![]() | Panasonic Lumix LX100 Pros: Excellent lens, very good overall yield relative to the size of the machine Cons: Basically it is not a true compact. EVF and LCD leave something to be desired. Opinion: Very particular machine, undoubtedly it is very well made and for its form factor it is very effective. The Leica lens has a very good yield and even allows some blur, the sensor is small (it is always a slight crop of the micro 4/3) but thanks to the 12 mpx noise management is quite good. The colors of the jpeg do not convince me much. Smart and useful idea of the frame selector. EVF just small, LCD not adjustable and with little resolution. The real problem with this car in my opinion is that it is not really a compact. Between the large lens and the EVF that protrude from the body is not in fact pocket-sized (except for some large winter jacket). So if I have to carry it over my shoulder or backpack, I might as well bring something with the larger sensor! Precisely for this reason I replaced it with a Sony RX100 III, which still sacrifices a little the size of the sensor, but also thanks to the exceptional design is really super pocketable. sent on November 20, 2022 |
![]() | Fujifilm X-E1 Pros: Sensor, cost used Cons: EVF, functionality with manual optics Opinion: Bought for 100€ to try the infamous 1st generation x-trans, I must say that in this respect it did not disappoint me: engraved photos, good details, excellent iso yield to be an APSC. Simulations film still clutch but there is already something succulent. The problem is that I took it to use it with adapted manual optics: big mistake, the EVF has a very bad resolution and the focus peaking is even worse, almost unusable. I therefore do not express myself on the performance of the AF not having used it. But it is not suitable to be used with manual optics. sent on May 12, 2022 |
![]() | FujiFilm Finepix X100 Pros: Very good lens Cons: Slow to focus, slow to shoot, slow to save, slow to navigate the menus (which are also not very intuitive), EVF decidedly dated, but above all made the sensor personally disappointing Opinion: I took it attracted by the aesthetics very appealingly, as I think most people. I believed, having read several reviews, to find a very vintage and definitely good color rendering already from JPEGs, as per Fuji tradition, but I had to change my mind: regardless of the film simulation chosen, I practically never like JPEGs. And it is not a problem of age of the project: I have used several of the first digital canons, of which I greatly appreciate the yield, and they are all much older than the aforementioned one. The lens is excellent, even at full aperture the edges are more than good and the detail, if you enlarge, is there, but the photo as a whole turns out to be careless and soft. In comparison, my X-E1 that mounts the first 16mpx X-trans sensor has a much more satisfactory yield, and even the film simulations are much better. For the rest, the defects are the known ones: slow to do anything, not that it is a car devoted to sports photos but sometimes with its lag at the shot you miss the right moment in portraits or in the street. The OVF is interesting and actually simulates the experience of a rangefinder very well, but I personally practically never use it. The EVF is definitely dated, few pixels, slow in refresh and with unreliable colors. Overall it is a very interesting machine as a project, I don't think I will sell it almost only for "collecting". But later versions are probably a smarter purchase. sent on October 30, 2021 |
