nikon_z8 Nikon Z8

Pros: Sensor, Files, AF in general, build quality, protect sensor, responsiveness, viewfinder experience, shadow recovery

Cons: Not great battery life. 30 fps only in jpg, pre-release capture only in jpg, in low light the AF with subject recognition sometimes not flawless.

Opinion: Taken at the beginning of June 2023, just released. Super ergonomics (coming from D500 I felt at home), exceptional file quality even at high iso and cropping (my main genre is birdlife). The absence of the shutter is something I immediately fell in love with. IBIS excellent. Used with the 24-120 it churns out nice and sharp files, very workable, the same with 105 macro F, 20 mm S, 180-600, 300 PF. In low light conditions (indoors, soft lights) sometimes the AF with subject recognition is not flawless. Too bad for the pre-release only in jpg and max 20 fps in raw. I trust in the fw upgrades which always seem to be nice and substantial. With FW 2.0 the bird AF and pixel shift are really two nice additions.

Pros: Light, stable, compact. Price not exaggerated.

Cons: the head unties a little too easily. Every now and then you have to tighten the leg brugole because "the movement at the opening and closing of the legs becomes a little slow, but nothing that compromises the stability".

Opinion: I've owned this stand for a year and a half that I use with a Nikon D500. I don't have mammoth goals. With normal goals I've never had any problems with the establishment. Very comfortable to carry around, but at the same time solid. On my last trip to Australia, I boarded it and survived without any problems. I'm really happy with the purchase.
