Pros: Versatility, lightness, ridiculous cost for what it offers, tropicalization.

Cons: Once you "understand" no cons, indeed, the only one is that you risk stopping using other lenses.

Opinion: To criticize this lens as I often see done, appealing to quality, you have to be a bit silly. It is obvious that it is not a pro lens, it is obvious that it comes out defeated against any other lens (in the range of competence of the other lenses) but heck you just have to understand what its function is! I'll just say one thing, nature or the stories to be told don't wait for you to change your goal. If something happens to you at 100 or 5 meters you risk losing at least one or worse both shots if you don't have the right lens. Clearly the price to pay is the general quality, but are we so sure? Just pass the RAW through one of the many software such as DXO Pure RAW and by magic you will see your shot sharper and less noisy. It's like looking at a photo before and after putting on glasses. Sharpness will not be an issue. You will therefore understand that in certain situations (travel, reportage, street) it is better to have this companion rather than 2/3 lenses dancing in the bag. To recap: the big pro is having a more than decent lens (all of them shot for National Geographic?) and never having to change it at least until sunset. There is no other system in the world a 24-400 equivalent (and trust me that you would complain about that too if it existed, since it would weigh at least 400 grams more, cost over 1200 euros and would not fit in your bag). Then it is light and tropicalized!! I used it on a second body for a safari, it means a finger of sand on the camera. Result? Sensor and glasses as before leaving. Trust me, you would NEVER want to have to change lenses on a safari. Last pro the price: € 500 means that you have to buy it and have it. You won't regret it. Trust. We all want Pro lenses but then you have to feel like carrying them with you even in the places, in the medina of Marrakech, in Indochina, in Caracas.. not only in Scandinavia or Tokyo. So watch out.
