![]() | Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Pros: focal length, the cheapest way to achieve 600mm. sharpness, stop down to f7.1 or f8 for best results. AF. comparative size/weight. price. Cons: not as sharp as the primes. focus ring turns opposite way to canon and ergonomics not as good as canon tele zooms. Size weight, heavy lens. Opinion: I really like using this lens, not perfect but very very good. Best IQ on full frame or 1.3 crop. APSC still good. I think I may have got a good copy as I understand some others have focus sharpness problems. Not as good as my canon 100-400 ll lens but very hard to tell the difference. Build quality very good. heavy lens but manageable with a strap to take the weight. arch swiss tripod foot as standard. I previously owned the sigma contemporary which I sold as had issues with sharpness and focusing. The lens is relatively heavy but still able to carry around for hours easier than a prime, therefore the better option as will use more often. Ability to blur the backgrounds at F8 given the right circumstances, very pleasing results. No hesitation in using this lens instead of my 100-400. I recommend this lens. sent on October 17, 2021 |
![]() | Canon 1D Mark IV Pros: AF, Higher ISO, ergonomics and handling, files, Cons: Weight (though balances well with larger lenses ), noisy shutter, Opinion: I use this in conjunction with 2 other DSLRs (5D mk4 and 90D) so not my main camera. I owned another 1D mk4 5 years ago but sold it as I wanted more flexibility purchasing full frame and APSC bodies. I bought a 1d mk3 prior to this but this is better in every respect. The price of these cameras now is ridiculously low, so I indulged myself and paid £300 for a good condition 170,000 shutter count from dealer with 6 month warranty. What a bargain.. I cant believe these came out in 2009. The 1D mk4 is a joy to use everything just works very well, AF is fast and always accurate (unlike my 90D) delivering very clean files at higher ISOs (again unlike my 90D). It oozes quality, the build, the weight which I don't mind, the way everything is in the right place remind you this was a top of the range £4000 work horse at one time. You just know this will go on producing the goods for years to come. It feels churlish to mention any negatives.. But it hasn't got spot focusing unless you use specific lenses, No exposure compensation with auto ISO when in manual. 16mps so try to fill the frame rather than drastic cropping. I can see myself using this for a long time. Thoroughly recommended as a second camera but any paid work and I would use my 5D mk4. sent on October 02, 2021 |
![]() | Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD Pros: sharpness, good contrast, versatility, relative compactness and weight, focus accuracy, price, Cons: servo focus and tracking not as fast as similar canon L lens Opinion: This is my 2nd lens as the 1st lens had focus issues. Very pleased with this lens. Very sharp with good contrast at Max aperture 6.3 ( very slight improvement at F8 ) at 400mm which is where it is used mostly. Focus is quick and precise, good for slow moving everyday subjects. However tracking is slower than my canon 400mm 5.6 lens, which is to be expected. Any bird in flight or fast moving photography I use the canon lens which is fantastic, however it has limitations with close focus at 14 feet and no image stabilisation. This is when the Tamron lens takes over. This is a joy to use and I find myself using it the majority of times when I want reach and versatility. I would recommend this lens. sent on October 21, 2018 |
