![]() | Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4 E PF ED VR Pros: Sharpness, AF, final optical output Cons: For the moment I don't know... Opinion: I bought this lens a bit as a bet, I confess, to join its big brother 500 PF. Found used Nital in more than excellent condition, the optics turned out to be a pleasant surprise, in spite of the several not always positive reviews found on the net. I have to say, though, that my user experience is limited for the time being. Mounted on the D500, the AF is fast, quiet (a lot) and accurate; The sharpness, especially at f5-5.6, is certainly superior to that of the 200-500 (lens that I had and squeezed) and I really like the final performance. I didn't notice any chromatic aberrations but, yes, in certain particular lighting conditions it overexposes a bit, but at the moment it doesn't seem anything dramatic to me. Weight and portability are virtues not to be underestimated at all: as soon as I picked it up, I almost couldn't believe so much handling and it was a great pleasure to take it on a couple of excursions. I'm waiting to try it on D850 and D6 and, over time, who knows, I'll correct my judgment. For now, it's highly recommended! sent on March 11, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon D850 Pros: Everything that can be said positive Cons: None of the negative Opinion: Purchased Nital a month ago, to support the D500 (which now mounts the 500PF on a permanent basis), together with the 24-70 f2.8 VR and - found still new - the excellent 70-200 f4, I must say that the expense was not trivial and I confess to having had a thousand doubts about the purchase of a SLR and not a mirrorless, given the transition under way. But I pulled straight, and, made the first photos, just no regrets (churns out files at the end better than a Z7 II and I speak for direct comparison) and I will enjoy it for years to come. Of course I can't say that I have tested it thoroughly, but the virtues of the D850 have been extensively extolled in previous reviews. Immediately, however, I was conquered by the solidity of a camera body where nothing is missing (but I was already used to the D500) and I was frankly amazed by raw and jpeg files that do not need almost anything in pp (with the D500, used for naturalistic and en passant with the 16-80 DX, I dream of them ...). Of course it consumes resources and you need fast cards and equally performing computers. In short, it will be the enthusiasm of the moment, but I do not think I am partial in saying that the D850 embodies the state of the DSLR art. Then we'll see what Nikon has in store for years to come. For the moment I vote 10!! sent on May 26, 2023 |
