![]() | DJI Mavic Mini Pros: Price, ease of use, in-flight transmits safety, battery life, compact and light but also holds up a slight wind. Cons: no RAW (JPEG only), propellers not easily removable, non-smart batteries, build quality not excellent (for the weight it has, there is to keep it for granted), unstable app on Android (I had to switch to iPhone), with little light has its limits, like most drones, professional excluded. Opinion: I didn't want to start with a professional drone right away, like a Mavic Pro, Pro 2 or Zoom. At the same time, I didn't want to rely on the 100-dollar cinesate, because I'm sure it wouldn't end well. This little little gem from DJI allowed me to finally enter this beautiful world of aerial photographs and filming. Driven by good reviews, at the beginning of March I bought this little glass of technology. Because of the Covid-19 I was only able to test it seriously from the beginning of June. The first flights made in a place that was no longer the garden of the house, were immediately simple, reassuring and fun. I think if there was only one thing a drone had to transmit to the pilot during a flight, that thing should be safety: the safety that if anything the drone would have to lose the signal with the remote control, the quadcopter would return to its own at the point of takeoff. In this sense, testing the Return to Home (RTH) of the Mavic Mini several times, I had the pleasure of noting that the little one landed exactly where it took off, with a margin of error that in the worst case, does not get to exceed one and a half meters. This drone is also special for its weight of only 249 grams, which allows it to fly with less restrictions where the largest, by law, can not. I did not buy the drone for this feature but it is still to say that it is surprising that there can be so much technology in such a small and light object. The flaws: - inability to shoot in RAW: ok that is not a professional drone but is a feature that is now offered even by smartphones of medium-low range; - inability to remove propellers whenever you want to store or pull the drone out of the case, so that you do not want to unscrew and then screw 8 screws respectively at the beginning and end of each flight (propellers that, as demonstrated by some flight error warnings, are prone to bending even just by storing the drone in the original case of the Fly More Combo version); - DJI Fly app malfunctions with Android: not to risk, I preferred to switch to an iPhone 6s Plus and since then I have never had any problems again. My smartphone was still to be changed but certainly, who wants to take the Mavic Mini to save money, certainly does not hope to have to buy a new smartphone in order to fly in serenity; - batteries are not smart and this means that if you do not intend to use the drone for more than 10 days, you have to manually put them in storage mode: on the manual, DJI specifies to have them unloaded at a percentage between 60% and 40% to significantly lengthen their life; - touching the drone feels a few crunches here and there, definitely due to the very low weight... In my opinion negligible defect: either you have a light drone or one built in an excellent way. In any case, it is nothing to worry about. All of the aforementioned flaws were (perhaps) caused by a drone launch on the market too early (November 2019)? DJI wanted to make this little one a perfect Christmas present? Well in my opinion it has sold and will continue to sell this Mavic Mini for years and years to come. Photo quality not excellent but adequate to the price and if you have good preparation, even in post-production you can pull out excellent images, especially for a purely social use. I'm not used to shooting videos but I have to say that always in relation to the price of 400 euros, the quality, recording in 2K at 30 FPS is not bad at all. The FULL HD at 60 FPS is far worse. In conclusion I would recommend this Mavic Mini, especially in the Version Fly More Combo (100 euros), to anyone looking for a drone to get started and, why not, I would recommend it even to owners of larger drones to accompany this small 249 gr. sent on June 09, 2020 |
![]() | Rollei C5i Carbon Pros: compactness and lightness, strength, maximum and minimum height, carbon fiber, value for money (especially in Amazon's guaranteed used) Cons: for what it costs, I would say absolutely nothing! It's obviously not suitable for extreme photo spots, but otherwise it's more than fine Opinion: I bought this tripod on Amazon, taking a used opportunity (conditions as new) at about .100. I sold my Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 Aluminum which, being extremely compact, had its limits in terms of stability and maximum height. At the same time, I didn't want to take a heavy and bulky tripod, like my first 190 X PROB Manfrotto. So I decided to try this Rollei C5i Carbon. I already knew the brand and I had found myself more than fine. I absolutely did not feel on my shoulders only 100 grams more weight than my previous Rollei. The carbon fiber construction allows it to be extremely light and, at the same time, very durable. The maximum height of 157 cm has always been more than enough for my use, as well as the minimum height of 34 cm. Highly recommended product (not just the Manfrotto)! sent on November 05, 2019 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 18-55 f/2.8-4R LM OIS Pros: General quality, quick AF, construction (as usual of Fujifilm house!), opening from 2.8 to 4, stabilization, weight and size. Cons: Paralight and front cap do not last over time. Since it has a diaphragm ring, it would have been appropriate to have the opening values printed on the barrel. Opinion: The classic ultra-cheap 18-55 kit to start shooting without having to faint? Absolutely not! We are not facing the usual 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 of Nikon or Canon house. And in fact, this lens does not cost 100 euros but about three times. This Fujinon allows an opening of f/2.8 to 18mm, then close by a single stop, f/4 therefore, at 55mm. It has optical stabilization (which can be deactivated with a special button placed on the barrel) that works well, even in the video field. I started shooting with this lens almost 2 years ago, and now, now, now, now to the transition to older brother Fujinon 16-55 f/2.8, I still feel not to sell this optics, to keep it as a "reserve" or, why not, to prefer to the heavy and bulky 16-55 in all those situations in which the latter should prove too uncomfortable and uncompact. There is no tropicalization, but for the price range I do not feel like I consider it a defect. That said, if you have a tropicalized machine and you intend to take advantage of this feature, look for something else, such as the 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 or the new 16-80 f/4, although the latter, in my opinion is too expensive for what it really offers and, at that price or just over is located on 16-55 f/2.8. In conclusion, this 18-55 is a widely recommended optics, especially to those who want quality in a small body well built and at a fair price! sent on October 29, 2019 |
