![]() | Nikon Micro 55mm f/3.5 AI Pros: Optical and mechanical quality Cons: Appearance of out-of-focus light points Opinion: Bought for a very low amount, it adds to my vintage normal optical park (as many as 7, everyone has their own mania). This also offers the macro possibility: 1:2 without the extension ring, 1:1 with the ring but losing focus indefinitely. What to say, the mechanical quality is very high. The optical quality, closing at least one stop the diaphragm, holds the 24 mp quietly. Used indefinitely I definitely prefer my two Planars (Zeiss Rollei and Contax), for their obvious greater plasticity and the Mamiya for the most pictorial rendering. In macro use the sharpness is very high, but the out-of-focus light points tend to take on a very marked hexagonal appearance that sometimes disturbs in the reading of the image. The value for money is still very favorable. sent on August 09, 2020 |
![]() | Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 35-135 f/3.3-4.5 (C/Y) Pros: Very high optical quality, macro mode. Great versatility Cons: Size and weight Opinion: It's the lens with which I have shared many trips and many shots on film. Now on digital it is still able to give me very pleasant images with a sharpness, colors and an enviable contrast, superior to many much newer lenses. The construction is very solid, it is an on touch zoom and has a macro mode, with a minimum focus distance of 26 cm. This mode can be activated by pulling a dial at the bottom focal and is very useful in close-up images, even if it does not reach zoom ratios from real macro. The front lens does not rotate during focus, which is very useful with filters, especially with the polarizer. Too bad you have to spend so much on them given the front diameter is 82 mm. The sharpness is already good at 35 mm at full opening, improves by closing the diaphragm more prominently at the edges rather than in the center. There is, at this focal point, a modest distortion of barrels and a bit of vignette that does not bother much. Sharpness improves with increasing focus. At 135 mm it keeps very high and the bokeh is quite pleasant. The colors and appearance of the images are typically and authentically Zeiss. It is an extremely versatile lens whose only real flaw lies in size and weight. I wouldn't sell it for anything to the world. In my first digital images I came out only with this lens and the 28 Distagon and it was a nice photograph. sent on December 18, 2019 |
![]() | Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: Size, weight, AF speed, good sharpness Cons: Overall non-top optical performance Opinion: I bought used this lens for 475 euros including transportation and I think at this price it is a good deal. I come from a Zeiss fixed optics kit and the 35-135 Vario Sonnar Zeiss zoom for Contax, which has been used on a Sony A7III fullframe this summer. This objective was purchased to replace the Vario Sonnar in routine use. Compared to its predecessor, it's overwhelmed by weight, lightness and practicality, but it's not comparable in optical quality. The Vario Tessar is a lens that gives excellent colors, good contrast, good sharpness and that becomes very good from the diaphragm 7.1. But anyone who says he's a real Zeiss means he never used these lenses. It is, however, a very good lens to use to capture the moment, the moment, the image then unrepeatable with a very good overall quality and excellent practicality. For slow, reasoned photos, you can get better results with other goals from the cost, however, much higher. sent on December 14, 2019 |
