![]() | OM System M.Zuiko 50-200mm f/2.8 IS PRO Pros: Compactness, focal range, fixed aperture F2.8, internal zoom, construction Cons: It's not a real con, but the price has a negative impact unfortunately Opinion: The new M.Zuiko Digital ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO is a lens that combines compactness with high-level performance. With a focal range equivalent to 100-400mm on full frame, it represents an extremely versatile solution, capable of ranging from landscape to wildlife photography without compromise. The constant aperture of F2.8 ensures brightness and consistency throughout the excursion, a significant advantage especially in low light conditions. Another highlight is the internal zoom, which keeps the lens balanced and easy to handle, which is valuable for both handheld and tripod use. The PRO construction also offers resistance to dust, splashes and frost, making it suitable for those who work outdoors in all seasons. The 50-200mm is compatible with the MC-14 and MC-20 teleconverters, which bring the maximum focal length up to 800mm equivalent while maintaining an aperture of F5.6, a feature that makes it particularly interesting for wildlife photography. I had the opportunity to test it in the field, both at the Gran Sasso for landscape photography, and in the National Park for nature photography, and the impressions were extremely positive. Those interested can see my full test on YouTube (https://youtu.be/0Vn0W78pl10), and I will also add a gallery of sample images taken with this lens. sent on September 10, 2025 |
