![]() | Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Pros: Size, build quality, sharpness, value for money Cons: Focus Ring Opinion: Purchased used last year, has become immediately the lens I use most often: it is very light, good quality (has a "durable" appearance), not cluttered. The focal length is great for landscapes and photos on the road but lends itself also to some foreground. A f/2.8 is not exactly sharp but you get good shots, while at F/4 is perfect. The only downside is the focus ring: it is silent but the rotation does not have a beginning and an end, it runs endlessly and therefore can be uncomfortable. sent on July 16, 2018 |
![]() | Canon 500D Pros: Insufficient dimensions, ergonomics, generally gives good photos Cons: The meter sometimes "goes crazy", accessing display commands, video quality Opinion: I used 7 years as a cameraman, this entry-level machine body. It has a low weight, a good handle; it is also durable and has given me more than satisfactory results. Unfortunately, under certain conditions, the meter is not completely reliable and needs to be slightly exposed; At high ISO is quite noisy but up to 800 the quality remains fairly discreet. Combined with pancake optics, it is very light and easy to carry. The quality of the videos is not excellent, probably because it was the first video reflex. Being an entry level, the commands are reachable from the display and there are not many direct keys. sent on October 03, 2017 |
![]() | Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Pros: imperceptible AF noise, wide range of focal excursion, sufficiently sharp Cons: sharpness loss at the maximum focal length, ring nut for MF, weight Opinion: I've been using this lens for 3 years continuously on my 500D. The wide focal length allows you to take advantage of it in a variety of situations (from landscapes, night photography, to wildlife photography) to achieving more than dignified results: in particular, the AF is totally silent so you can go completely unnoticed when you need to make silence so as not to scare the subject. It does not shine for sharpness, especially at 18 and 135 mm, but overall it is acceptable. The lens, compared to the other zoom, is quite compact and lightweight; however, its weight is not indifferent, especially if brought to the neck during long hikes. For this reason, I decided to temporarily set it to use lighter and sharper fixed optics. sent on October 03, 2017 |
