![]() | Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Pros: Versatile, I thought less sharp at 400, from the tests I did in full light.. my problem is not being able to close too much by going into difraction. It has a more robust look than the 16-300 it replaces. Cons: I miss the ring with distances. Useful at night. Opinion: I know it's not crisp at 400 at full opening, but photographing during the day is no problem going beyond F8. In fact, in macro I tend to close to have more PDCs. I don't need a blade.. I don't think I have to croppare. Obviously at 400 you have to have a steady hand but from the first tests it does not seem to me to be bad. I do not claim to challenge specialized optics but what I have is enough for me and advances. I would have spent more on a heavier and more sophisticated 15-400.. Lightness for me is a machine, an optics and a battery... sent on April 07, 2021 |
![]() | Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro Pros: Versatile.. light even too much... Economic... Cons: It is, of course, a compromise and it cannot be a blade. Rather.. it's never enough... if it slipped towards a 15.. or about a 400?.. I'd be willing to spend more.. to carry more weight to have an even more pushed lens... there are fixes that are bigger, weigh and cost more.... Opinion: I started from the very light.. Canon IXUS, Olimpus TG-2.. then a Panasonic bridge with a ridiculous sensor... I have sought the best compromise, even though I want maximum flexibility. A decent APS sensor with dynamic range... autonomy and an all-rounder optics as far as possible. I also have a sigma 17-50 2.8... that I use only under special conditions.. where I seek resolution.. a Nikon 18-140.. excellent compromise.. but I can't give up the 16-300.... What different would I like?.. a stronger optics.. more expensive heavier.. to be able to get to 10~12 megapixels effective.. with a 15-400.. or a 15-600... I don't care if it weighs a pound and a half... sent on October 19, 2020 |
