![]() | Sony A6400 Pros: Compactness, weight, autofocus, build quality of the camera body, screen articulation, small integrated flash, ease of use, beautiful jpeg colors, burst, infinite lens park, price of both new and used Cons: Lack of stabilizer, grip, not very resolute viewfinder, barely sufficient LCD screen resolution, battery, SD card compartment, micro USB, lack of an external battery charger, menu abbreviations (but only in Italian) Opinion: For those who want to approach photography in a more serious way while not spending so much, I consider this camera a best buy! On Amazon, only the body, you can often find it for € 750, while for just over € 800 you can get it with 16-50. I don't think there are any other cameras with these features at that price. It is very versatile, easy to use and extremely compact and lightweight. A real gem! These features combined with the superlative autofocus are what prompted me to buy it at the expense of the excellent XS-10 which unfortunately I could not find new for less than 1000€. The only real lack I felt is the absence of stabilization which, if you want it, remaining in the new APS-C segment of SONY, you have to shell out 1000€ and buy the a6600, but losing the integrated flash which, to me, saved the photo on some occasions. The other defects listed are to be considered but are negligible in my opinion, we are still talking about an "entry level" product in the mirrorless world and I believe that SONY itself has deliberately sacrificed some details to keep the dimensions and weight compact. So, if you are looking for a compact, versatile camera with excellent image quality and construction at an affordable price, I believe that the a6400 is the best choice. sent on December 05, 2024 |
![]() | Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Pros: Light, compact, well built, stabilized, versatile, decently sharp, kit price, AF/MF lever on the barrel, excellent AF even in low light. Cons: All those concerning lenses of this type: slight chromatic aberrations, low light, distortion and vignetting at 18mm (in JPEG the camera corrects everything automatically), flare in backlight and loss of sharpness at 18 and 135mm. Opinion: Having put it to the test in different circumstances and weather conditions, I can say that, overall, my assessment of this lens is positive. Purchased as a kit with the a6400, this lens does its job without infamy and without praise. It is designed to satisfy people who want to have a focal range that can do a little bit of everything, especially when traveling, while still having a decent general quality. The homonyms of the other brands are definitely more expensive and/or heavy. However, I don't feel like recommending it at full price (about € 520), but about 450 for new and 330/350 for used. The sharpness is good from f/5.6 to go up over the entire frame, at full aperture it loses something especially at the extremes. I therefore recommend using it mainly during the day or in bright places if you don't want to go too high with the ISO. The construction is made of plastic, so it is very light, however it feels sturdy and well built to the touch. up to 35mm it practically does not extend and even at 135mm it still maintains a remarkable compactness even with the bad lens hood mounted on it. The internal stabilization is good, I shot handheld even with shutter speeds close to a second without obvious micro-blur. The autofocus is deadly even in low light conditions, thanks also to Sony's noble system, but it is incredible how even a wandering and unpredictable subject such as a dog or a child always manage to be in focus and sharp at the point detected by the sensor. I will not dwell further with various technicalities because it would come out as a book, so, in conclusion, I can say that if you don't know which lens to start with and you want to approach the world of photography with Sony APS-C, this lens is absolutely for you, despite its defects. ![]() | Samsung Galaxy A50 Pros: Like all Samsungs: simple and intuitive to use, cheap, good battery life, processor suitable for the market segment in which it is positioned, decent and discreetly resolute screen, well-made audio speakers. Cons: Quite poor materials, the headphone jack broke as soon as the warranty ended (I use it quite intensively), very flat and sad photo colors, the unbearable and intrusive Bixby every time you update or restart. Opinion: If you consider the fact that it is a phone that I have been using for 4 years and I paid € 250 new, you can't expect much. To be fair, however, I have listed strengths and weaknesses in case someone was thinking of buying this model. Being a blog where you mainly post photos and opinions I will only give my opinion about the photos that this phone takes: poor and sad. The colors are all gray, flat, sterile and with poor workability (my 10-year-old Sony bridge from 80€ produces much higher files than those of this phone). To get a decent result I have to put a lot of effort, both in composition and in post production and in any case the details are lost as soon as I make some changes to the tones or exposure. Certainly the products of the S range produce much better files than this model but they cost much more. I bought it because it is cheap and its work does it, but if you want to take beautiful photos orient yourself on something else. sent on September 18, 2024 |
