canon_7d_mark2Canon 7D Mark II

Pros: 100% viewfinder coverage. Fast and precise AF. Solid construction like a rock. Better ergonomics than the old 7D and 5D MKIII. 500 Pages of manual + manual AF. 10 frames per second. Flicker function. Double slot.

Cons: Articulated screen. Lack of Wifi. Not exciting battery life (but not a big deal). 500 Pages of manual + manual AF. He suffers from high ISOs. A few points to F8.

Opinion: When I bought the 7D MKII I wanted to compare it with the 80D to understand which one was the best. I needed a machine to use as a second body (alongside 6D) or main body for birdlife. Hand data it seems that the 7D II only has the advantage of the AF, otherwise the 80D had to be better (more AF points at F8, articulated display, new sensor, new exposure meter and above all white balance). Certainly for general use the 80D is a better choice, but for a use related to sports and photographic hunting, the greater responsiveness of the AF system, combined with a more solid body and more professional ergonomics, a 100% viewfinder, the double slot, the flicker function for indoor sports and the 10 fps make her win the challenge. However, the MKII 7D sensor is not as evil as it sounds. As a former owner of 7D OLD and 5D MKIII, I can say that it will certainly have a stop of advantage on the 7D OLD, but by raising the ISOs to have faster times, but in the presence of good light, the 7D MKII creates much more workable files, so much so that you can safely shoot at 3200 ISO, I would also risk the 4000 if the light is very good. In general the grain is much better than that of the 7D OLD. Compared to the 80D it has less than 1 stop ahead. Moreover, the best 80D performance is only evident at low ISO. The colors are great, better than the 7D OLD and also the 80D (often a bit flat). As an AF it is certainly superior to that of the 5D MKIII, with also the advantage of shooting at F8. Unfortunately, the points at F8 are really too few and not fast enough and distributed to be able to exploit them for photographic hunting. The configuration of the AF is very complex, the presets are very good, but you have to learn to know them to use them at the right times. The 500-page manual + the manual for AF, I put it in both pros and cons. Certainly having such a detailed manual makes it clear how professional this product is, but at the same time it discourages most users from reading it and partly understanding it. Even with the 90D output, this 7D II I think is always the aps-c professional machine of the house. In fact, it is still a reference as AF (that of 90D is an evolution of that of 80D). I expect the release of the MKIII 7D in the future, even though we are in the ML era, I don't think Canon misses the opportunity to take advantage of what he put on the 1DX MKIII. Like all good things you realize how much they are only after you no longer have it, in fact I do this review after selling the car, but certainly if the economies allow it in the future I will buy it back.

canon_5dCanon 5D

Pros: Canon commands. Sound of the metal shutter, it sounds better than a violin. Beautiful file for color. Perfect grain for black and white.

Cons: Lack of af-ON key. protection. Not recommended for novice photographers.

Opinion: Whoever picks up this car needs to know he's in his good age. So no files with extreme GD, no ultrabrilliant screen, no liveview, no video, no 500-point AF sensors and more points. In good light conditions, the final file does not make more modern machines like 5D MKIII and 6D regret. Obviously with little light the limit to the high ISO is felt. Even in high contrast situations you won't have much chance. But when you press the button, the shutter noise is something that makes the courts of the soul vibrate to all photography enthusiasts who appreciate these things (so the deaf mirrorlessians might not understand). The lack of the AF-ON is something overcomeable (after years of use, missing a button is hard). The machine screen is virtually unusable, especially in broad daylight. If you use it to take pictures of friends and family, do not show the preview, because with the idea of today's smartphones, they will look at you how to say, what is this crap. The screen is small, very flat colors, very little contrast. I don't recommend it to first-time photographers, who might think that a fullframe is the solution to all their ills. The risk of having in your hand a great car but with the idea of having made a cabbage to buy it because you do not realize the potential For those who already chew photography is the ideal body to experience something different as long as you use it knowing the flaws and don't try in post-production to do what you do today (often exaggerating and wrong).
