Nikon Z8 Pros: All Cons: Complex menu. Battery life. Lack of a printed user manual in the box Opinion: I use it mainly for birdlife. The autofocus is really a marvel: I come from a D500 that already excelled but this one recognizes the silhouette of the bird and rarely loses it (it also depends on how much it disturbs the background). With the Nikkor 180-600 it balances very well, which is positive because it tires the wrist less and with the use of the tripod. I don't go into technical evaluations because I wouldn't be able to. The image quality is exceptional, my comparison is with the D500. It is a camera with a menu that allows many settings and can become complicated to use because certain customizations are very specific, poorly explained, and of dubious usefulness (in my opinion). I didn't understand why I got jpeg files instead of NEF: only later did I understand that at certain shutter speeds it only produces jpegs. With the D700 there was a nice user manual, with the D750 this was written in -5 characters, from the D500 it is only online. I find this practice very questionable. The cost and complexity of the camera make it necessary, from my point of view, a paper manual, the old-fashioned way. It is not the same to read it on the screen. They do not do it for ecology but to save money. Overall the best camera I own for the photographic genre I practice. Finding fault with it would be ridiculous. The battery life is unacceptable. dolafasol@gmail.com sent on 07 Aprile 2026 |
