panasonic_s24-105_f4ois Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro OIS

Pros: Versatility, sharpness on medium-short planes, stabilization

Cons: Infinity sharpness and long planes

Opinion: Taken in kit with the S1II, I chose it for its versatility, being the first L mount lens for me. It has a good performance, for a kit. Pleasant is F constant, the potential for close up and sharpness on subjects that are still close. fatigue when the subject moves away or in panoramas. At Infinito the sharpness drops a lot over the entire focal length, especially zoom (but in the pixel shift at 100MP there is a clear drop in performance even at 24mm f11). With the S1II's capable Af, it can keep up with my dog even when he runs towards me or in unpredictable directions. Overall it is versatile, returns good colors and images, does not suffer particularly from flare (when there are they do not have a great artistic value, but you expect it from a lens like this), but the loss of sharpness at long planes leaves me perplexed, to the point that I do not exclude a problem of my sample.

panasonic_s1ii Panasonic S1 II

Pros: Speed, menu, image and color quality, dynamic range and latitude, photo and (especially) video tools, auto focus, ARRI log, Construction and weather resistance.

Cons: Battery life, non-automatic AF mode selector, infinite menu (but with great powers...)

Opinion: Excellent body, reliable and capable of excellent performance both in the photographic and video fields. Of this camera you could really praise everything, at the level of the technical sheet: from 15 stops of dynamic range, to 60fps 14bit raw, the best stabilization on the market, the autofocus now perfectly level and the incredible color rendering at high ISO. The construction is also more than solid, having survived a violent wave with absolutely no problems. What I appreciate most about this camera, however, is the versatility, and the quality with which it does everything it does. Whether you're doing B-cam to an ARRI on a film set, short films, high-end studio photography or photo hunting, this body will fit exceptionally well. It is a body that allows you to explore photography and video. It brought back to me the sincere passion and love for image capture, and this is the greatest compliment you can give to such an instrument.
