nikon_18-55dx_vr2Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR II

Pros: Sharpness, versatility, lightness, price, stabilizer

Cons: Dark, flare resistance, autofocus not impeccable, distortion at the shorter focal, blurred

Opinion: It is worth more than it costs, it is very sharp, light, has a good stabilizer but how dark it is!! It is a lens that allows you to do everything and nothing in the sense that it has a discrete rendering at all focal lengths but does not allow you to make extraordinary photos. When I took the camera I bought this and the 35 fixed F 1.8 and how it ended? That 18-55 I didn't use it anymore. The resistance to flare is not the best, the distortions to 18 mm are important but correctable, I do not like the blurry and sometimes L AF is not very precise. Instead it is very sharp and well stabilized. I do not recommend it however as an optical to start better starting with a fixed that gives much better results.

tokina_11-16_f2-8_v2Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 DX II

Pros: Used price, brightness, limited optical distortion, sharpness, autofocus

Cons: Flareeeee darn flare, short focal, weight.

Opinion: It's a wide angle, so one of those lenses that when you do architectural photos you say; Ahhh at last! Welcome angle of Field! I paid 285 on Amazon warehouse deals practically new, used located on 300, at the price of the new: 500 and passes I would never take it. The focal hike is not as reduced as it seems, maybe it took a few more mm down and it would have been the perfect lens for the interior where it behaves very well, is crisp already closing one or two stops, is bright f2.8, beautiful colors, and I have to say that compared to other wide angles (e.g. Sigma 10-20) I noticed minor distortions. Outside the speech changes as long as you are with the sun behind everything well, but if by chance the sunlight will enter the field framed by the flare you relentlessly punish you with ugly effects on the photos, even with the lens hood mounted. In good light condition, but also low brightness, it is fantastic for photos in town, street, and interior and exterior architecture on DX. I found at least in my specimen an excellent autofocus, rarely fails. It is a bit heavy for my d5100 and already feels that it is slightly unbalanced but not too much. I recommend it especially for the sharpness and brightness compared to the price for which L I paid!

nikon_35dxNikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8 G

Pros: Weight, sharpness, brightness, flare resistance, price, focus distance

Cons: Autofocus, chromatic aberrations

Opinion: Blessed the day that when I took the d5100 I decided to flank the 18-55 from kit this lens. Result? The lens from kit I almost never used it. Exceptional brightness and sharpness, if used well allows you to make excellent photos without spending a capital in expensive lenses, even with my now old Nikon. It is a lens that requires a minimum of attention, in strong light conditions suffers a little chromatic aberrations, however correggibbili. Instead in case of low brightness the autofocus is not always precise, but I found it very convenient to use in manual focus despite missing the scale of distances. As far as I'm concerned on DX is the optics par excellence for portraits set at a low cost, with its beautiful blurred; But with a little creativity you can also do landscapes and street even if it has a corner of the field a bit tight. It is a lens that leads to experiment thanks also to its low focusing distance, not suitable for macro however that allows to get interesting effects based on the Sogggetto
