![]() | Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Pros: Lightweight, sharp at full aperture, super precise and lightning-fast focus, tropicalized Cons: The price that if compared to the competition is a bit out of tune. Opinion: I come from a Tamron 150-600 G2 that has never fully satisfied me on my 5D Mark IV and now that I have switched to the R5 it bothers me to use it. Ballerina focus, photos kneaded even with the diaphragm closed. So I decided, I put aside the money (I think the only sore point of this lens) and after months of waiting (lens always not available both on the Canon store and elsewhere) I took the plunge. Finally I can after a few days of use I can sum up. Objective promoted with flying colors!!! Sharpness on another planet compared to the Tamron, ultra fast focusing, excellent stabilization (on static subjects at @500mm you can shoot at 1/20s and have sharp photos in 80% of the shots), super compact and lightweight! Yes, if it had been an F/5.6 to @500mm would certainly have pleased but it would certainly have been affected by the price and weight! PS: Bonuses not to be underestimated the minimum focusing distance! At @500mm is only 1.2mt which makes it great for "macro" photos of relatively large subjects such as reptiles, amphibians, flowers, butterflies and escapes. sent on November 26, 2021 |
