without any particular problems. No problem even with regard to distortions, which are decidedly reduced for the type of lens and easily correctable in pp. In this regard, you can download the lens profile for Lightroom/camera raw directly from the official website. At the price at which it is offered (I have the "poor" Firefly version) I would say it is a good lens, which offers possibilities that very few other lenses offer and at considerably higher prices. In the end the real flaw is given by the weight and footprint. sent on May 31, 2018 |
![]() | Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM Pros: Sharpness in all lengths, build quality and very high mechanical, fast and accurate autofocus, excellent quality of blurred. Cons: Much heavier than the "normal" 70 to 300, but the quality is of an entirely different category. It lacks series ring for tripod. Price a bit 'high, but worth every penny of its price. Opinion: Taken to replace at once the 70-200 f / 4 and is a Tamron SP 70-300. The decision has paid off in full shopping! Crystal clear, with a phenomenal optical quality, does not regret the 70-200 and never get to 300 while maintaining a really good definition. The quality of the blurred left me very pleasantly surprised. It seems to me better than the 70-200! Even the stabilizer performs well, I do not know whether even better than the "mythical" stabilizer Tamron. The autofocus is also very fast and accurate. Missing serial adapter ring for the tripod, but overall it is not a serious flaw. And 'quite heavy, but the construction is all metal, solid. A 70mm is still a lot more compact and also the Tamron 70-200 70-300. E 'expensive, but after seeing how he works are certainly worth its price down to the last penny. sent on June 24, 2015 |
