![]() | Sony A7r II Pros: Sensor, autofocus (not like A7III or A9 but still superior to many other machine bodies), Cons: Ergonomics and battery life, things solved with sony's next series. Maybe even high ISO noise, but after all it has 42MPX, so you know Opinion: My first FF and my first mirrorless at the same time, sold now to switch to a higher model. What to say, a gorgeous car. The raw they churn out are certainly heavy (I recommend compressing them with the function in the room), but they can be croped and modified endlessly. Getting used to the mirrorless system has not been as difficult as many describe it, and has brought considerable advantages, especially the electronic viewfinder. The only flaws: ergonomics (considered a flaw only after trying the Sony A7III) and battery life, which forces you to always have a couple of reserves. sent on January 20, 2021 |
![]() | Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Pros: Compactness for both weight and size, optical quality, minimal if non-existent distortion, diaphragm ring, minimum focus distance Cons: I didn't find against objective Opinion: The best lens I've ever had, no doubt. Crisp, light and compact, bright, practically distortion-free, it even has a good minimum focus distance. I sold it because my needs led me to a 16-35 rather than a fixed 24, but that's not why I can talk about this lens from an objective point of view. I've taken set portraits, landscapes, details, anything, and every shot amazes with its sharpness, I assure you. If you are looking for a bright and versatile lens you will not be disappointed by the 24GM. True, it's an expensive lens, but all 24mm f/1.4 costs money, and in my opinion the Sony beats them all hands down. Look for some used (rare because usually those who buy it if they keep it) or some Cashback to reduce the expense, but it is worth every euro spent even again. sent on January 20, 2021 |
![]() | Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Pros: Weight, colors, sharpness, availability and cost of the used Cons: Not tropicalized, unsteadyed, lack of tripod bracket, it's not a 2.8, but given the price you can't expect more than it already does Opinion: This lens is a godsend for all those on a tight budget but still want to have a very good performance product, even more than 20 years after its release. Nowadays (2020) it is used in excellent condition between 400 and 300 euros, and as far as I'm concerned it was money well spent on a fixed focal camera. For that figure you can not expect to have stabilization, tropicalization and fixed f/2.8, would be given away. The optical and construction quality is from the L Canon series, I used it especially on SonyA7RII to make landscaping and gave me incredible landscape details, sharp and with really vivid colors. If I were to sell it it would only be to take something tropicalized or f/2.8, but I repeat, for 400 euros this lens turns out to be a viable alternative to the super expensive sony native canvas zooms. In short, for a hobbyist or a person on a budget, this lens is truly a godsend. If money is not a problem or you need something better performing for professional reasons then look for the other, optical technology has made great strides in the last 20 years. ![]() | Nikon D7100 Pros: Autofocus, sensor, robustness Cons: Isn't that an FF? It's not a con, it's a buying choice Opinion: Companion of a thousand adventures, he never left me on foot. Removed from the fact that the sensor is 7 years old and does not churn out raw malleable like today's machines, the rest are just merits. The autofocus is responsive, the construction is that of intermediate-high band, the ability to use only one part sensor allows you to extend the focal length even longer, I think in this machine there is little negative. At the price at which it is found in the used I would say that it can be a great choice for those who want a good machine body at an affordable price, with performance that does not disappoint even in 2020. sent on May 19, 2020 |
![]() | Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Vario Tessar T* Pros: Colors, autofocus, build quality Cons: Sharpness, cost, ease with which painting spoils aesthetically Opinion: I've owned it for a year, and I think I've known him well. 24-70, classic focal, suitable to do a little bit of everything. A person who chooses to photograph without too much pretension can find himself well with this lens, without having to buy more. The construction is solid, compact, it is there. The only flaw, the paint of the barrel is very delicate, it takes little to scratch it. The important flaws are on the optical side, and the thing is a displeasure. It's not a lens to throw away, absolutely, but let's say I would never have been willing to pay its price as new, which allows you to buy lenses that are perhaps less versatile but of significantly higher optical quality (the 35mm f/1.8 Sony, a 35 or a 50 from Sigma's Art FE series, the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 for Sony, etc.). I think that more than 500 euros for this lens I would not spend them, because it simply does not apply them. For a lens that starts at f/4 the sharpness is insufficient, you have to close too much for a little sharpness to emerge, and this applies mainly to the center of the frame. For some photos sharpness at the edges is not important, but I think it is important to know about this defect before buying the lens. Even the bokeh is not much, not even at 50mm or 70mm, there are better even in lenses that cost half of this. Let's talk about the advantages, there are the beautiful color rendering, the autofocus (in the areas to which this lens is intended does its work) and tropicalization. Summary: If you are looking for a used zoom lens that does a little bit of everything, without much pretension at the optical level, then this lens can do for you, and you will be happy with it. From this year of use I get satisfied on average, but for what I intend to do I think it's time to change my mind, point to 35mm f/1.8 Sony. But if you're a fussy photographer looking for a very sharp shot then spend that money differently, because you might find something better and you might even save yourself a few euros.
