![]() | Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR Pros: Compactness - Lightness - Waterproofing - Diaphragm ring Cons: Price - Autofocus (due to acoustic noise) Opinion: A great lens, ideal for making a camera to take with you on nature hikes and travels. It is very suitable for taking "conceptual" photos, understood as those in which the quality of the image remains in the background compared to the subject or situation you want to portray and in this sense its 27 mm (40 equivalent) are in my way of thinking the most intuitive focal length and suitable for these purposes. Used examples are offered at absurdly high prices, (in the end I bought it new at the same price as the available used ones). From the point of view of performance it is an excellent lens (imperceptible geometric ornaments) from which, however, we should not expect miracles. I notice that to get results similar to those I achieve with other lenses I have to push more in the RAW processing, for example by pumping the saturation; and also in terms of tonal range it gives me the impression of being a bit "raw". In this regard, at Fuji, the only term of comparison I have is the XF 23mm f/1.4 R, which in terms of image definition and colors outclasses it without reservation (with weights and dimensions more than tenfold however). The aperture ring is very pleasant, very successful for such an optic because, combined with a camera body with an ancient flavor (such as the XT2) you find in your hands a jewel that puts you in a good mood, which makes you feel like a tourist on vacation and allows you to shoot as it was done in the era of mechanics only. The lens cap makes me a little anxious because it attaches to the lens simply by friction of the barrel barrel walls and there is no provision for a strap or similar to make an additional safety seal system. Not very suitable for video shooting due to the noise of the autofocus motor that disturbs the sounds recorded by the camera. sent on December 25, 2024 |
![]() | Voigtlander SL-IIs Ultron 40mm f/2.0 Pros: Compactness, optical quality, build quality. Cons: No autofocus Opinion: It returns beautiful colors, very intense and in general exciting images, very well defined and correct. I chose it as a quality fixed as the 40 mm is the focal length that I like the most. It is defined as "aspherical" and in fact, leaving to the post-production programs the task of reducing geometric aberrations, it is evident that the image, in fact, remains almost unchanged. Build quality worthy of a collector's item. With manual focus only, it is suitable for landscapes and portraits; at F2 the images take on a vignette that makes them intimate. With the limitations given by the absence of Autofocus and Stabilization, and, considering the discreet appearance and compactness that characterize it, I think it is also very suitable for the Street. It suffers from flares from grazing light, (to tell the truth the light affects the filter, the lens is well set back) to avoid which it is advisable to mount a lens hood which, in its original version, has a disproportionate cost (in my opinion). On the market you can find a competitor one, an exact copy of the original, always in aluminum, at a very honest price. However, with such a lens hood attached, the lens is no longer so compact and discreet. Utilitarianly, I think it would be appropriate to use one of those with a retractable rubber frame. sent on September 24, 2024 |
