![]() | Fujifilm X100V Pros: Beautiful, unique hybrid viewfinder, built-in ND filter, very quiet even with mechanical shutter, USBC charging in the camera. Cons: IQ not stunning, very expensive, not so compact. Opinion: I state that I purchased the machine in 2022 integrating a Sony kit based on A7RII, so many of my considerations are the result of the use of these two cameras next to each other. I think that this Fujifilm X100 line is one of the most beautiful digital cameras "for mere mortals" to look at, to hold and to use ever because of a whole series of goodies such as the viewfinder, the ND filter, the rings. Initially I found the car a bit uncomfortable to hold but I think it's more a matter of habit. The AF is not formidable but I think this is not the camera for those who photograph swooping birds of prey or sportsmen in arenas. In general the QI is not mind-blowing and I would say in line with the XT20 that I had briefly, the real bottleneck is the optics which have quite a few aberrations and at F2 it is not very performing. The real question mark is how can we consider this compact model? On balance I don't see any practical difference in terms of size between this and the Sony with a very small lens eg. Zeiss 35mm 2.8 (which takes other photos, sorry), and this consideration applies to any system including the Fujifilm cameras themselves (why this one and not an XE with the 27mm 2.8??). For those who want extreme compactness, perhaps it makes more sense to look at a Ricoh or... an iPhone :D In conclusion, I can't justify the presence of this machine in the kit and I will end up selling it, I swear. I have been saying it for at least a year! In the meantime I took her to New York, London, Japan... in short, the brain says one thing and the heart another. For those who don't want to or can't spend the money of the X100V, in retrospect I think the X100F offers 99% of the experience for much less. Good light to all. sent on November 30, 2024 |
![]() | Fujifilm XF 18-55 f/2.8-4R LM OIS Pros: Small, light, well built. Cons: Optical quality, autofocus. Opinion: Small and light lens, well built. Well-clutched rings and great quality to the touch compared to the optical kits of other brands. Usually sold for free or almost with Fujifilm bodies. Stabilizer ok. Sharpness does not excel, especially at maximum opening. Overall optical quality at a minimum of disastrous focus distance. I don't know how it's possible but my copy also has a lot of maximum opening color aberrations, and that's very strange because they should be corrected in the room. Autofocus by my pretty slow standards, but it may depend on the body (X-T20). The diaphragm ring doesn't have the numbers printed on it. Generally rather disappointed. sent on November 03, 2020 |
![]() | Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Pros: Autofocus, excellent closed diaphragms IQ, beautiful colors, small and light for a 70-200, price in used Cons: Not sharp at f 4 on aps-c Opinion: The lens has a fairly old design, I do not think it is as solid as some say: mine stopped working after a few months (I admit that I bought used from a private here on the forum and do not know where it was or what made the lens) and I spent anyway the money that I saved by taking it used in the repair of the focus engine. However a good lens to a good budget, which gave me beautiful photos and that will continue to do so. sent on November 22, 2019 |
