![]() | Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD Pros: General performance, construction, stabilization, tripod ring included with Swiss ark, compactness. Cons: Focal block ring not very practical, weight not exactly feather, fairly basic lens hood. Opinion: Excellent lens, sharp at t.a. at all focal lengths, good construction, good autofocus, fast enough for birds or racing cars, and excellent stabilizer. A bit heavy but compact to carry, lens hood not excellent. I find the focal lock ring useful but sometimes I lock it involuntarily while I zommo.lock keys when closed, type of af, type of stabilization to use practical and in the right place. I would buy it again. sent on October 26, 2025 |
![]() | Sigma 20-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DG C Pros: Practicality, versatility, lightweight, compact, good overall image quality. Cons: A bit of distortion at 20mm, slight drop at the edges at wide-angle focal lengths but nothing excessive, a bit dark, zoom ring that turns in reverse compared to Sony Opinion: The lens is well built, plastic yes, but not cheap, in line with contemporary Sigma. Dimensions and weight are relatively compact for the type of lens. Well-frictioned dials, a bit hard in the first part, that of the zoom. Average lens hood, attaches well. Let's move on to the impressions about the photos. Sharpness, also excellent at t.a. from 35mm to 200mm even at the edges, while from 20mm to 28mm it remains excellent in the center while it drops a little at the edges (nothing tragic safely usable) however it is advisable to close a stop if you want a uniform performance. The discourse of sharpness applies to both short and long distances. In general much much better than I expected on 42mpx. (I use a Sony A7R3) Chromatic aberrations in the norm, pretty good blur and good flare resistance. Backlit star that is not bad at all between f14 and f18 especially in wide-angle focal lengths. Always consider that we are talking about an all-rounder zoom. The only drawback to be picky is a bit dark and with a rather important distortion and vignetting between 20 and 28mm but nothing impossible to correct in post. (Currently there is no profile for lightroom, I have used for now the profile of a 28-200 sigma modifying it slightly) Precise and fairly fast AF. The macro capabilities of 1:2 from 20mm up to 85mm are remarkable. In short, I would say that it is worth what it costs, nothing to do with the "zoomons" built up to a few years ago. I don't regret the sony 24-105 I traded it in. sent on October 26, 2025 |
