![]() | Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Pros: Very light and compact, smooth dials, image quality Cons: Chromatic aberrations Opinion: I analyzed at length whether to take the Fuji 16-55 mk1, the Fuji 16-50 or the Sigma. Embracing the philosophy of portability, I excluded the Fuji 16 55 mk1 for its weight and size, I don't consider the mk2 because it is too expensive, while I preferred it to the Fuji 16 50 because of the constant aperture. If you are also wondering which one to get, consider this: if you don't necessarily care about having Fuji lenses, if chromatic aberrations are a negligible defect and if you can tolerate the absence of the aperture ring, go easy on the Sigma. The portability is exceptional combined with the XS10 and the quality is more than good. sent on March 21, 2025 |
![]() | Canon EF 100mm f/2.0 USM Pros: Sharpness at TA, size, weight, strength, bokeh Cons: very strong chromatic aberration, inconsistent AF, lack hood, colors vary widely in different lighting conditions Opinion: I bought this 100 F2 with the lens of having the ideal lens for portraits, to use during weddings. rnPremetto had replaced the first I bought because I thought it was bad, but the second has unfortunately confirmed the flaws of the model and then opting for resornPartiamo from the positive aspects, it is one of the few lenses under 500 Euros that allows you to shoot at TA with excellent sharpness. This is why I bought it, and it was confirmed very good on this aspect. The shots are contrasted and sharp, with a slight tendency to cool tones, the first impact give a sense of satisfaction and WOW, especially if you use properly the detachment of the plans, which can offer a really excellent bokeh (almost identical to the 135) . And 'solid and sturdy, very light to trasportare.rnrnGli gripes my two specimens suffered from devastating chromatic aberrations, ruined virtually all outdoor photos. Not all unfortunately are correctable in the post, because the amount ofreduction was set to nearly full and the edges were interested ruined. Backlit by the sky is virtually inutilizzabile.rnAltro biggest flaw is the AF, which did me wrong 50% of the shots during the ceremony, even though I had calibrated the AF carefully (even at that stage I noted some uncertainty). The errors were random, now Back Focus Now Focus Front. 2 copies of 2, including that of a friend of mine (then 3), all with the same defect difetto.rnAltro lesser extent, but still took me a long time to work in the photos, is the way it responds to different light situations. Outdoor colors were balanced, under the neon is a disaster, all very tacked on the yellow (with the same settings the 24/105 f4 L returned definitely more correct shots) .rnrnIn conclusion, do not recommend it for the reasons mentioned above, because it makes you lose too much time in the POST, then when you have to fan a wedding you speak only of hours worked to correct the defects, which is worth the investment forthe 135L. sent on September 26, 2016 |
