 | Samyang 135mm f/2 ED UMC Pros: Sharpness from F2 with a great restitution of colors. It's quite very solid and has a weight well balanced. Remarquable transmittance (T2.2). Cons: The manual focus but that's the game ;) The focusing ring is a bit hard on the video edition of this lens… Opinion: For 338 € on a black Friday, I let myself be tempted by this lens for video reports. (You still can find it at that price I presume). I have got the Samyang 135mm T2.2 VDSLR II ED UMC version, which is fitted with a narrow focusing ring, hard and indented in order to receive the follow focus. Apart from that the photo and video versions have exactly the same optic composition. So, then, I tried it to take pictures. And to me since the very first trigger, the optical result is magnificent! For now, among my five lenses this one is my favorite. Within two months of event work, I have been using it on a second camera with an average of two hundred pictures per day (which actually is a lot for a manual lens). Furthermore that frenzy cost me real pains in my hands :'( To conclude, here is my advice: if you buy it for creative pictures which give you time to create your composition and shut whenever you feel like, at that price it's the best choice. You might get better with a Zeiss… ? But I don't have any gold teeth to sell! ; ) But if you want to shoot events like dance, sports or get clear wildlife pictures, I wouldn't say it's useless, but not suitable at all... Without autofocus, you waste lots of pictures. Apart from all what I said, this lens can be a real good investment because without autofocus or stabilizer (and if you do not let it drop or bang it ;), then you should keep it for years without any breakdown ;) sent on February 19, 2018 |
