![]() | Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM Pros: Handling, sharpness, construction. Cons: Sometimes autofocus sees us badly. Opinion: I purchased this used lens and in excellent condition. The use I make of it is exclusively related to bird life and I must say that in general it meets my expectations; The sharpness is very good, although I expected a little more. It is likely that the feeling of non-superb sharpness derives from the fact that I use this lens combined with an APS-C sensor, having a 70d. I wonder if actually on Full Frame the sharpness of this lens can make a real leap forward or if it is sea bass. With regard to autofocus, I found some indecision in poor light conditions (absolutely physiological indecisions for an f/5.6) and also in fine adjustments, for example among the fronds of trees, in which it sometimes shows difficulties in "centering". The slightest focus distance, 8.5 meters, is not a big problem for me. The aforementioned minimum focus distance is "switchable" to 3.5 meters thanks to a selector. Overall positive assessment. Waiting to try the lens on Full Frame. Darius sent on March 13, 2021 |
