![]() | Sony A7 IV Pros: Sony family feeling, high light management, excellent compromise high ISO/sensor, color science, AF Cons: For now nothing to report Opinion: Mine will be more than an opinion, a comparison between mirrorless. Short preamble, I went through: canon 5D markII, then markIII, then sony a7III flanked by a canon R5... I then resold the canon R5 (after 1 year of use) and now I have the a7IV as the main body. Never choice was more apt! I think that the R5, as I have extensively described in my review, is a camera "badly made", if, in some ways, mechanically is ok, the files it churns out (mpx aside), are really difficult to manage, colors off and strange, gamma in low lights horrible, contrasts light / shadows very difficult to manage in post, ISO manageable up to 6400 ... So after a year of testing every type of service (fashion, still-life, commercial, wedding), I HAPPILY made the transition to the A7IV without any regrets, indeed. For me who only take photos, I found a perfect camera for my way of working, the files, which, let's be honest, are the true heart of what we do, are nothing short of WONDERFUL; I thought I was disappointed by the high iso range coming from sony a7III and instead, I simply said wow, perhaps because, coming from the R5 I seemed to dream, being able to finally count on files at 12800 iso without worrying too much, for me it was like returning to the surface after an apnea. Ultimately I think that, if you are a sony user, switching to canon can be a downgrade; if you are already sony users and want to make a UP from previous models and if you are photographers, I think you will find the usual sony family felling (like it or not, I am now used to it and quickly set the menus and custom buttons). Small further note, the tracking with adapted optics is so much improved compared to the A7III. For me, therefore, sony a7IV is absolutely worth the expense. sent on June 29, 2023 |
