![]() | Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Pros: Robust, tropicalized, beautiful colors, fast and silent MAF, used now is within everyone's reach Cons: 24mm pronounced distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations at all focal points Opinion: A Canon house classic, I think it's among the best-selling goals in the history of the red white house. I used it for five years, first on APSC and then on FF, taking it with me on countless trips and excursions both in Italy and abroad. Robustness and reliability make it a perfect travel lens in terms of versatility on the focals, less so if you look for the optical quality that is not particularly high here despite offering a really good color rendering. In fact, it suffers from pronounced distortion, especially at 24mm, which can be safely resolved in post but the same cannot be said of chromatic aberration. Compared to today's all-rounder zooms it is now a dinosaur, but with the disposal of many reflex kits you can take it home at very affordable prices, ideal for those who approach photography on a small budget. sent on April 11, 2021 |
![]() | Sony A7 III Pros: Lightning fast and precise AF, wonderful dynamic range, ISO seal, file cleaning, customizable keys, autonomy Cons: EVF not up to scratch, missing charger, slow Opinion: A choice, that for this A7III, the result of a long reasoning. After years of Reflex Canon I felt the need to change, first in the dimensions and then in the reliability of an AF that with 6D began to stay very tight. It is an entry level only on paper and the definition of the parent company really makes you smile if we think that it is still a machine body of almost 2 thousand € on which the competition has taken a couple of years to bridge the gap. The autofocus, fast and reliable, is in some respects moving: for those coming from the reflex world it is an embarrassing leap forward and allows you to shoot with much more tranquility knowing that you can take the shot home. Raw are of considerable cleanliness and workability and at high ISO allows you to continue shooting when, previously, you had already stored the machine in your backpack. The lens park available is impressive even just by staying in the Sony house, the third-party one we don't really talk about. It's obviously not perfect. Sony has decided not to include the wall charger, which alone costs the beauty of a hundred euros and the solution adopted to charge it via USB-C (whose presence is very welcome) is not ideal in all situations and is significantly slower. The EVF is poor and the opinion on this is shared a little by anyone, fortunately I have not yet experienced eye fatigue. Touch only works for focus area selection, which is a shame because the other flaw of this Alpha is the overall slowness of the interface, a step back from what I was used to with the REFLEX. Despite these sorceress it remains an exceptional machine, even three years after launch and I wish I had taken this step much earlier. sent on March 28, 2021 |
