voigtlander_e110_f2-5macroVoigtlander E 110mm f/2.5 Macro Apo-Lanthar

Pros: Construction Maneuverability Optical perfection

Cons: Weight Lack of weather sealing

Opinion: Put plainly: it is one of the most optically perfect lenses that can be put in front of a Sony mirrorless. That said, leaving aside the construction quality that accompanies the Cosina Voigtländer brand which is one of the few guarantees left nowadays, it is an optics that given the focal length must be evaluated on 3 aspects: macro / portrait / landscape. As for the macro it has a 1:1 ratio with exceptional contrast and sharpness. The ease of focusing is ensured by a very long stroke and a very pleasant response of the focusing ring. On portraits it can count on a very soft blur in many situations, on bright spots sometimes makes a few cat's eye. Finally, if used as a lens for landscapes, it returns excellent sharpness and microcontrast even at angles from f / 4 onwards even if already at full aperture it already makes very well. The price, for optical quality and all-metal construction with very few tolerances is adequate. It is an entirely different object compared to the Chinese macro mf that have come out lately and frankly the price difference is amply justified.

zeiss_batis40_f2Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 CF

Pros: Sharpness, three-dimensionality, versatility, focal length very useful as a walkaround

Cons: Variability between copies, front focus problems with some specimens

Opinion: I state that I had a hard time finding a good copy of this goal. The first new purchase on Amazon absolutely unreliable as MAF in EyeAF even after firmware update: reluctantly made because optically it was perfect. Second purchase: a former demo from the online store of a well-known dealer of photographic material in northern Italy. Outrageous specimen, with awkward front focus and decent sharpness only starting at f/5.6. Probably a mix between constant front focus and decentralization, or optics damaged and resold as good. Returned with difficulty for poor compliance of the store in recognizing that they wanted to trim me a lemon. Third attempt: a used ebay user who provided me in advance with all the evidence I asked for. It seemed like the right time and indeed it was. Perfect optics, fast and precise MAF, moving clarity over the entire range. If Zeiss had paid more attention to quality control than this lens I think there would be no stories about the ultimate walkaround lens for Sony FE. Lightweight, small, ultra versatile for normal focal length and close focus with RR 1:3, sharp, Zeiss colors, 3D pop. But what a struggle to find a right copy! Currently I'm really happy and I would probably do all this slamming again because it's really worth it.

tamron_70-180_f2-8iiiTamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD

Pros: Optical quality, size, weight, feeling of solidity.

Cons: Lack of controls on the lens body, finishes, focus breathing

Opinion: I purchased this lens for portrait and landscape, so with some attention to the portability of the lens. I use an A9mk2. I also tried the 70-200/4 G and the 70-200/2.8 GM. The sony both have a complete lens body, with excellent finishes and an important feeling of solidity. The GM however despite being light for a 2.8 is too heavy for my needs. The G is perfect even if I was a bit scared by the reports on the web of a break in the middle of the lens with non-critical stresses. From an optical point of view between the Sony G and the Tamron there is no comparison. Sharpness, bokeh, resolution and of course openness are all in favor of tamron and much too. The only point where the Sony wins is the fidelity of the colors: I find the Sony more neutral while the Tamron in certain light conditions returns warmer shades. For me it is an excellent lens, which as optical quality plays with the 70-200/2.8 flagship while maintaining compactness and lightness. We must congratulate Tamron for this really well done project.

lowepro_photo_hatchback_22lLowepro Photo Hatchback 22L AW

Pros: lightweight, versatile

Cons: quality of the stitching shoulder

Opinion: I bought this backpack as a handyman and are satisfied. The camera compartment is small but there is my K5 + grip mounted with 16-50, 60-250 / 4 and remains space for a flash or some pancakes / limited. The top compartment is large enough and has retinas and a document holder waxed. The front pocket can easily accommodate an ipad and a mbp 13 '. The choice, however, the front pocket portapc means that care must be taken to impact. The seams of the shoulder straps are weak, after 4 days I have a frayed and dumped. I repaired with a nylon suture (expired !!!) 0 and now I can take an elephant in your backpack shoulder straps which will not give more!

pentax_hd1-4xPentax HD DA AF 1.4x AW Rear Converter

Pros: Materials, tropicalization

Cons: Price

Opinion: I bought this TC finally compatible with SDM (eccheccasso pentax, finally!) For use with DA300 and DA60-250 both f / 4. What I found was: rnNitidezza: excellent on 300, no loss. Good on 60-250, the optimal closed if a stop.rnSfocato: perfect 300, perfect on 60-250rnVelocità and AF performance: unchanged at 300, unchanged on 60-250. rnAberrazioni color: none out of 300, none of 60-250rnMicrocontrasto: slightly less than 300, slightly less on 60-250.rnHo bed of some exemplary optical performance with less, but I can only be happy with my price apart from that I find too high (should cost less than 70 € less!)

pentax_300Pentax SMC DA* 300mm f/4.0 ED (IF) SDM

Pros: Risolvenza wide open, construction and weather sealing, compactness, weight

Cons: lack of fire limiter

Opinion: I think this lens is the daughter of a long history of excellent 300/4 Pentax started in with the series F *, and I think this lens will be the best specimen failed. Constructively is a small masterpiece of strength and compactness, lightweight but solid, made of metal. Optically that mean? Sharpest wide open with a peak very slightly greater than 5.6 in the MTF, but not recognizable to the monitor; bokeh sweet and pleasant, never intrusive and always creamy and chromatically beautiful. The colors are saturated and returned hot, never seen anything like it. The micro-contrast is good and the lens an incisive character on the first floor. It has excellent macro capabilities, and I think with an achromatic doublet can still improve. And 'free from chromatic aberrations, and has a good resistance to flare. The autofocus is quiet and fast enough to photograph birds in flight, it would have been useful, however, a focus limiter. Optics flawless, fun and great value.

pentax_60-250Pentax SMC DA* 60-250mm f/4.0 ED (IF) SDM

Pros: Solid construction, sealed optical quality, versatility

Cons: Resistance to flares, loss of focus with close subject, not internal zoom

Opinion: This is a very special lens, which aims to replace the Pentax lineup in one fell swoop the "neoclassical" on APSC 70-200 and 100-400 on the classic FF. The range of focal lengths that results is very interesting, and makes this lens suitable for many applications, from portraits to sports, from the landscape to nature. From the construction point of view this lens is bomb-proof, has tropicalization AW and a practical support for removable tripod collar. The f SDM, it is very reliable and accurate, and also quite fast (on k5IIs). The lens is internal focus, convenient feature that makes it more compact but the common problem that causes loss of focal subjects. Zooming is not internal, and you will have a nice 250mm cannon, unlike the 50-135 brother that retains its small size at each focal length. Optically the lens is amazingly sharp wide open with a slight loss on the edges of the focal increased, and reaches the perfection of the whole frame at f/5.6. I have never encountered chromatic aberrations even in areas with highcontrast, sharpness and risolvenza are outstanding, and the image is always very good contrast and crisp, thanks to a strong microcontrast. The colors are well saturated and returned slightly warm, with no dominant, and landscapes will gradevolissimi tonal passages with the correct light. The resistance to flare is poor even with the lens hood attached, and if you want to include the sun in the frame, you will have some difficulty, especially with oblique light. The bokeh is never intrusive, is mellow and pleasant, making this lens very suitable for portrait photography. The cost is high, but justifies the overall quality of this lens truly unique, versatile and very high quality.

pentax_35_macroPentax SMC DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited

Pros: Compact, metal construction perfect for true Limited, excellent optical quality, crystal clear even at full aperture. Macro 1:1. Resistance to flare proverbial.

Cons: Macro Shooting Distance 1:1 very small (compared to the hood), paint the cap delicate, not weather sealed.

Opinion: It is one of the best fixed and Pentax in general. It acts as a normal luxury APSC, and is perfect for macro flowers or objects. The only thing is that the 1:1 macro shooting distance is very small and can be difficult to get a good lighting of the subject if you do not have an off camera flash or ring finger. A resolution has a sharpness and proverbial, you can take pictures without fear of direct sun flares, I've never encountered problems of chromatic aberration, distortion and is non-existent in the pocket. Ah, it costs almost half of the Sigma 35mm (which is, however, an f/1.4). One of the reasons why it is worth having a Pentax. A lot of quality in a rugged, compact, low price. Need more?

pentax_16-50Pentax SMC DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM

Pros: Tropical conditions and constant f2.8, wide-angle and telephoto good, soft and pleasing bokeh, color rendering exceptionally unique character.

Cons: Loses quality at the edges, resistance to purple fringing is not optimal, of little use in external f2.8, first samples with known jams SDM, the diameter of the front lens of 77mm

Opinion: ? the best standard zoom for the Pentax DA series. This does not mean that it could be improved though: apart from the chronic problem of the SDM (resolved in the most recent examples) is guilty of sharpness at the edges especially at full aperture. Its sweet spot is around f5.6, where it becomes very usable and offers excellent quality at both 20-40 mm (where for the better), but also acceptable to the extreme telephoto and wide angle. The color rendition is superb, and where the risolvenza is not extraordinary, it returns a three-dimensional feel very special, and offers a good level of contrast. The bokeh of this lens is very good, never pushy and usually nice and creamy. The price, however, does not justify the offer qualitative, counting the Tamron equivalent provides quality somewhat similar to lower price. Significant distortion, it offers a good resistance to flare, I instead found significant problems with purple fringing in areas of high contrast, easily corrected in post-production. The construction is excellent, Is a tank and allowing the sealing AW really extreme use. One particular zoom, which is worth taking used and free from uncertainties in the ultrasonic motor.
