Reviews of cameras, lenses, tripods, heads and other accessories written by Luc19558

nikon_z1-4xNikon Z TC-1.4x

Pros: Optical and build quality.

Cons: Nothing, apart from the obvious criticalities of all teleconverters

Opinion: Built very well, solid, the TC 1.4 and my Z 100-400 once mounted in the car, and brandishing the same, seem to be a single piece. With the 1.4 the maximum aperture loses "only" an aperture, an acceptable sacrifice, while the sharpness remains good, not the same, but the difference is not such as to jump to the eye. This TC is the best I've ever had, including those of other brands like Canon and Fuji, which I still own and use..... there is no story, even if the Fuji works well. I also had the opportunity to try the Z TC 2x, and I didn't like it at all, you lose 2 apertures and this is obvious, but you also lose a lot of sharpness, too much, I don't recommend it. On the contrary, I recommend the TC 1.4, if you need to lengthen an optic it is an excellent compromise that brings obvious advantages.

fujifilm_xh2sFujifilm X-H2S

Pros: Ergonomics, autofocus, beautiful jpegs and very workable RAW, possibility to set it in your own image and likeness

Cons: At 40 FPS the autofocus misses a few photos, but most are in focus

Opinion: I bought it in June 2023, and used it a lot, especially this summer and fall. For all those who had the problem of ISO, don't worry, now you can put them on one of the wheels or wherever you want. What amazed me the most was the autofocus that turned out to be incredibly accurate in sports (football, motosport, basketball and skiing) but also in the family sphere such as dogs and children, which are anything but easy subjects. I say that it surprised me because I had seen some videos that did not speak well of it at all and had almost convinced me not to buy it, then I rented it and tried it for a day on a football field (Serie A) and all doubts disappeared. It is obvious, however, that it also takes a bit of "craft". The files produced are the usual Fuji, and although the sensor is staked it produces the same files as those of my XT3 and my X100V and it is not a small thing, since they are really beautiful. The dynamic range is as good as the ISO hold, but not at the level of a full frame, especially the ISO hold. I also took the batterygrip, more for convenience than for necessity, since the battery lasts just the right amount and I must say that it is built really well, with all the necessary buttons replicated and well placed. In short, I'm glad I got it, so happy that I also took the smooth XH2, but that's another story. I read the review that precedes mine, that of Mr. Fabio Inse 84, who had autofocus problems with wide-angle lenses and I must say that I have never encountered such a problem! On the contrary, with my 8-16 the autofocus is very fast and accurate at all focal lengths and apertures. I hope you can solve your problem. Greetings to all
