Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Pros: Size, aesthetics, optical quality, color rendering, bokeh Cons: Old-fashioned, non-tropicalized autofocus Opinion: Having clarified that I don't photograph to eat, this lens for me is simply perfect From the aesthetics on any XT body, to the color rendering, to the sharpness, to the blur. For those who love to use the equivalent of the 35mm, shooting without haste, this is THE lens. Taken used, alas it still keeps the price after 13 years ... there must be a reason. I tried the new model (WR) for a few days, the spark did not go off due to a rendering that was too "perfect", too "clinical", it was a no, thanks. The sharpness in the center is to die for already at f/1.4, it perfects the edges by closing, but the rendering and character of the edges and the blur up to f/2.8 give that aesthetic sense to the photos that made me fond of this lens. The autofocus is perceptible, although much less than in the 35 f/1.4. It's fast enough not to lose a smile or a grimace, but there's better for tracking. It never represents a problem, for those who know how to photograph. It doesn't have tropicalization, too bad, nevertheless I've never had problems with dust either inside the lens or on the sensor. For me this 23 is a 10. sent on 27 Aprile 2026 |

Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 R WR Pros: Sharpness, compactness, autofocus Cons: For me no one Opinion: Of the Fujichron triad (23, 35, 50) this is the only one I kept. It is practically welded to the XT1 with which I enjoy photographing every time. Recommended for its compactness and the possibility of really shooting with one hand, if the need arises. I also have the older brother f/1.4 not WR with which I have much less fun but which I am fond of and which I will not sell. In terms of IQ, with the same apertures, the difference between the two is there, of course, but to be honest I see it more on the screen than in print: up to 20x30 they are indistinguishable. Nevertheless, this f/2 kept at f/2.8 or f/4, DR400, ISO 640 and on the road with the XT1 I focus only on composition and focus. A real workhorse. I've never used it at night: as a result I use the older brother f/1.4 on XT4, cum summo gaudio. sent on 27 Aprile 2026 |

Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR Pros: Lightness, compactness, tropicalization Cons: Cat's eyes at the edges Opinion: I had the fujichron triad (23,35,50) and of all three this is the one that made me enjoy the most. Really remarkable to have so much AF readiness and compactness to take a few light walks in the city. Correct tonal rendering, saturates just right. I really enjoyed it. I gave it away to stay with the 1.4 because of the cat's eye effect in the lights at the edges. During the day, however, I appreciated the bokeh. Very sharp from f/2, especially in the center. If I get the opportunity again, I will take it back for X-pro and for daytime shooting. sent on 27 Aprile 2026 |
